Aer'La only wants to be free...The Confederated Worlds are unparalleled as a society of free people, yet, somehow, slavery still manages to exist. Aer'La, a non-human, was bred to serve as a pleasure slave. Years ago, she escaped her masters and masqueraded as a human, joining the Confederate Navy, where she worked her way up to ship's Bos'n under the heroic Captain Jan Atal. Now, Aer'La's secret has been discovered by Atal's superiors, the media, and the world at large. Branded a sociopath, she learns that even a free society isn't willing to grant freedom - or justice - to all.Library Journal says: "The author of the Arbiter Chronicles, an award-winning audio drama, vividly brings to life a cast of compelling characters while telling a story that measures the cost of freedom. The far-future military setting should appeal to fans of David Weber's "Honor Harrington" series as well as the military sf of David Drake."

Needle in the Hay Stack!

I came across this by accident, and have to say wow! I've never listened to abridged recordings, and will never want to listen to one again. I couldn't help wondering what i missed from the book and went and got it! IT made up for it in spades! This is one reason i gave it a rating of 4. The other reason was it was so short! There was so much more i wanted to know, and to me the book seemed rushed. I can only imagine that publishing it had a certain price and for being able to share this with people can only be considered greatful! I hope you have another story, especially of Are'la!

Fantastic story and excellent production

A thoroughly entertaining and well produced story for an avid sci-fi and podcast fan like me. Reminds me of a cross between Heinlein and an elaborate radio show. It's gotten me hooked on the Arbiter Chronicles. I'm looking forward to picking up the book.

Taken Liberty really good.

"Taken Liberty is based in Prometheus Radio Theatre's "Arbiter Chronicles" Universe, and takes place at the end of Season One. It works rather well as a science fiction novel that looks at what it means to be human. Also, it looks slavery, which is still an issue in much of the world, no matter what many think. I'm very much looking forward to a sequel.
