    You might think the school your child attends for grade school is signed, sealed, and delivered based on your address, but you actually have so much more choice than that. Whether you want your children to attend public school, private school, homeschool, or somewhere in between, this episode is all about what questions to ask yourself and the prospective school’s team to make that decision.  In this episode, we are joined by Jessica Hawkins, a former educator and current doctoral student at UNC Charlotte; and Imana Sherrill, Head of School at Trinity Episcopal School in Charlotte. We discuss our various perspectives in alternative school systems, how diversity and equity factor into school choice, and why learning to advocate for your child’s education is a key skill no matter which school they attend.     36. Setting Students Up for Success | Two Educators’ Perspectives on Screens, Routines, and Skill-Building

    Education is so important to us, from literacy and fostering a love of books to building math skills that support financial literacy down the road. That’s why we’re thrilled to bring you this conversation about education with Tracey Hope Haynes, an elementary school teacher (and Helen’s sister!), and Wanda Harding (Helen’s classmate at Hampton University), a NASA engineer turned educator and founder of Launching Leaders. In this episode, we discuss how to support your child’s learning at every stage of life, building your child’s confidence through affirmations and skill-building, and navigating technology use in the home and in the classroom.
