Why Good People Still Miss Each Other

Tania Cavaiuolo has spent over twenty years leading marketing teams and helping business owners get better at the parts of business nobody trains them for, reading people, building rapport and communicating in a way that actually lands. She's the founder of The Accidental Marketer Australia and creator of Relate Like A Pro, a workshop built around understanding how differently people communicate, decide and connect. In this conversation, we talk about how Tania ended up running marketing for businesses before anyone called her a marketer, what she's learned about why some people build relationships with ease while others keep hitting the same wall, and what happens when you take her outward-facing read on people and put it next to the work I do on what's actually driving behaviour underneath. We also talk about something we've just built together, an extended version of Relate Like A Pro called Influence with Impact, running as a full day on October 28th, and what led two people from quite different backgrounds to put their work in one room.   Workshop details: https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/relate-like-a-pro-influence-with-impact-tickets-2000540240713 Connect with Tania: theaccidentalmarketer.com.au ----- Follow Maryanne for updates here:  www.maryannekatsidis.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/maryannekatsidis/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/maryannekatsidisadvisor Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/maryannekatsidis/   By accessing this podcast, I acknowledge that the entire contents are the property of Maryanne Katsidis, or used by Maryanne Katsidis with permission, and are protected under the Australian and International trademark laws. The Room That Doesn't Exist Yet

Most CEOs I meet already have a coach, a mentor, sometimes a therapist. And almost none of them have ever had one honest conversation about the thing this episode is actually about. In this solo episode, I talk about the specific kind of isolation that comes with being the person who's supposed to have the answer, why saying "I don't know yet" gets harder the higher you climb, and what's actually being asked for underneath all of it. Not advice. Not a framework. Just somewhere to think out loud without it becoming an instruction. --- Follow Maryanne for updates here: www.maryannekatsidis.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/maryannekatsidis/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/maryannekatsidisadvisor Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/maryannekatsidis/ By accessing this podcast, I acknowledge that the entire contents are the property of Maryanne Katsidis, or used by Maryanne Katsidis with permission, and are protected under the Australian and International trademark laws. The Fear Beneath the Silence

What keeps us from saying what we know is true? Most of us assume it's a lack of confidence or courage. But what if something far more human is happening? In this episode of More Than You're Saying, Maryanne Katsidis sits down with communication expert and Certified Speaking Professional Jacqueline Brooker to explore the hidden fear that shapes far more of our decisions than we realise. After experiencing public judgement in 2016, Jacqueline spent the next decade researching what really happens when people fear being misunderstood, rejected or cast out. What she discovered challenges many of the assumptions we make about leadership, communication and psychological safety. Together, Maryanne and Jacqueline explore: Why leaders soften messages they know need to be said. The difference between fearing cancellation and fearing misjudgement. What fear is actually trying to protect. The organisational cost of conversations that never happen. Why isolation gives fear its greatest power. What becomes possible when we understand the humanity beneath our hesitation. This isn't just a conversation about communication. It's a conversation about what it means to remain human while leading. Because often... there is more being said than words alone can reveal. The One Thing I Couldn't See

This episode is the most personal thing I've shared on this podcast. For most of my working life I could see clearly into others, the patterns, the pressure, what was sitting underneath before anyone named it. What I couldn't do was apply that same clarity to myself. I talk about what that looks like from the inside. The running. The capable one identity. The personal cost of it. And the moment my body finally made me stop. This isn't a story about struggle. It's about the specific blind spot that lives inside genuine perceptiveness and why the most insightful leaders are often the ones carrying the most without seeing it. If you've ever wondered why you can read every room except the one inside yourself, this episode is for you. The Body Knew First

This episode goes straight into the moment your body tells the truth before your mind can catch up. I share a real story, one where my body reacted before I had a single thought and how that moment changed the way I lead, decide, and hold myself. We talk about the micro‑signals leaders override, the pressure to stay “capable,” and the cost of abandoning your internal intelligence. If you’ve ever felt a tightening, a pullback, a quiet “no” you ignored… this episode will land deeply. In this episode I share a moment where my body reacted before I had a single thought — a full-body recoil in a room where something wasn't right. And what happened when I listened to it instead of overriding it. Most leaders have spent years learning to override that signal. This episode is about what it costs and what becomes available when you stop. The Double Bind

This episode dives into one of the most painful psychological patterns I see in leaders: the double bind between the fear of failing and the belief that you already have. It’s the loop that makes movement feel dangerous, staying still feel shameful, and progress feel threatening. I break down where this pattern comes from, why it’s not a personality flaw, and how to recognise the moment your system is protecting you from a past that no longer exists. If you’ve ever felt stuck in a way you can’t explain, this episode will give you language for it. It's not fear of failure. It's the simultaneous belief that you've already failed. If you try, you might fail. If you don't try, you're proving you already have. That loop makes movement feel dangerous and staying still feel shameful. This episode names where that pattern comes from, why it feels so real, and what's actually underneath it. The Cost of Being the Capable One

This episode goes straight into the quiet truth most high‑performing leaders never name: the cost of being the capable one. The steady one. The one who holds everything. I talk about how capability becomes identity, how identity becomes pressure, and how pressure becomes performance, often without you noticing. And I share the moment I realised I wasn’t exhausted from doing too much… I was exhausted from holding too much. If you’ve ever felt full in your life but empty in yourself, this one will land. You figure out that being reliable keeps things calm. That stepping in before anyone asks keeps things steady. That not needing anything keeps people close. And you get so good at it that it becomes the only version of you that's allowed. This episode is about the pattern that sits underneath burnout, over-functioning, and that particular exhaustion you can't sleep off. And the one sentence that starts to shift it.
