    Guitars, Latin and Beauty: An FSSP Priest’s Journey | Father Eric Krager, FSSP - July 21, 2026

    Father Eric Krager, FSSP, shared at the July 2026 meeting of the Serra Club of Oklahoma City how an ordinary, secular upbringing turned into a serious Catholic vocation through suffering, honest questions, and a hunger for reverence. He also explored why “trying to be cool” backfires, and why beauty, truth, and disciplined prayer are what actually last.  Highlights: • growing up near Philadelphia with a Protestant dad and a fallen-away Catholic mom  • a sick infancy and a parish message that helps his mom return to the Church  • being Catholic in name while lacking basic catechesis and prayer  • the “rock band” approach to youth faith and why it nearly breaks trust  • Boy Scouts as a surprising source of virtue, duty, and community  • living through the abuse scandal years and choosing the sacraments anyway  • school debates, new atheism, and pushing back on anti-Catholic claims  • discovering the Latin Mass, visiting a Nebraska seminary, and finding “home”  • saving money through service work and learning people skills for priesthood  • seminary as a semi-monastic life of prayer, silence, study, and labor  • parish realities today, growth, travel distance, and building constraints  If you have some rich uncle, please introduce him.  ************ Learn more about the Serra Club of Oklahoma City at serraokc.org.
