The One Big Thing with Steve Campbell

Steve Campbell

Hey there — I’m Steve Campbell. I’m a husband, dad to four amazing kids, follower of Jesus, and someone who wakes up every day wanting to help people live with more clarity, courage, and purpose. Life has taught me that faith isn’t just something you talk about — it’s something you live, wrestle with, and anchor everything to. My relationship with Jesus shapes how I love my family, how I lead, how I speak, and how I show up for others. Every podcast, conversation, and connection I make starts there — from a place of grace, humility, and hope. My Heart Behind The One Big Thing I started The One Big Thing podcast because I believe each of us is created on purpose and for a purpose. We all carry something unique that can make a difference — not someday, but right now. Through the stories, lessons, and conversations on the podcast, my prayer is that you’ll discover the spark God placed in you and feel encouraged to take your next faithful step. I don’t have all the answers — but I’ve learned that when you stay close to Jesus, stay curious, and keep moving forward, amazing things can unfold.

What It Truly Means to Be One with Jesus — with Neil Broere

In this episode of The One Big Thing, I sit down with Neil Broere — pastor, writer, Bible teacher, and former missionary to Iraq — for one of the most profound conversations we’ve had on this show. Neil shares what Jesus has been teaching him in this season: union with Christ. We talk about what it really means to be in Him — not just saved by Him, not just working for Him, but living from a place of oneness where everything else flows downstream. This conversation moves deep into obedience, suffering, faith, and what it looks like to trust God even when prayers feel unanswered. Neil opens up about life on the mission field, raising a family in difficult environments, and how suffering becomes a gateway to intimacy with God rather than a sign of His absence. We wrestle honestly with hard questions: What happens when God doesn’t move the way we expect? How do we hold faith when the miracle doesn’t come? And how does suffering actually shape us into people who can carry the weight of God’s glory? If you’re in a season of uncertainty, pain, transition, or deep questioning — this episode is for you. It’s a reminder that God is still good, Jesus is still present, and your suffering is never wasted. Listen in and be encouraged — even if He doesn’t, He is still faithful. And He is still with you. _________________________________ Neil Broere is a teaching pastor at Radiant Central Coast in California, an author, and the Global Director of Becoming Love Ministries, where he helps pioneer gospel-centered initiatives around the world. Before relocating to California in 2022, Neil and his wife, Lindsey, served as missionaries in Iraq for six years alongside their four children. That season deeply shaped their faith and reinforced their conviction that Jesus is exactly who He says He is — and that a life of obedience can radically transform individuals and families. Neil is the author of Obedience, Suffering, & Reward, which reached #1 on Amazon’s Ecclesiology list and continues to rank among the top titles in the category. His upcoming book, LIMINAL: The Delicate Space Between Breaths, is scheduled for release in Spring 2026. Through his weekly devotional Between Sundays, Neil shares reflections drawn from Scripture and life experience, focusing on themes such as identity in Christ, the power of the gospel, God’s design for the church, the kingdom of God, suffering and wilderness seasons, and the beauty of communion. _________________________________ Join my YouTube Community of over 42k subscribers where you can watch all my episodes at https://www.youtube.com/@stevecampbellpr Thanks to one of my show sponsors! 💪🏼 Are you looking to get in the best shape of your life? In this episode of The One Big Thing Podcast, I sit down with Ashley Merrick — cancer survivor, founder of United Capping, wife, mom, and someone whose story deeply challenged and encouraged me. Ashley opens up about the moment she received a breast cancer diagnosis at just 38 years old and how, instead of allowing bitterness to take root, she chose to trust God through one of the hardest seasons of her life. We talk about faith, fear, resilience, motherhood, and the powerful lessons that can come from pain when we allow God to work through it. What started as Ashley researching ways to preserve her hair during chemotherapy eventually turned into United Capping — a business and ministry that now walks alongside women during some of their darkest days. After coming off one of the hardest and most refining seasons of my life, this conversation hit deep. We talk about: The role of suffering as God’s refining processHow sin and shame quietly hold you back from who you’re called to beWhy many believers misunderstand God’s heart—especially around money and worthinessWhat it actually looks like to walk in freedom, not just talk about itAnd the one big thing Justin is learning right now: how to break free from shame by fully accepting what happened on the cross This isn’t a surface-level conversation.
