Why were Kickstarter games so disappointing?

The crowdfunded Thief comic books (and a lot of coffee) got Moriarty worked up and...nostalgic for Kickstarter games. Let's dig in. Our spoiler-free Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave review...and what is a "Sonic"?

Kevin beat the new Fire Emblem game, Fortune's Weave. Justin is estimated to finish it in 2032. They give their review while Chris and Moriarty's eyes glaze over and instead think about Black Myth Wukong and Sonic the Hedgehog. Just another crub day.  MORE PLACES TO FIND USCrubscribe ► https://bit.ly/CrubcastGet the show early and get exclusive content at our Patreon ► https://www.patreon.com/crubOur Crubcasts are recorded LIVE at https://www.twitch.tv/crub_official every Tuesday at 7pm Eastern, with EXCLUSIVE Pre- and Post-ShowsJoin our Discord ► https://crub.org/joinBlueSky ► https://bsky.app/profile/crub.orgCome join our Steam group ► https://steamcommunity.com/groups/crubclubPodcasts are available on Apple, Google, Spotify, and other platforms are available at ► https://crub.org TODAY'S CRUBCAST HOSTSChris: https://www.youtube.com/@MykonosFanJustin: https://www.youtube.com/@WorldFamousJtart9Kevin: https://www.youtube.com/@TheGoldenBoltMoriarty: https://www.youtube.com/@reallycool CHAPTERS00:00 WAIT...remember Tupac?02:05 OUR FIRE EMBLEM FORTUNE'S WEAVE REVIEW (spoiler-free)24:09 Happy pride month, Chinese Astro Bot25:51 Black Myth Wukong and its insane sales numbers31:21 What makes a Souls game a Souls game? How reading has been changing us

The median American read two books in 2025. You can outdo them with a copy of Curious George and The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and then that Joe Pera book about being stuck in the bathroom. In the meantime, we wanted to talk about how nice it's been to just sit down and read. Xenoblade games aren't THAT long

Today we just wanted to talk about how fans can unintentionally shape perception of how video games are received. Case in point? Xenoblade games aren't inherently these massive 200-hour commitments. They CAN be...but they aren't if you just want to see the story.  MORE PLACES TO FIND USCrubscribe ► https://bit.ly/CrubcastGet the show early and get exclusive content at our Patreon ► https://www.patreon.com/crubOur Crubcasts are recorded LIVE at https://www.twitch.tv/crub_official every Tuesday at 7pm Eastern, with EXCLUSIVE Pre- and Post-ShowsJoin our Discord ► https://crub.org/joinBlueSky ► https://bsky.app/profile/crub.orgCome join our Steam group ► https://steamcommunity.com/groups/crubclubPodcasts are available on Apple, Google, Spotify, and other platforms are available at ► https://crub.org SHOW NOTESHere's that blog about Xenoblade that Chris mentions around 11 minutes in:https://hiddengem.player.gg/posts/xenoblade-chronicles-broke-me-then-fixed-me TODAY'S CRUBCAST HOSTSChris: https://www.youtube.com/@MykonosFanJustin: https://www.youtube.com/@WorldFamousJtart9Kevin: https://www.youtube.com/@TheGoldenBolt CHAPTERS00:00 XENOBLADE HOT TAKE06:23 How core fans might unintentionally shape perception to outsiders11:46 How much of this stuff do people actually see?14:47 On Xenoblade 2's art direction and weird opening hours23:31 Xenoblade 3's cast doesn't stand out quite as much though26:17 Some very timely Fire Emblem predictions32:27 Why is Kevin so fast at video games37:17 Tokyo Mirage Sessions mentioned40:56 The prices of these dang Wii U to Switch ports45:55 Some more timely Fortune's Weave speculation52:41 What would we replace iconic video game buildings with?
