When the Truth Becomes A Lie

When the Truth Becomes A Lie John 8:44-47 KJV 44Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. 45And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not. 46Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me? 47He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God…           You know the saying speak of the devil and he will appear.  It's a common idiom used when someone you were just talking about unexpectedly shows up. The phrase is said to have originated in England during the Middle Ages birthed from a superstition about mentioning the devil. It was initially expressed as "Talk of the Devil," and the belief was that speaking of the devil could cause him to appear, often with negative consequences.           In the Bible, according to various sources, the devil is said to have been spoken of 36 times in the New Testament and spoken of by the name satan 18 times in the old and 35 times in the new with his first appearance being recorded in Genesis when he is referred to as the deceptive and cunning creature, known as the serpent, that tempts Eve to disobey God.  Later, the serpent is identified as Satan in Revelation 12:9 and Revelation 20:2.

    Oh, The Horror: Obsession

Oh, The Horror:  Obsession Numbers 23:23 KJV 23Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel: according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What hath God wrought!   Witchcraft/witch·craft: the use of magic to inflict supernatural harm or misfortune on others   Biblically speaking, witchcraft is defined as seeking supernatural power, knowledge, or control apart from God, and it is strictly condemned as an act of spiritual rebellion. In our anchor verse, it speaks directly to the attempt of one who was hired to do witchcraft against the children of God, but against these, God made it plain it would not be.  Witchcraft was requested to be done against them by one man because of his obsession with the children of Israel, saying they are too mighty for me. Numbers 22:1-6 1And the children of Israel set forward, and pitched in the plains of Moab on this side Jordan by Jericho. 2And Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites. 3And Moab was sore afraid of the people, because they were many: and Moab was distressed because of the children of Israel. 4And Moab said unto the elders of Midian, Now shall this company lick up all that are round about us, as the ox licketh up the grass of the field. And Balak the son of Zippor was king of the Moabites at that time. 5He sent messengers therefore unto Balaam the son of Beor to Pethor, which is by the river of the land of the children of his people, to call him, saying, Behold, there is a people come out from Egypt: behold, they cover the face of the earth, and they abide over against me: 6Come now therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people; for they are too mighty for me: peradventure I shall prevail, that we may smite them, and that I may drive them out of the land: for I wot that he whom thou blessest is blessed, and he whom thou cursest is cursed.   Obsession/əbˈseSHən/: the domination of a person's thoughts, feelings, or mind by a persistent, powerful, and often unreasonable idea, desire, or image.

You're Beginning to Look A Lot Like Jesus

“You're Beginning to Look A Lot Like Jesus” 2 Corinthians 3:17-18 KJV 17Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. You remember that song, “It’s beginning to Look a Lot like Christmas,” by Bing Crosby.  While this song was reportedly released a few times by various artists, first recorded and released by Perry Como and The Fontane Sisters with Mitchell Ayres & His Orchestra in September 1951 and there was also a version released by Michael Buble’ in 2011, however, the version I heard was the version performed by Bing Crosby. As the title hints, “It’s beginning to Look a Lot like Christmas,” is a song that romanticizes the pagan holiday known as Christmas and the signs you’ll see that indicates that time of the year is near. Some of the signs outlined in the lyrics are is the carol that you’ll sing, the toys in every store and the prettiest sight to see, is the holly that will be on your own front door.  Very evocative and festive song that really puts you in the mood for egg nog and Christmas cookies, but when I heard it in my spirit was right after I asked the Lord this one question, what is with all the spiritual warfare I am encountering?  This is when I heard you’re beginning to look a lot like Jesus and the way I heard it reminded me of the song, “It’s beginning to Look a Lot like Christmas.” I was like huh?
