The Steel City Church

Steel City Church exists to help people learn and live the ways of Jesus. Steel City Church began to lay down roots during the summer of 2020 when several families, young professionals, and college students from the Carolinas and Pittsburgh faithfully joined together to form a community committed to learning and living the ways of Jesus. Our community continues to grow as we invite people like you, no matter where you are on your faith journey - skeptic, curious, newly following Jesus, or longtime follower of Jesus - to learn and live with us!

What if God wants to do more than simply change your circumstances? In Exodus 7–9, we enter the middle of God's rescue operation for Israel. Moses and Aaron repeatedly stand before Pharaoh with the same command:“Let my people go, so that they may worship me.”As plague after plague falls on Egypt, God demonstrates His power, confronts the false gods and security of Egypt, remains faithful to His word, and gives Pharaoh opportunity after opportunity to respond. But there's something bigger happening than simply getting Israel out of Egypt.God wants to be known. And Israel wasn't rescued merely so they could experience freedom from slavery. They were rescued for worship. The same is true for us.Through Jesus, we aren't simply rescued from our sin so that we can go back to living life on our own terms. We are rescued for a purpose—to know God, worship Him, serve Him, and walk in the good works He has prepared for us.Sometimes we ask God to change our circumstances when what He ultimately wants to change is our hearts.Pharaoh repeatedly experienced God changing his circumstances, but his heart remained hard. The question for us is not simply, “God, will You change my situation?”It's also:“God, what are You revealing about Yourself—and what are You doing in my heart?”Join us as we walk through Exodus 7–9 and discover what the plagues reveal about the character of God, His faithfulness, His power, and His desire to be known.📖 Exodus 7–9🎙️ Jacob📍 Steel City Church🔥 RESCUE Sermon SeriesYou weren't rescued just for freedom. Why Does God Rescue? | RESCUE - Exodus 5–6 - David Bowers || July 26

Why does God rescue? We often think of rescue as God making our circumstances better—removing the hardship, fixing the problem, or finally giving us the freedom we've been asking for.But Exodus 5–6 gives us a deeper answer.God rescues so that He will be worshiped. As Moses steps into God's rescue plan, things don't immediately get better. In fact, they get worse. Pharaoh refuses to listen. The Israelites become discouraged. And Moses begins to question whether he's even the right person for the job.But God hasn't lost control. In Exodus 6, God reminds Moses who He is and what He has promised to do. God's rescue isn't ultimately about making life comfortable. It's about displaying His power, making His name known, and bringing people into worship of Him.As we look at Pharaoh, the Israelites, and Moses, we see three different ways our hearts can respond when God doesn't work the way we expect.Maybe you don't know who the Lord is.Maybe you know Him, but you're struggling because life doesn't seem fair.Or maybe you're like Moses, wondering if your failures, weaknesses, or inadequacies could somehow derail God's plan. The answer is the same:Look to Jesus.God's rescue is ultimately displayed most clearly in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. You can't mess up God's plan. You can trust Him when life is hard. You can trust Him when you don't understand. You can trust Him when you feel unqualified.Because the God who rescues is still faithful—and ultimately, His glory will be known.📖 Exodus 5–6🎙️ David Bowers📍 Steel City Church🔥 RESCUE Sermon Series#Rescue #Exodus #Jesus #ChristianSermon #GodsGlory
