34 What if the Feeling Won't Destroy You?

What if the thing you've been avoiding isn't actually dangerous?  Many women spend years running from grief, fear, rejection, disappointment, loneliness, and shame because they're convinced that if they truly feel it, it will overwhelm them.  But what if that's not true?  In this episode, Lisa explores one of the most common fears women carry:  "If I let myself feel this, I might fall apart."  Together we'll explore:  Why difficult emotions feel so threatening The difference between a feeling and the fear of a feeling Why avoidance often costs more than feeling How emotions were designed to move Why the breakthrough isn't finding the feeling, but allowing yourself to experience it What if the feeling you've spent years fearing is actually survivable? And what if healing begins when you finally stop running?  🎙️ Listen now.  Transformation happens when insight becomes practice. 33 What Did Being Strong Cost You, Really?

Strong people get things done. They solve problems. Carry responsibility. Show up when others can't. Keep moving when life gets hard. But what happens when strength becomes more than a gift? What happens when the very thing that helped you survive becomes the thing that keeps you from healing? In this episode, Lisa explores the hidden bargain many capable people unknowingly make: As long as I can handle it, I don't have to deal with it. Not because strong people are weak. But because strong people can function for years without addressing what's happening underneath the surface. Together we'll explore: • Why functioning and healing are not the same thing • How strength can become an avoidance strategy • The powerful question that changed Lisa's life • What many capable people are protecting themselves from feeling • Why healing sometimes begins when we stop carrying everyone else's pain long enough to acknowledge our own Because sometimes the strongest person in the room isn't the freest. And sometimes freedom begins with a single question: What would I have to feel if I stopped being strong for a moment? Transformation happens when insight becomes practice. 32 The Experience We'd All Like To Avoid

The Experience We'd All Like To Avoid You've discovered the pattern.  You've identified the fear.  You've recognized the grief.  You've found the knot.  Now what?  Many people spend years developing self-awareness only to discover that awareness alone doesn't create transformation.  In this episode, Lisa explores the step that many people unintentionally skip: actually feeling what they've spent years avoiding.  Why do some struggles seem to persist even after we've identified the root?  Why isn't knowing enough?  And what happens when we stop running from difficult emotions and begin allowing them to be processed instead?  Join Lisa as she explores why awareness reveals the knot, but healing often begins when we're willing to sit with what's inside it.  Because the feeling you've been avoiding may not be the obstacle.  It may be the doorway.  Transformation happens when insight becomes practice. The Season 3 Resource Guide was created to help you go beyond listening and begin thoughtfully applying what you're learning through reflection questions, exercises, and practical next steps. ➡ Access the Full Season 3 Companion Guide Season 3 Stop Surviving and Start Living Resource Guide - Outside The Pulpit ✍️ If reading is more your thing, I've shared a companion article on Substack that explores this topic a little deeper.  📬 Subscribe to have future reflections delivered directly to your inbox. https://outsidethepulpit.substack.com/p/the-part-most-people-skip?r=6h1pc2&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=true   Send us Fan Mail Support the show 🎧 Thanks for tuning in to Outside the Pulpit. 31 Don't Get Stuck in One Chapter of Your Story

Have you ever found yourself praying about the same struggle year after year and wondering why it's still there? Like the Struggle Bus just keeps pulling in your driveway? Fear. Anxiety. People pleasing. Resentment. Overthinking. Overworking. At some point, many of us begin asking difficult questions: Why is this still here? What am I doing wrong? Why hasn't God fixed this yet? In this episode, Lisa explores a different possibility. What if the persistence of the struggle isn't proof that you're failing? What if the symptom you've been fighting is actually pointing to something deeper? Together, we'll explore the difference between self-condemnation and curiosity, why symptoms make terrible teachers, and how lasting transformation often begins when we stop asking "What's wrong with me?" and start asking "What is this trying to show me?" Because awareness helps us see the loose ends. Curiosity helps us follow the thread. And sometimes the thread leads us to the very place God wants to heal. Transformation happens when insight becomes practice. 30.1 Why Just Understanding the Problem Isn't Solving the Problem

Season 3, Episode 1: Why Understanding the Problem Isn't Solving the Problem  For years, many of us have believed that awareness is the key to change.  If we can understand why we feel what we feel, react how we react, or struggle where we struggle, then transformation should follow.  But what happens when it doesn't?  In this episode, Lisa explores a question many women quietly carry:  "I know what's wrong. I know where it came from. I know what God says about it. So why is it still here?"  Awareness is valuable. Awareness is necessary. But awareness is not transformation.  Together we'll explore the difference between recognizing a pattern and actually untangling it, why self-awareness sometimes becomes a stopping point rather than a starting point, and how many of the struggles we're fighting may actually be symptoms of something deeper.  This episode introduces a concept we'll be exploring all season:  The Knot.  Because sometimes the problem we're fighting isn't the real problem at all.  #YouTube Description  Why Understanding the Problem Isn't Solving the Problem | Outside the Pulpit with Lisa Meador | S3 Ep1  You've identified the pattern. You've prayed. You've studied. You've grown in awareness.  And yet you're still asking:  "Why is this still here?"  In the Season 3 premiere of Outside the Pulpit, Lisa explores why awareness, while necessary, is often not enough to create lasting transformation.  Many women know exactly what's wrong, where it came from, and even what Scripture says about it. Yet knowing and changing aren't always the same thing.  In this episode you'll discover:  ✅ Why awareness is a starting line, not a finish line  ✅ The difference between understanding a problem and solving it  ✅ Why symptoms often disguise deeper issues  ✅ A new framework Lisa calls "The Knot"  ✅ Better questions to ask when change feels stuck  If you've ever found yourself thinking, "I already know that, so why am I still struggling?" this episode is for you.  Subscribe and join us as we begin Season 3 and start exploring what may be underneath the patterns we've been trying to fix for years.  Transformation happens when insight becomes practice. 30 Getting to The Heart of Lasting Change: Intro to Season 3

Getting to the Heart of Transformation | Season 3 Introduction Before we dive into Season 3, I want to take an episode to lay a foundation. Over the last several years, my understanding of transformation has deepened. Not because I've abandoned Scripture or changed what I believe, but because I've gained a greater understanding of how God designed us to participate in the process of transformation. For years, I taught mind renewal from a biblical perspective, and it changed my life. Learning to challenge unhealthy thoughts, meditate on truth, and renew my mind brought real freedom. Along the way, I discovered something that helped me understand Christian transformation on an even deeper level: the connection between thoughts, emotions, habits, and behavior. What surprised me wasn't that these discoveries contradicted Scripture. What surprised me was how often they confirmed what Scripture had been saying all along. In this episode, I share why this season will focus on emotions, awareness, avoidance, survival patterns, peace, freedom, and lasting transformation, and why paying attention to our emotions isn't the same thing as being led by them. If you've ever felt spiritually stuck, trapped in recurring patterns, or frustrated because knowing truth hasn't produced the lasting change you long for, this season is for you. My beliefs haven't changed. My understanding of how transformation happens has. Welcome to Season 3: Stop Surviving and Start Living. 29 The Courtroom in My Head: How I Stopped Putting Myself on Trial

The Courtroom In My Head: How I Stopped Putting Myself on Trial  Have you ever noticed how quickly uncertainty turns into self-doubt?  Recently, while waiting for our house to sell, I found myself caught in a familiar cycle of frustration, fear, and disappointment. At first, I thought I was struggling with uncertainty. But as I journaled and listened to my thoughts, I discovered something deeper:  I had been interpreting uncertainty as self-indictment for a very long time.  What if the problem isn't the feeling?  What if the problem is the verdict we attach to the feeling?  In this episode, I share a personal breakthrough about disappointment, fear, uncertainty, and the internal courtroom many of us unknowingly carry around in our minds. We'll talk about emotions as messengers, the difference between circumstances and conclusions, and why some of the hardest feelings to experience may actually be the healing ones.  If you've ever felt like you're constantly evaluating yourself, questioning yourself, or wondering if you're somehow failing God, this conversation is for you.  Key Takeaways:  Feelings are messengers, not judges. Uncertainty is a circumstance, not a verdict. Disappointment is an experience, not an identity. You don't have to step into every courtroom your mind creates. If you want to go deeper and hear more like this, join my Private Facebook Group Willow   https://www.facebook.com/groups/willowbylisa     Send us Fan Mail Support the show 🎧 Thanks for tuning in to Outside the Pulpit. 28 I Decide How I Show Up, And You Can, Too

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve recorded—and that was intentional. If you're learning how to live more intentionally and stop reacting in your daily life, this episode will help you begin that process. In this episode, I’m sharing what I’ve been noticing about myself lately… specifically how learning the skill of intentionality has changed the way I show up in my everyday life. From simple situations like going to the dentist, to navigating stress and recognizing when I’ve drifted into habits that don’t serve me—I’ve realized something powerful: I don’t react to my life the way I used to. I decide who I’m going to be before I get there. In this episode, we talk about: what intentional living actually looks like in real lifehow to stop reacting and start choosingwhat to do when you drift (without panic or shame)and how to return to alignment in a grounded, sustainable wayThis isn’t about perfection. It’s about being aware enough to choose.  Join us in my private Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/willowbylisa Send us Fan Mail Support the show 🎧 Thanks for tuning in to Outside the Pulpit.
