This speaks to the inner and outer Marxist librarian in me. How did I, a polyamorous queer socialist librarian, not discover this until season 2? Unknown but I’m obsessed with it now. Hard recommend.

I was so fascinated after reading Hangsaman that I immediately began searching for a podcast to learn what others thought about the book. I appreciate the analysis here so much. I wish I could talk about it further with someone-the entire final section of the book with Natalie and Tony going into town and then to the lake could take up a couple hours alone. I loved the descriptions of Natalie’s paranoid and grandiose delusions sprinkled throughout, and especially toward the end where she feels people are following her and Tony around and spying on them-really felt like a descent into mental illness, and it was very accurately described by Shirley Jackson. Great book, insightful and enjoyable podcast!
