Sean Elliott Discusses Spurs - Knicks After Game 1 of the Finals

In the latest episode of Small Market Bias, host Paul Garcia is joined by special guest Sean Elliott, who shared his experiences as a former NBA player and provided his observations of the San Antonio Spurs-New York Knicks NBA Finals series: (00:16) Introducing Elliott, who won a championship with the Spurs in 1999 against the Knicks (01:12) Elliott provided his initial reaction to the Spurs falling in game one to the Knicks by 10 points. (02:50) Being a former player, Sean mentioned the challenge of guarding left-handed players, especially with the Knicks' go-to player, Jalen Brunson, being a lefty. (04:55) Since the Spurs' local broadcast stopped calling games once the regular season, Sean provided his thoughts on the Spurs making it through the first three rounds of the playoffs, where they're now competing for an NBA Championship with such a young roster. (07:43) What do the Spurs need to do to try to get Victor Wembanyama more looks near the basket in Game 2? (10:13) Something Head Coach Mitch Johnson mentioned after game one was that the Spurs need to try to run their offense inside-out, not outside-in. Sean echoed that strategy when asked about how the Spurs can get more paint scoring in Game 2. (12:16) Spurs rookie Dylan Harper came off the bench with 16 points on efficient shooting. Elliott provided his observations on the young rookie so far in the playoffs. (14:33) While the Spurs' defense still played well enough to win the game by holding the Knicks to 105 points, there are still some areas they can clean up, according to Sean. (19:24) Lastly, Sean knows what it's like to go to Madison Square Garden during the NBA Finals and try to win in that arena. He shared his perspective on what the Spurs players have to be ready for in that environment. Sign up for the newsletter at TheSpotUpShot.com Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company.
