Episode 66: “Thankfullness, Faith & Dentistry” with Doug Daniels - Music by Todd Lowry

In the latest episode of The Celebrate Happiness Roadshow podcast, we are speaking with dentist, genealogist, and historian Dr. Douglas Daniels. Doug earned a Bachelor's degree in Biology from California State University, followed by a Doctorate in Dental Medicine from Oral Roberts University, a school that emphasizes treating people as body, mind and soul, not merely a set of teeth. The first two years of his dental education were integrated with the medical school curriculum, giving him a broad foundation in both medicine and dentistry.   Out of deep compassion for others, Doug trained to bring his dental skills to remote and underserved communities around the world. His trips include Venezuela's Amazon region to work with the Yanomamo Indians, and regular visits to Baja California with the Flying Samaritans to provide free dental care to the indigenous people of Oaxaca. In 1993, he taught state-of-the-art dental technology to Russian dentists in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Most recently, he set up a clinic in the Fiji Islands to serve local islanders. Doug feels that giving back the talents God gave him is an important part of his life. Doug's private practice is in La Habra, California, and he is a member of the Orange County Dental Society and the California Dental Association.   He is also an avid genealogist and historian, a passion that began when he helped document the oral history of southeastern Utah as an undergraduate and has since grown into genetic genealogy. He has given historical and genealogical presentations throughout the American Southwest and served as President of both the Genealogical Society of Hispanic America and its Southern California chapter.   Doug puts a high priority on family, friends and faith. He loves traveling, good food and new culinary experiences, and enjoys kayaking, hiking, working out and anything at the beach near his home in Corona del Mar, California, or at his vacation home in Santa Fe, New Mexico.   Join us for this uplifting and fascinating discussion as Doug shares stories and powerful insights from his worldwide dental adventures as well as thoughts on faith, thankfulness, and so much more.
