Good anglers don’t choose a lure at random. They study the water, consider the conditions, and select something suited for the task ahead. In Matthew 4:18–22, Jesus does some choosing of His own—but instead of recruiting religious scholars or powerful leaders, He calls four ordinary fishermen. In this episode of Riverside, we explore what Jesus saw in Peter, Andrew, James, and John, why He told them He would make them “fish for people,” and what their immediate response teaches us about discipleship. We’ll also consider how Jesus can take the gifts, experiences, and abilities already present in our lives and redirect them toward His kingdom.
