Life Without: The Untold Story of Heath Stocks

This is a horrific story. I think it would be to heavy for Netflix to do, It is to vile. These boys were destroyed by this predator. Sometimes there is no rhyme or reason to things. It is why God said “lean not to your own understanding “ the story will blow your mind.

This podcast adeptly reveals the prolonged years of terror, abuse, and manipulation experienced by numerous boys in Lonoke, Arkansas, at the hands of Jack Walls—a Scoutmaster who exploited his family's wealth, political ties, and the Boy Scouts of America’s insufficient oversight of sexual abuse claims to conceal his predatory actions. The narrative presents a heartbreaking tale of unrestrained power, systemic breakdown, and the lasting trauma inflicted on Heath Stocks which ultimately lead to an unthinkable tragedy that irrevocably changed Heath’s life and devastated his family and community.

No trigger warning is given for the animal abuse mentioned several times in this series. The hosts are very intentional and thoughtful with the story in other areas and go out of the way to touch on trigger warnings for assault and suicide, but are so tone deaf here it almost seems intentional. Listener beware.

I am from Lonoke, Arkansas and know this story inside out. I knew the Stocks and Walls families and many others who are central to this tragedy. As hard as it is to listen to this, it is my fervent hope that the great journalism this team has done will finally bring light to the right people that Heath does deserve some mercy and consideration. He has taken responsibility for his action; no one has accepted responsibility for what happened TO him.
