Finding Focus is where transformation stories come alive. Whether you’re navigating a life transition, career pivot, or spiritual awakening, this podcast offers insight, inspiration, and real conversations with people who found clarity and purpose by following their inner guidance--and sometimes a strong nudge from the Universe. Host Kathleen Davenport, a retired military officer turned intuitive guide and visual storyteller creates space for seasoned leaders, practical seekers, the spiritually curious, and anyone feeling called into something more. Through humor, heartfelt stories, and coffee-style conversations, you’ll hear how intuitive hits, synchronicities, and even life’s “weird” moments can reveal what matters most. If you’re done believing mindset and hustle are enough, it’s time to lean in, trust the guidance, and consider that maybe this is the sign you’ve been waiting for. A note from Kathy: Finding Focus is a nod to my years as a fine art photographer. Behind the lens, I learned to see beyond the surface—capturing not just what was visible, but what was true. Whether photographing people, landscapes, or quiet corners of nature, I discovered I could sense the deeper essence that others might overlook. Sometimes the most breathtaking view wasn't the one directly in front of me—it was what waited just behind, or just beyond the obvious frame. That way of seeing has deepened and evolved into my work as a spiritual channel and intuitive guide. Just as I once helped bring hidden beauty into focus through the camera, I now help people access wisdom and clarity that exists beyond the visible—connecting them to their own inner knowing and the guidance that's always available. Finding Focus is about that journey—learning to see yourself and your life through new eyes, tuning into the deeper frequencies, and realizing that what you've been searching for has often been right there all along, waiting to be revealed. The Intelligence Officer Who Talks to Spirit Guides

I was recently asked to be interviewed by my longtime friend WavenDean Fernandes for a series of conversations with energy practitioners, and this episode is the result--a warm, free-form conversation about intuition, mediumship, and spirituality. I spent my career as an Air Force intelligence officer--the kind of background where you don't exactly bring up psychic readings at work. But underneath the logic and top-secret clearance, I'd always had a gift for reading people, one I kept quietly tucked away until a retreat about two years ago changed everything. In this conversation, I open up about the unlikely path that took me from military intelligence to full-time intuitive and psychic medium--and why I now see that background not as a contradiction, but as the perfect training ground for this work. WavenDean and I talk through how information actually comes through to me (it starts as a scene, like a movie in soft focus), the difference between spirit guides and deceased loved ones, and two client stories that still give me chills: a woman I guided back to painting who now sells her art in a gallery, and a woman I saw in a past-life as a scholar--which explained her lifelong pull toward deep conversation over small talk. We also get into the harder stuff--how I framed my own experience with cancer not as something I "had" but as something I was "experiencing," and why that distinction mattered so much to me. And we close with a genuinely mind-bending detour into past lives, parallel lives, and whether time is as linear as we think it is. If you've ever felt a pull toward something you couldn't quite explain, this one's for you. Highlights From intelligence officer to intuitive. I spent my career in Air Force intelligence, then moved through politics and corporate wellness before a coach nudged me to lean into the intuitive readings I'd kept private--worried they'd clash with my security-clearance background. The retreat that changed everything. About two years ago, I gave readings to ten women at a self-discovery retreat. Their reactions--shock at my accuracy despite my knowing nothing about their backgrounds--became the encouragement I needed to pursue this work fully. How the readings work. I describe my process as multi-sensory: it starts as a visual scene (like watching a soft-focus movie), followed by impressions, sensations, and sometimes words. I'm always clear with clients that I don't want them feeding me information--it should feel like a natural conversation.Guides vs. deceased loved ones. A key distinction I draw: recently deceased relatives and ancestors tend to show up offering emotional support and reassurance ("we're here, we love you"), while higher-level guidance about life path and direction tends to come through spirit guides and the angelic realm.Real client stories. Two standouts I still think about: a woman facing a layoff who I guided back to painting, who now sells her art in a Kansas City gallery, and a woman I saw in a past life as a respected scholar--which explained her lifelong aversion to small talk and pull toward deep, philosophical conversations.Reframing hardship. I share my own experience with cancer and how I consciously chose language like "having a cancer experience" rather than "having cancer"--treating hardship as something temporary to move through and learn from, not something to own.The past lives/parallel lives conversation. Toward the end, I explain that "past lives" is really just a linear-brain way of understanding what may actually be simultaneous, parallel lifetimes--and I describe experimenting with intentionally "shifting" into a desired version of myself (including playing the best round of golf of my life after doing so).Where to find me. I offer private readings and a six-week "Applied Intuition" mentorship (built around a behavioral assessment tailored to each person's unique way of receiving information) via KathleenDavenport.com, along with my podcast and social channels. Here's where you can find and connect with Kathleen in all the cozy corners where she hangs out: https://linktr.ee/kathleendavenport Available on all major podcast stations, Finding Focus with Kathleen Davenport is where transformation stories come alive. Aisha Muhammad on Intuition, Mediumship, & Coming Home to Yourself

In this episode of Finding Focus, I sit down with intuitive reader, medium, and spiritual mentor Aisha Muhammad for a heartfelt, wide-ranging conversation about intuition, mediumship, healing, and discovering who we truly are. Aisha opens up about growing up in a deeply spiritual household, the childhood seance that first revealed her gift, and the years she spent afraid of what she could sense and see. She shares how she learned--with her mother's guidance--to set boundaries with spirits, trust her own way of receiving information, and stop comparing her gifts to other readers. We talk about what actually happens during an intuitive reading, why it's never about a fixed fate, and how every one of us has the power to choose a different path at any moment. The conversation moves beyond psychic phenomena into something much more universal: healing generational trauma, learning what truly resonates with your soul, navigating spirituality and religion on your own terms, and remembering that age is just a number when it comes to living the life you actually want. Whether you're deeply spiritual, simply curious about intuition, or wondering what's next for your own life, this conversation offers honesty, warmth, and plenty of moments that may shift the way you see yourself and the world around you. Episode Highlights Aisha shares the story of the childhood seance that first revealed her gift--and how frightened she was when it happened. How she learned, as a young woman, to set boundaries with spirits who were showing up at all hours. The difference between connecting with loved ones in spirit, spirit guides, and your own intuitive knowing. Why intuitive readings aren't about fate--they're about seeing your current path clearly, knowing you can always choose differently. How intuitive information arrives differently for everyone--through thoughts, images, emotions, physical sensations, and even smells. Why comparing your gifts to another reader's only gets in the way, and the moment Aisha stopped trying to read like anyone else.A candid discussion about generational trauma, breaking old patterns, and why the lessons we avoid keep resurfacing until we face them. Why discovering what truly resonates with your soul--and letting go of what doesn't--is one of the most important parts of personal growth. An honest conversation about spirituality, religion, and learning to trust your own inner guidance over what you're told to believe.Exploring spirit guides, soul contracts, and the idea that we choose the lives we're living for our own growth and evolution. Why age doesn't define purpose, and how it's never too late to discover who you really are and start living in alignment with yourself. Aisha Muhammad is an intuitive reader, medium, and spiritual mentor with more than two decades of experience helping individuals gain clarity, navigate life's challenges, and reconnect with their inner truth. I Think I'm Intuitive...So Why Can't I Access It?

So many people believe they can’t access their intuition… because they can’t meditate. But what if that’s not the problem? In this episode, I break down one of the biggest misconceptions around intuition and higher guidance—and why forcing yourself into traditional meditation practices may actually be getting in the way. The truth is, most people are already intuitive. They’re already receiving information. They just don’t recognize it… or don’t trust what they’re getting. We’ll explore: Why meditation isn’t the only (or best) way to access intuitionHow intuitive guidance actually shows up in everyday momentsThe real reason people doubt or dismiss what they receiveHow your natural way of thinking and processing affects how intuition comes throughWhy intuition and logic aren’t opposites—and how they work together I also share insights from my own experience transitioning from a highly analytical military background to understanding how intuitive processing was always part of how I operated—I just didn’t have the language for it. If you’ve ever thought, “I think I’m intuitive… but I don’t trust it,” his episode will help you see what’s really going on—and what’s been missing. If you’re ready to go deeper, I’ve created a private mentorship called Applied Intuition: Developing Your Intuitive Intelligence where I help you learn how to access, trust, and apply your intuitive intelligence in real life and real decisions. Unlocking the Mysteries of Psychic Detection: An In-Depth Conversation with Todd Segal

In this episode, Kathleen sits down with psychic detective and medium Todd Segal (joining from Williamsburg, Virginia) for a candid, wide-ranging conversation about intuition, psychic detective work, and what it’s like to live with heightened perception in a very “logical” world. Todd shares how his path unfolded unexpectedly--from running a New England bed-and-breakfast on spiritually active land, to giving spontaneous “breakfast table” readings, to realizing (after thousands of “coincidences”) that what he was receiving wasn’t imagination--it was clear, detailed vision. Kathleen and Todd also revisit the real-life cases that first connected them: the missing hiker in Maui and a subsequent search for an elderly neighbor who wandered into dense terrain--cases where Todd’s specific details (including the presence of wild pig trails) matched what searchers found. Together, they explore the tension many people feel between logic and intuition--especially those in the military or law enforcement--along with why intuitive people often struggle to “read” themselves. Todd also discusses discernment, the risks of perceiving what others don’t want known, and why stepping into one’s true work can relieve depression and restore purpose. As the conversation expands, Todd touches on broader themes: intense weather patterns and solar activity, a growing societal divide, and a bigger “cosmic” perspective--suggesting we’re living inside a much larger reality, with human evolution driven not only by technology but by changes in our own awareness and “waking up” over time. The episode closes with warmth and humor, including Todd’s dream of windsurfing as a “retirement career” and Kathleen’s stories from golfing with her 80+ crew—proof that staying engaged keeps us alive. Highlights & Key Moments How Kathleen and Todd first connected: Todd’s input on a missing Maui hiker case (and later an elderly neighbor search) showcased the kind of precise, location-based detail Todd is known for.Todd’s origin story: A skeptical carpenter/farmer/artist who began unintentionally delivering accurate insights—then couldn’t ignore the pattern.September 11th premonition: A striking moment Todd describes as an early confirmation that something beyond “coincidence” was happening. What a “psychic detective” actually does: Todd compares it to detective work—except the evidence is received internally as clear vision rather than gathered physically.Logic vs intuition (especially in military/law enforcement): Both agree those environments often rely on intuition, even when people won’t name it that way.Why you can’t read yourself well: Emotional bias and fear can block self-perception—one reason even intuitives seek other intuitives. The “cost” of the work: Todd shares the heavy side--gruesome information, difficult energy, and why he’s become more selective with exposure.Discernment and safety: Todd notes that knowing what others want hidden can create real-world risk, even if people don’t openly believe in psychic perception.Weather, solar activity, and sensitivity: A practical conversation about energetic “off days,” electronics acting up, and extreme temperature patterns.Big-picture perspective: Todd frames life as a small slice of a much larger reality--suggesting humanity is reawakening, and younger generations may access different capacities.
