Is that a knock at the door?

What does it mean to have Jesus knocking at the door of our lives, and are we too busy or too comfortable to answer? This message takes us deep into the letter to the church in Laodicea in Revelation chapter 3, where Jesus speaks with striking precision to a community that had everything the world could offer -- wealth, medicine, fine textiles -- and yet had drifted into a dangerous spiritual complacency. The central image is one we all recognize: lukewarmness. Not cold, not hot, just somewhere in the middle, coasting along, assuming that because things look fine on the outside, everything must be fine on the inside. Jesus challenges that assumption directly, and he does it with love, not condemnation. The spiritual lesson here is both sobering and deeply hopeful. Our hearts tend to conform to our environments more than we realize. When the noise of everyday life drowns out the voice of God, our spiritual temperature drops without us even noticing. But the invitation in this passage is not a scolding -- it is a knock at the door. Jesus is patient, persistent, and ready to come in and share a meal with us the moment we open up. That image of intimate fellowship is the heart of this message, and it calls us to examine where we have grown comfortable and where we might be ready to let God in again.

How's your heart?

What condition is your heart in? Not physically, but spiritually. This message takes us on a deep and honest journey through the state of the human heart, drawing from Psalm 139:23-24, where David cries out to God to search him, know him, and lead him away from any destructive path. We explore three heart conditions that many of us recognize in ourselves: the dead heart, spiritually lifeless apart from God's intervention; the divided heart, pulled in so many directions that we can never gain real traction in our faith; and the hardened heart, grown cold and self-sufficient, resistant to the voice of God. The warning from Proverbs 4:23 anchors the whole conversation, reminding us that everything in our lives flows from the condition of our heart. Poison the spring, and you poison everything downstream. But here is where the message turns from conviction to hope: none of these conditions are permanent. God does not patch up old hearts. He replaces them entirely. Ezekiel 36:26 describes a divine heart transplant, and that is exactly what is available to each of us. If we have been going through the motions, feeling unstable, or simply numb to God's voice, this is an invitation to let him do what only he can do.

Which town will we be?

What does it look like when a community truly welcomes God into its midst -- not just in word, but in action, in posture, in hunger? This message takes us on a journey through two very different towns in the Gospels: Nazareth, where Jesus was rejected by the very people who grew up alongside him, and Bethany, where he was welcomed so completely that he raised the dead, received anointing, and even chose to lodge there during the most significant week of his earthly ministry. The contrast is striking and deeply personal. Familiarity with church, with scripture, with the rhythms of faith can quietly erode our curiosity about what God might actually want to do in our lives. We can find ourselves living off the remnants of a past spiritual fire rather than burning with fresh hunger today. The central question this message puts before us is simple but searching: which town do we want to be? The answer shapes everything about how we engage with God, with one another, and with the world around us.

Rumble Strips

What if the very thing we keep searching for is already living inside of us? This message wraps up a series on discovering God's will, and it does so by holding up a mirror to some of the most common ways we drift off course in our faith walk. Using the vivid image of rumble strips on a highway, we are invited to examine three spiritual warning signs: looking for signs instead of connecting with the Savior, overanalyzing God's will to the point of paralysis, and dressing up delay as prayer when it is really just disobedience. The crowd in John chapter 6 serves as a striking backdrop here. Having just witnessed one of the greatest miracles in Scripture, where Jesus multiplied a boy's lunch to feed thousands, they immediately turned around and asked for another sign. It is a moment that feels uncomfortably familiar. How often do we stand in the middle of God's provision and still ask him to prove himself again? The message challenges us to recognize that unlike the people of the Old Testament, we carry the Holy Spirit within us. We do not need a fleece or a blood moon or a parking spot to confirm God's direction. We have direct access to the Savior himself, and that changes everything.

When God's will isn't clear

What do we do when God's will just is not clear? That question sits at the heart of this message, and the answer might surprise us. Rather than offering a neat formula or a step-by-step guide, this teaching walks us through three very real experiences we all encounter on the journey of faith: open doors, closed doors, and frustrated plans. Using the calling of the disciples in Matthew 4 as a launching point, we are reminded that an open door is not a promise of an easy road. The disciples said yes to the greatest invitation in history and walked straight into storms, rejection, and danger. Yet Jesus was with them every step of the way. That same truth applies to us. The open doors in our lives, whether a new relationship, a new calling, or a step of obedience, do not guarantee smooth paths. They guarantee his presence. This message challenges us to stop equating difficulty with being outside of God's will, and instead to recognize that resistance is often part of the journey, not a sign we took a wrong turn.

Somewhere in the middle

What do we do when we know where we are supposed to end up, but have no idea how to get there? That tension is at the heart of this message, which takes us deep into the life of David, one of the most compelling figures in all of Scripture. We see him at the beginning, a young shepherd passed over by everyone except God, anointed for a destiny that seemed impossibly distant from his daily reality. Then we see him at the end, a king who lived a long life full of wealth and honor. But the real story, the part that changes everything for us, is what happened in the middle. This message challenges us to stop demanding that God hand us a detailed roadmap and instead trust Him with the how. Like a lamp in biblical times that gave only enough light for the next step, as described in Psalms 119:105, God's guidance is not meant to illuminate the entire journey at once. It is meant to keep us walking forward in faith. The middle of our story is not a waiting room. It is a workshop, and God is doing something essential in us right there.

God has chosen us on purpose

What if the twists and turns of your life were never random? This message opens with a series of remarkable coincidences that stretch the imagination, moments where strangers turned out to have shared the same bedrooms and apartments across years and continents, and asks us to consider whether these moments might actually be God quietly reminding us that we are not accidents. Drawing from Jesus' words in John 15, where he tells his disciples that they did not choose him but that he chose them and appointed them to bear lasting fruit, we are invited to rethink the way we understand our own stories. The ancient rabbi culture of the first century gives us a striking backdrop: disciples had to compete and prove themselves worthy before a rabbi would accept them. Jesus flipped that entire system upside down, deliberately choosing ordinary, overlooked people and declaring them worthy. That same radical, unearned choosing is extended to us. The central challenge is this: if God has chosen us on purpose, then our lives are meant to produce something meaningful for the world around us, not someday, but right now, right where we are.

Understanding God's Will Through Relationship

What if the pressure we feel about finding God's will has been misplaced all along? This message invites us to take a deep breath and reconsider everything we thought we knew about navigating life's biggest decisions. Rather than treating God's will like a hidden treasure map we might misread, we are led to see it as something far more personal and relational. At its core, knowing God's will begins with knowing God's heart. We explore four distinct layers of God's will -- his sovereign will, which cannot be thwarted by our failures or the enemy's schemes; his moral will, which calls us to holiness and gives us a standard rooted in timeless truth; his permissive will, which grants us freedom within boundaries while reminding us that not everything beneficial is equally helpful; and his deeply personal will, which affirms that every one of us has been crafted with purpose and intention. The through line connecting all four is relationship. The closer we draw to God, the more naturally we begin to understand his direction for our lives. This is not a message about getting every decision right. It is an invitation to trust the One whose eye is always upon us.
