Captured Polity

Joy Miracle

CP exists to facilitate communication amongst community groups in London. It aims to do so and to create room for authentic unity and facilitate the understanding of the redemptive purpose of nations as manifested in smaller people groups in line with the redemptive purpose of the United Kingdom. The primary execution is through the creative industry (in dance, in film and literary devices). We aim to challenge the norms in practice within the creative industry by approaching the creative industry as not merely those accredited as creatives but by integrating the community activities directly with activities and the creative process within the industry.

Identity from Within: A Talk by Joy Miracle at Influential Music | Musicians Menu

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode! We at Captured Polity have had three core projects since our inception: Articulating East (our project specifically for, to, or from East London), British Identity Blog (exploring Britishness, Identity, Belonging and Transient Communities) and Musicians Menu. Musicians Menu (MM) is a project that aims to explore chorus making in relation to theatre, performances and storytelling. It focuses on approaching sound with understanding and has a particular aim of identifying and communicating sound that’s reflective of dynamics within families and the neighbourhoods within the WISE nation ie Wales, Scotland, (N.) Ireland, and England. What started of as a research project looking into perceived loudness if becoming a portfolio of projects, programmes and activities to draw on individual ways people listen and perceive sound and subsequently life experiences. This talk on forging creative careers, seeing the whole you before receiving interpretations of you and finding integrity to yourself in your career is no different. We are so grateful to AJ Hassley, Influential Music and Careers in Music for having us. A bit about the organisation: Careers in Music is creating pathways into the music industry by connecting young people with practical experience, industry knowledge and opportunities to develop their careers. Delivered by Influential Music, a talent booking agency, the Music Promotions Assistant Internship supports 18–24-year-olds through an eight-week programme combining on-site sessions at Pop Brixton with online learning. In 2026, the programme received 175 applications from 46 locations, 51 educational institutions and five countries, including the USA and South Korea. Of those applicants, 92 young people joined the programme, with 82 starting their internship. Behind these numbers is a commitment to making music industry careers more accessible and helping the next generation build the skills, knowledge and connections to take their next steps. A special mention to Tanya Morris, Programme Manager, and Bayo Obasaju, Resources and Support, for their contributions to the programme.
