    The Art of Grand Feu: Inside the O&HoraPictor Watchmaking Atelier

    In this episode of OverTime: The Podcast, Praka sits with Ethan from O&HoraPictor to get into the crazy, painstaking world of Grand Feu enamelling. Founded by designer and enamel pro Eriks in 2024 (after launching his private atelier back in 2017), this brand is doing some seriously cool things to bring a modern vibe to an ancient craft. We chat about the realities of making enamel dials, their stunning new DUET collection, and why true craftsmanship means being totally fine with failing 60 times just to get one perfect prototype. The Art & Agony of Grand Feu: We nerd out on the three main stages of enameling: grinding, applying, and firing at a blazing 800°C. Ethan explains how just one degree of temperature change, a single extra second in the kiln, or even micro-impurities can completely destroy a dial. Surviving the Failure Rate: Making enamel dials isn't for the faint of heart. We talk about their 1-in-3 success rate for basic dials, which drops to a wild 1-in-5 for complex ones. Ethan even shares a story about failing over 60 prototypes just to nail one specific texture. The DUET Collection: We get hands-on with their newest release. Ethan breaks down the unique sandwiched silver ring construction, the hand-engraved bases on the Rhapsody and Submarine Canyon colorways, and why they made a last-minute swap to the brand-new SW200-2M Power+ movement for that sweet 65-hour reserve. Enamel on the Movement: Breaking the rules a bit, Eriks and the team figured out how to fire an enamel brand nameplate right onto the movement rotor. It looks amazing.     You Know What Really Grinds My Gears? Part 3!

We also discuss how high-tier clone Rolexes are ruining brand perception, to the point of turning Paul off wanting a Sub altogether.     High Fire & Fine Enamel Craftsmanship: Inside Moriarty Watches

    In this episode, we sit down with Alison and Mike from Moriarty Watches, operating out of County Clare, Ireland. Alison is the technical brain behind the brand—a classically trainedwatchmaker, graduate of the Irish Swiss Institute of Horology, and one of the youngest graduates of the prestigious WOSTEP Academy in Switzerland. Mike handles front-facing operations, managing online client relationships, watchshows, and hands-on workshop duties. Together, they take a closer look at the intense patience and high-risk artistry required to layer pure silver dials and fire them in kilns over 800°C—where a single mistake can causea dial to shatter or crack. Alison shares her journey through jewelers in Dublin and Galway, the challenges of being a young female watchmaker, and how a life-altering diagnosis at age 34 led her to watch restoration, supporting horology students, and mastering high-fire enameling. Following a health diagnosis at 34, restoring watches led to mastering enameling. Mike, a Quantity Surveyor by trade, encouraged her to create her own brand and bought theirfirst Paragon Kiln. Grand Feu Enamel Artistry: A self-taught process using customglass powders to create unique colors like her signature Pink Dial. Each dial takes ~40 hours of hand-sanding and strict quality control. Dials are printed using bespoke in-house pads with custom print options for clients. The Hibernia & VintageEnamels: The inspiration behind the Hibernia, incorporating over 13 colors and vintage leaded enamel for rich depth and saturation. Every watch features custom hand-stitched leather straps tailored to the client. Full Watchmaking Rework: Beyond dials, Alison strips down and services every SW300 movement using traditional machines and shellac, reassembling and regulating each watch to Chronometer standards before a 10-daytesting phase. Production & Ordering: Currently offering 40mm cases, with asmaller option coming soon. Dials are made individually (4 years to perfect red!), with backlogs reaching January. Production will stay at ~25 watches annually to preserve quality.     Yuen & The Y-01 Nascence: An Engineer's Approach to Microbrands

    Welcome back to another episode of OverTime the Podcast! This week, Praka and James sat down with Ong, the mind behind Yuen, to talk about his journey into the watch world and the launch of their inaugural collection. His debut collection, the Y-01 起源 "Nascence", reflects this blend of collector philosophy and technical expertise. The Y-01 is an automatic dress watch featuring an intricate, fumé-finished dial handmade from high-grade abalone shell tiles in a repeating "Y" mosaic pattern. Built with double lug holes for versatile strap pairings and a unique cornes de vache silhouette, the collection launched in six vibrant colors across mid-2026. Operating on a transparent pre-order model to fund production directly, the watch is available at an all-inclusive price of $888 USD (covering shipping, taxes, and duties via DDP) before locking at MSRP. Rather than relying on industry-standard monobloc or welded cases to create his organically curved lugs —which may suffer from structural warping, polishing issues, or high failure rates—Ong designed a Modular Case Architecture. By machining all four lugs onto a separate baseplate that is screwed directly to the midsection and secured by the caseback, he is able to achieve the lug construction whilst also allow him to create alternating brushed/polished finishes with ease.     Wandering Hours Watch Fair 26: Ultimate Microbrand & Independent Watch Showcase

    On this episode of OverTime: The Podcast, Praka and James pack up the studio gear and head out into the wild! We are live on the ground at the inaugural Wandering Hours Watch Fair 2026 right here in Perth, Western Australia! Brought to life by the legends at WatchPoint, Time Only, and Time & Tide, this show was a massive moment for the West Australian watch community. We caught up with local collectors, got hands-on with some incredible independent pieces, and even sat down with brand owners who made the trip out. The hall was packed out with heavy hitters from the microbrand and independent space.
