Ep 134: Trusting Your Intuition When It Would Be Easier Not To

Trusting Your Intuition When It Would Be Easier Not To Podcast 134: Trusting Your Intuition When It Would Be Easier Not To What happens when your intuition says no, but everything in you wants to just go along with it? In this episode, I’m talking about those moments when we know something doesn’t feel right, but we’re tempted to override ourselves because we don’t want to be difficult, hurt someone’s feelings, rock the boat, or make things more complicated. I share a few recent examples from my own life, like when it seemed like something should be simple… until my intuition said, nope, this isn’t it. We’ll talk about: Why disappointment can sometimes help you reconnect with what you actually want The belief that things are always working out for you How to tell the difference between overthinking and an intuitive nudge Why that initial “ugh, this doesn’t feel right” deserves your attention The ways we override ourselves to be easier, kinder, or more well-liked How to listen to your intuition without being unkind or creating unnecessary conflict What to do when you realize you’ve been ignoring yourself How nervous system regulation and getting back into your body can help you hear yourself more clearly Why trusting yourself is something you get to practice over and over again You don’t have to know the entire path forward. Sometimes you just have to listen to what feels true right now, take the next step, and trust that you can figure out the rest from there. And if you need a reminder this week: Things are always working out for you. ____________________________________________ Click HERE for the Show Notes.  _____________________________________________________________________ Resources & Mentions 21-Day Self-Guided Journey Within somatic and breathwork practices for nervous system regulation, three minutes a day HERE  Lift Library for Workouts HERE Peace & Prosperity Coaching HERE   Loved This Episode? Ep 133: Trusting the Signs & Just Doing One Thing

Trusting the signs & just doing one thing. After a summer away, I’m back on the podcast. Last week, we said goodbye to Daphne, our dog of 16 years. And while I’m still very much in the sadness and grief of losing her, I’ve also found myself thinking about everything she taught me while she was here. About being excited about the little things. About slowing down. About simply being there for someone when they’re sad. About co-regulation. And about letting grief, gratitude, love, and even moments of happiness exist together without needing to make any of them wrong. I also started asking Daphne for signs. A squirrel. A feather. A butterfly. And whether you believe those things were actually signs from Daphne or simply beautiful coincidences, there’s something powerful about being willing to ask, slow down, notice, and let something mean something to you. Because sometimes trusting yourself means getting quiet enough to notice what’s already there. And maybe that’s also what I needed as I came back to this podcast: I don’t have to know what the next 100 episodes look like. I don’t even have to know what next week looks like. I can just do one thing. One episode. One day. One step. One thing that feels good to do next. In this episode, we’re talking about: The unexpected grief of losing a dog who was part of 16 years of our lives Letting sadness, gratitude, love, and joy exist at the same time What Daphne taught me about slowing down and enjoying the little things The power of simply being with someone when they’re having a hard time Co-regulation and what I’m carrying with me as my kids get older Asking for signs and being willing to notice them The squirrel, feather, and monarch butterfly stories Why you don’t necessarily need proof for something to feel meaningful And giving yourself permission to just do one thing at a time Maybe there’s something you’ve been overthinking, avoiding, or feeling like you have to figure all the way out. What if you didn’t? What if you just trusted the next thing? And then did that. Ep 132: When the Small Thing Is Actually All the Things

Have you ever found yourself more upset about something than seemed to make sense on the surface, and then realized it was never really about just that thing at all? This is the last episode before summer break, and it may be just what you need to hear. This episode is about the iceberg, what we can see, and everything underneath that we can't, and how understanding that changes the way we process our own emotions and extend grace to the people around us. In This Episode You'll Learn ✔ Why the thing that finally breaks us is almost never actually the thing, and what to ask yourself when your reaction feels bigger than the moment ✔ The difference between writing something to release it and writing something you actually need to send ✔ How to voice something hard without making it an attack, vulnerability without weaponizing ✔ Why extending grace to others starts with extending it to yourself first ✔ How to recognize when you're avoiding sending something out of fear versus when the writing itself was truly enough ✔ The iceberg why we only ever see a fraction of what someone else is carrying, and how to let that shift the way you show up for the people in your life This Episode Is Especially Helpful If... You're in a season of transition, for yourself or your kids, and feelings are coming up that feel bigger than you expected You have something you've been wanting to say but aren't sure if you should, or how You tend to either stuff your feelings completely or go in with the whole list, and neither one is working You're carrying grief that doesn't feel "logical" and you're ready to stop making it right or wrong ____________________________________________ Click HERE for the Show Notes. Ep 131: Anchored in the Now: Gratitude & Showing Up for the Season You're In

The good stuff is already in the here and now...  In this episode, Dorothy gets real about the beauty and the busyness of a season that's full,  Some people call it Maycember....soccer tournaments, dance recitals, baseball finals, end-of-school celebrations, and why that's exactly the time to slow down and anchor into gratitude. This one is a reminder that joy doesn't have to wait for completion. The process, the practice, the ordinary Tuesday morning? That's where life is happening. Dorothy also gets into something she sees a lot in the women she coaches: resistance to even wanting what you want. Whether it's a business, a relationship, a financial goal, or a creative dream, we can talk ourselves out of our own desires before we ever take a single step. This episode permits you to let those desires exist, without apology. In This Episode You'll Learn ✔ Why we tend to delay happiness until something is "done" and how to shift that ✔ How Dorothy's meditation practice taught her that the journey is the practice ✔ The connection between workouts, consistency, and letting go of all-or-nothing thinking ✔ Why resistance to your desires might be the thing quietly blocking your next level ✔ How other people's beliefs and judgments can sneak into the way you live your life and what to do about it ✔ A simple mindset shift for moving through seasons of change with more presence and peace This Episode Is Especially Helpful If... You're in a full, busy season and struggling to be present in the middle of it You keep waiting for the "big moment" to finally feel happy or satisfied You've been talking yourself out of something you really want You're in a life or season transition, birthday, summer, end of school, new chapter You want to build practices like meditation or movement that actually stick _____________________________________________________ Click HERE for the Show Notes.   _____________________________________________________________________  Ways to Work Together:  Within a 21-day self-guided journey to more peace and calm in your nervous system and life. HERE 2 Week Mini Coaching and Lift Library for 3 Months Details HERE Peace & Prosperity Coaching HERE   Loved this episode? Ep 130: The Purpose You're Already Living

The Purpose You're Already Living  What if purpose isn't something you find... it's something you're already living? In this episode ✔ Why your daily life is already full of purpose, even when it doesn't feel that way ✔ How to stop waiting for a "big" purpose and start finding meaning in the moments you're already in ✔ Why the journey IS the point and how that shift can change everything ✔ How external validation (awards, achievements, praise) relates to but doesn't define your sense of purpose ✔ How to stay present with the season of life you're actually in, instead of counting down to the next one This Episode Is Especially Helpful If… You've been feeling like what you're doing every day isn't "enough" You're a mom, caregiver, or someone whose work often goes unseen You've tied your sense of purpose to your business, career, or a big goal and it's left you feeling empty or stuck You're craving permission to just enjoy your life as it is right now _____________________________________________________ Click HERE for the Show Notes.   _____________________________________________________________________  Ways to Work Together:  Within a 21-day self-guided journey to more peace and calm in your nervous system and life. HERE 2 Week Mini Coaching and Lift Library for 3 Months Details HERE Peace & Prosperity Coaching HERE      📲 Let’s Connect: Connect with me on Instagram - @dorothymcgatlin Connect with me on Facebook - Dorothy McGatlin

Ep 129: Release the Control- Trusting Life to Fall Into Place

Release the Control: Trusting Life to Fall Into Place What if the thing standing between you and everything you desire… is your grip on how it has to happen? In this mini episode, Dorothy shares a real-life story about scheduling chaos, manifestation, and why releasing control might be the most powerful thing you can do. In This Episode You'll Learn ✔ Why focusing on how you want to feel is more powerful than controlling every detail ✔ The Abraham Hicks mantra that will shift your energy instantly: "Universe, show me how good it gets to be" ✔ How to tell if you truly believe you deserve good things, and what to do if you don't ✔ Why slowing down helps you hear your intuition more clearly ✔ How self-love and "negative" emotions like anger or sadness can coexist, and why that's actually healthy  This Episode Is Especially Helpful If… You're in a season of waiting and struggling to trust the outcome You tend to over-plan or white-knuckle your way through uncertainty You want to manifest more but feel like you might not fully believe you deserve it You're moving fast and feeling disconnected from your intuition You're ready to enjoy your life while working toward what you desire _____________________________________________________ Click HERE for the Show Notes.

Ep 128: More Fun, Less Pressure: 3 Shifts to Trust Yourself This Week

More Fun, Less Pressure: 3 Shifts to Trust Yourself This Week In this week’s episode of Trusting Dorothy, we’re leaning into spring energy, the feeling of moving toward summer, and choosing how you want this season of life to feel. This episode walks you through three simple but powerful shifts to help you trust yourself more, have more fun, and create more flow in your everyday life. We talk about what it looks like to stop making things harder than they need to be and instead bring more presence, joy, and lightness into your days, even when things aren’t perfect. Dorothy shares reflections from teaching her rebound class, motherhood moments (including a very honest Mother’s Day note), and how learning to hold two things at once, growth and self-acceptance, can completely change your experience. You’ll also hear how your thoughts shape your beliefs, your energy, and ultimately what you experience in your life. When you shift how you see yourself, you begin to create more of what you actually want. And finally, a reminder that you don’t have to be realistic with your dreams—but you also don’t have to do more to be worthy. You’re allowed to want big things and still feel deeply satisfied in the life you have right now. This episode is your invitation to: Have more fun and stop overcomplicating things Be present in your life as it is right now Shift the way you think about yourself and what’s possible Let go of pressure while still moving toward what you want Trust that things are always working out for you If you’ve been feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or like you’re putting too much pressure on yourself, this is your reset for the week.
