    Whatever You Do. Colossians 3:12-17 Whatever you do... 1. Live out of your identity in Christ - vs 12 God’s chosen one(s) Holy Beloved ___ So, because we are set apart as God's people, our lives should look like God's people!  ___ 2. Put on the character of Christ - vs. 13-14 ___So, this list of attributes doesn't establish our identity; they express our identity.  ___ Compassion - mercy, pity Kindness- goodness in action Humility - lowliness of mind Meekness - gentleness, strength that doesn't have to dominate Patience - endurance, perseverance, long-suffering Forbearance - to hold up, to sustain, to endure Forgiving - to pardon Love - loving God and people 3. Let Christ’s peace rule - vs 15 Peace - the tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ. Rule - to act as an umpire Christ's peace umpires how we respond to one another. When there is conflict, hurt, competing interests, let the peace of Christ be the whistle that brings us together. Christ has made peace. Therefore, Christians pursue peace with each other. 4. Be thankful - vs 15, 16, 17 Thankful - grateful, mindful of favors 5. Let Christ’s Word dwell richly among you - vs 16, 3:10 Dwell - reside, inhabit, settle down in a place Richly - abundantly Teaching Admonishing Singing Thankfulness ___ Paul isn't just talking about a good quiet time. He is describing a Gospel-centered, Word-saturated community of believers! ___ 6. Do everything in Jesus’ name - vs 17 Do everything as a person who belongs to Jesus, represents Jesus, and acts under Jesus' authority. Whatever you do, whether you say it or do it, do all of it in the name of Jesus. There is no category of ordinary life that falls outside your identity in Christ. Application How is my identity in Christ impacting my present? How am I showing the character of Christ? How is Christ's peace ruling my heart? How grateful am I? How rich am I in Christ's Word? How much of my life is lived in Jesus' name?

    Hold Fast To Christ (August 16, 2026)

    Introduction Colossians 2:16-23 Where we've been so far in Chapter Two: Christ possesses all wisdom (2:3). Christ possesses all fullness of Deity (2:9). Believers have been filled in Him (2:10). Believers died with Him (2:12). Believers were raised with Him (2:12). Believers were forgiven in Him (2:13). Believers triumphed in Him (2:15). Hold fast to Jesus! 1. What were the false teachers holding fast to? Observing the ceremonial laws (food, drink, festivals, Sabbath) Colossians 2:16 Religious asceticism ("don't touch", severe treatment of the body) Colossians 2:18 Colossians 2:23 Personal "spiritual" experiences (worshiping angels, visions) Colossians 2:18 2. How were these people impacting the believers? Judging those who weren't observing their practices Colossians 2:16 Judge (Krino [kree'-know) - judge, condemn, call into question Robbing the believers from delighting in Christ Colossians 2:18-19 Condemn, defraud : katabrabeuō  (kat-ab-rab-yoo'-o) - to decide as an umpire against someone, to defraud (rob) of the prize of victory. Regulating the believers with human decrees Colossians 2:20-22 3. What did Paul want his readers to hold fast to? The Head, Christ! 4. Why hold fast to Christ? Christ is the reality of the shadows Colossians 2:17 Why hold fast to shadows when you can hold fast to the person, Jesus Christ!? Christ nourishes the believer with what they need to grow Colossians 2:19 Only Christ is able to save us from selfish, fleshly-indulgence (the flesh) Colossians 2:23 Coplossians 2:11 Romans 8:12-13 Galatians 5:16 Application What am I holding onto that is keeping me from holding fast to Christ?
