Unerased Hosted by Trish Lacy Episode 5 The Wedge I Invited In

Send us Fan Mail A beach, a new house, a new city, a clean slate. We wanted to believe all of it meant we were finally safe. But when a relationship is built on secrets, “fresh starts” can become a loop, not a rescue and every move just repackages the same betrayal, the same instability, and the same loneliness behind the photos. We start in Atlanta, then rewind through the pattern that got us there: multiple cities, multiple women, and the exhausting work of trying to prove what we already knew. We talk about what emotional abuse can look like when it is polished for the public: charm at dinner, calm in front of friends, then tension and self-editing once the door closes. The story tightens on moving day in a new home when a job is suddenly quit without warning, and we unpack why that kind of unilateral decision is more than money, it is safety, partnership, and respect. Then Florida arrives with palm trees and promotions. As we grow at work, we notice the subtle backlash, the jokes that sting, the coldness that follows good news, and the urge to make ourselves smaller to keep the peace. Finally, we open up about step-parenting, second chances, and the moment everything changes: when a child asks why love is not given evenly. That question forces a hard truth to the surface: paradise is not a place. Paradise is peace. If you have ever wondered whether a new address can fix a broken pattern, this is your sign to listen. Avoiding Instruction Leads To Destruction Every Time

Send us Fan Mail The fastest way to sabotage a calling is to get addicted to being right. We’re talking about teachability, rules, and the kind of correction that stings at first but saves you later, because avoiding instruction can lead to destruction and we’ve all watched it happen in real time: opportunities lost, relationships cracked, businesses stalled, and leaders who had talent but refused accountability. We dig into Scripture (Proverbs, Romans, and more) to separate arrogance from confidence and control from godly instruction. I also share a poem called “Rules” to make one point impossible to ignore: creation runs on order, and power without order becomes damage. From there we walk through Saul’s story and the danger of partial obedience, then contrast it with David’s willingness to serve while he waits, and Jesus choosing “not my will, but yours” as the clearest picture of strength through submission. We also get practical about an unteachable spirit, the trap of yes-people, and why flattery can bury you faster than correction ever will. To keep discernment at the center, I leave you with three filters: does the instruction violate God’s Word or just your ego, does the person have fruit or only opinion, and is it trying to elevate you or simply entertain and humble you. If you’re building in leadership, ministry, marriage, or business, this is a reset for your mindset and your circle. Peace In The Storm

Send us Fan Mail The storm is not always a sign you missed God. Sometimes it is the proof you are moving. I sit with the person who followed the call, made the leap, stayed obedient and then watched the waves rise anyway, because that moment can make you question everything you thought you heard.  We go straight to Mark 4 and the disciples’ boat that starts taking on water while Jesus is still on board, then we pull that truth into real life: cancer, loss, betrayal, addiction, divorce, financial stress, anxiety, and the quiet kind of survival nobody claps for. I talk about faith that looks like getting out of bed, sending the email, feeding the kids, whispering one sentence to God, and choosing not to quit. We also name the pain of praying hard while God feels silent, and why honesty is not a lack of faith.  Then we get practical about finding peace in the storm. Peace is not control. Peace is not getting your way. Peace is fear not driving the boat. We talk boundaries, unlearning survival habits, and what it means to stop living like it is still raining long after the clouds moved on. If you have ever felt suspicious of calm, stuck in hypervigilance, or tempted to rebuild chaos because it is familiar, this conversation gives language and a path forward.  I also share why testimony matters, how to tell the truth without using your story as revenge, and how Through the Rain Volume 2 is inviting women to write about where they found peace, not just what they survived. If this hits home, subscribe, share it with someone who is tired, and leave a review so more people can find hope when the weather gets rough. Support the show

Unerased Hosted by Trish Lacy Woman 2 Woman

Send us Fan Mail They told each other he was never leaving me and somehow acted like that settled everything. What they didn’t factor in was the one thing betrayal tries to steal first: my ability to choose my own life.  I’m still asking the questions anyone would ask after infidelity, but the “truth” keeps changing depending on his mood. That’s when betrayal trauma kicks in and your memories start feeling contaminated, like every photo and every quiet moment might have been a lie. I share how narcissistic abuse flips the script so fast that the focus becomes my reaction instead of his cheating, his lying, and his constant need to control the story.  Then Natalie finally picks up. I tell you what it felt like to hear her admit she knew he was married, knew we had a child, and kept going anyway. And when she repeats his line that he was “never leaving,” I name what that really is: entitlement, not love. Coming home isn’t faithfulness. Keeping a wife isn’t choosing a wife.  From there, the story shifts to escape and survival. An Atlanta promotion becomes my exit door, and I drive away with my daughter, shaky but certain that love should never require me to abandon myself. Just when peace starts to feel real, my phone rings and he announces he quit his job and he’s moving to Atlanta too. If you’ve ever tried leaving a toxic relationship, you know how chilling that can be.  Subscribe for what happens next, share this with someone who needs their voice back, and leave a review so more people can find Onion Race. When The Truth Finds You

Send us Fan Mail A phone number saved as “John Adams” should tell you everything you need to know and somehow it still isn’t the end of the argument. We open with a quick recap of the receipt that made Trish doubt herself, then walk straight into the moment the truth shows up on an iPad: a coworker’s warning, a voice note from Natalie, and the question that finally gets asked out loud, “Are you cheating on me?” What happens next is the part so many people recognize in emotionally abusive relationships and narcissistic abuse: the instant flip. He explodes, accuses her of making things up, and tries to turn evidence into a character attack. We talk through that disorienting shift where you enter a conversation ready to discuss betrayal and leave defending your sanity. Then Trish dials the number, sees the fake name on the caller ID, and hears the confession she thought would bring relief but instead brings betrayal trauma and the feeling that her past has been rewritten. From there, we slow down and get specific about malignant narcissism, why it’s not a casual label, and why confrontation doesn’t always produce accountability. We unpack the difference between remorse and fear of exposure, and we name the performance that can appear the second consequences show up. When his confession turns into a sudden “heart attack” crisis, we explore the rescuer role, boundaries, and what awakening looks like before you’re ready to leave. If you’re rebuilding self trust after cheating, gaslighting, or emotional manipulation, this one is for you. What If The Real Evidence Is Feeling Unsafe

Send us Fan Mail A single line on a receipt can crack open a whole reality. When we see “General Merchandise 12 count,” our mind jumps to the worst, and before we know it we’re calling a grocery store to investigate a purchase that turns out to be eggs. The funny part lasts two seconds. The real question lingers: what has to happen in a marriage for condoms to feel more believable than breakfast? We walk through how disappearing starts, not with one big blowup, but with a slow leak of self-trust. We talk motherhood, the temptation to love someone for who you think they could become, and the “fresh start” move that feels hopeful until you realize deception steals your ability to make informed choices. Then we name what so many people live with in silence: the body that tenses when a phone buzzes, the late nights that never add up, and the way your honest questions get reframed as drama, insecurity, or “you’re too emotional.” From there, we get painfully specific about hypervigilance and gaslighting. When you become a detective in your own life, you might find nothing and still feel no peace, because the deeper issue is emotional safety. We unpack how one wrong detail can become a weapon of shame, used to dismiss an entire pattern, and why a healthy relationship makes room for your experience with care instead of confusion. We also share a gentle reflection for anyone who has gotten smaller to keep the peace: one small way to reconnect with yourself and remember, “I still belong to me.” The ending hits hard: synced messages, a voice note, and a question that changes everything, with the full response saved for next week. If this resonates, subscribe so you don’t miss the next chapter, share this with someone who needs it, and leave a review that tells us what helped you rebuild self-trust. Support the show

Unerased Hosted by Trish Lacy (Author of Erased In My Home)

Send us Fan Mail The hardest part of healing is realizing you’re still alive, but you’ve been slowly disappearing. Trish Lacy launches Unerased with the stories that come after her memoir Erased in My Home and puts words to an experience many people can’t quite name: the quiet erosion of self-trust that happens when you keep the peace at the cost of yourself. We talk about the “driveway moment” when you sit in the car, not scrolling or resting, just trying to gather the strength to walk back into your own life. Therapy helps Trish translate that silence into grief and gives her a question that cracks the foundation: “When did you learn that love had to be earned?” From marriage to career to friendships, we trace how believing you must be useful to be valuable can shape every relationship, and why understanding your trauma still isn’t the same as healing it. Motherhood brings the turning point into focus. Trish shares how her daughter’s autism and ADHD diagnosis pushes her into research mode, only to learn a deeper truth: you can’t think your way through what has to be felt. We unpack emotional regulation, tears as repair, and the surprising freedom of stopping the endless fixing. The episode closes with a powerful metaphor, a wedding on Independence Day, and a redefinition of independence as reclaiming your voice and worth. If you’ve ever felt unseen, unheard, or unsure of who you are anymore, you belong here.
