    In 1982 Space Camp opened in Huntsville Alabama. It was a place that promoted science, math, and the U.S. Space program to young students. The 1980's also saw the launch of the Space Shuttle program. Space exploration was cool to the kids in America. In 1986 Hollywood wanted to capitalize on this space craze among young kids and released the family friendly adventure film "SpaceCamp". Unfortunately the movie was lost and a financial flop because the country was still in shock and mourning the astronauts lost in the Shuttle Challenger disaster that took place months before "SpaceCamp" hit theaters.     "Lifeforce" was supposed to be a hit movie. Cannon Films got "Poltergeist" director Tobe Hooper to helm the project and "Alien" screeenwriter Dan O'Bannon to adapt the sci-fi novel "The Space Vampires". The movie premiered in the summer of 1985, and bombed. How could that be? "Lifeforce has a great director, writer, and a fully naked 18 year old Mathilda May to be the villain.     In 1984 The Talking Heads released their concert film "Stop Making Sense". The movie would go on to be regarded as one of the greatest concert films ever. In 2016, comedic actors Fred Armisen, Bill Hader, and Maya Rudolph would use the legendary strife between members of The Talking Heads to create an homage to "Stop Making Sense" on an episode of the comedy series Documentary Now! with the fake concert film "Final Transmission".     Christopher Reeve brought Superman to the big screen, and it was a huge success. At least the first two movies were huge successes. After a disappointing Superman III, Cannon Films graabed the rights and tried to bring success back to the Big Blu Boy Scout with Superman IV: The Quest for Peace. Reeve was back along with Margot Kidder and Gene Hackman. Up and coming stars Muriel Hemingway and Jon Cryer were added. Succes seemed to be in the cards. The movie had bad effects, a bad story, and it killed the Superman movie franchise for decades.
