No Offseason: The Athletic Women's Basketball Show

Adding Layshia on this show has elevated an already excellent show. Thank you so much for the analysis, insight, and honesty. Sports are a microcosm for society and I love that this pod understands that!!

Stop sugar coating CC’s bad behavior. She is immature and is not a leader. She is not a diverse player, apparently she doesn’t have the body to keep up. The reason she is SO popular is she can shoot a three from the logo (this doesn’t win championships), she is Yt and presents as straight!…. That is it! PB is all the good things CC isn’t ! Mature and a leader! CC should have stayed in collage one more year.

Follow-up: Zena still not getting the backlash to the hot take episode. “You’re not the birthday” based on the timeout clip removed from the context of the game is not providing useful analysis! It sure didn’t seem like Zena or Annie actually watched that game. Annie and Zena were on some nonsense this most recent episode when discussing Clark and the Fever. She literally is bigger than the program! That is what has everyone over analyzing everything with her and the team.

I will start with I really have enjoyed the show. It has been smart, bold and makes me think. However, the last couple episodes (team makeup and hot takes) have seemed to slip; meaning less analysis and more locker room opinion. Example, on the team makeup episode, there was fantastic analysis by Zena, but it felt like the other host wanted proof that what the Portland Fire did (let 3 players go) wasn’t racist, rather than proof that it was. There are too many reasons why people are retrenched to assume the worst. The other example was hot takes and the all in on the SWhite/Clark event. The discussion was more about Clark being the problem - and granted, she acts like a child complaining at times, but the loss at Portland wasn’t the reason the Fever lost…unless you believe only she can save them? It felt too biased in the analysis. We should be giving people the benefit of the doubt vs assuming the worst. I will say Sabrina always seems to be the voice of reason. I will keep listening, but thought I would bring this up. More analysis good, More speculative half baked stuff bad. Thanks.
