“Tired of Hiding: The Freedom That Comes When You Stop” (Prov 28:13; James 5:16) September 6, 2026

Send us Fan Mail As we continue in our series on Christian Community, this message tackles one of the most vulnerable and costly practices of community life: confession. Drawing from Proverbs 28:13 and James 5:16, Pastor Sam explores why hiding our sins and secrets is so exhausting—and why God designed the church as a place where we can finally step into the light. In this teaching, you'll discover: 🔒 What it really means to "conceal" sin (Hebrew: kāsâ) — and why hiding it costs us more than confessing it 🌿 What true abundant life looks like, and why it's not what the world calls success 🙏 The dual meaning of "confess" (Hebrew: yādâ) — an admission of wrong that leads to genuine praise 💛 Why James 5 calls us to confess not just to God, but to one another — and how shame loses its power in the presence of trusted community ✝️ A reflection on God's mercy through the story of the Prodigal Son, and a communion meditation on the freedom found at the Cross.  Whether you're carrying something you've never said out loud or wondering if healing is really possible, this message offers a clear, hope-filled invitation: name it before God, and find someone trustworthy to walk with you. 📍 Crucible Church | Richmond, BC 🕚 Sundays at 11am — City Centre Community Centre, 5900 Minoru Blvd, 3rd Floor 🔔 Subscribe for weekly sermons, Bible teaching, and updates from Crucible Church #TiredOfHiding #Confession #Proverbs28 #James5 #ChristianCommunity #BibleTeaching #CrucibleChurch #RichmondBC #FreedomInChrist We can also be found on the following Social Media Platforms: Website Facebook Instagram Threads Youtube LinkedIn Apple Podcast Spotify

"Why We Need the Local Church" (Psalm 133) August 30, 2026

Send us Fan Mail Have close Christian friends outside your local church ever made you wonder, "Do I really need to be part of a church?" This teaching digs into Psalm 133 — a short but richly layered poem — to answer that question from Scripture itself. Using the poem's Hebrew structure (a chiasm built in four descending layers), this message reveals how ideas of unity, abundance, and blessing flow from something as ordinary as "brothers dwelling together" to the promise of eternal life. In this teaching, you'll discover: 🫒 Why oil poured on Aaron's head was a symbol of abundance, luxury, and refreshment in the ancient world ⛰️ What the dew of Mount Hermon reveals about the overflow of God's blessing on His gathered people ✝️ How Aaron functions as a bridge pointing forward to Jesus, our great High Priest, through whom blessing flows to the church 👪 Why the local church carries different obligations than personal friendships (Galatians 6, 1 Corinthians 12) 🏠 What it means that the church can become "a hundredfold family" (Mark 10:29-30) — even for those far from home or family 💬 A personal story of Hong Kong-Canadian immigration, loneliness, and how a simple bowl of soup from a church member became a picture of belonging. Whether you're wrestling with whether the local church really matters, feeling disconnected in your current community, or just want to see the beauty of biblical poetry unpacked verse by verse, this message points to one truth: God pours out His blessing in a specific place — there, among His gathered people. 📍 Crucible Church | Richmond, BC 🕚 Sundays at 11 am — City Centre Community Centre, 5900 Minoru Blvd, 3rd Floor 🔔 Subscribe for weekly sermons, Bible teaching, and updates from Crucible Church #psalm133 #BiblicalUnity #LocalChurch #BibleTeaching #HebrewPoetry #ChristianCommunity #CrucibleChurch #RichmondBC #ChurchFamily We can also be found on the following Social Media Platforms: Website Facebook Instagram Threads Youtube LinkedIn Apple Podcast Spotify

"Carry Each Other's Burdens: The Community of Christ" (Galatians 6:1-5) August 23, 2026"

Send us Fan Mail As we continue in our series on Christian Community, this message asks a question worth sitting with: who in your life actually knows what you're carrying? Drawing from Galatians 6:1-5, Pastor Sam explores Paul's urgent letter to a church in crisis and what it teaches us about restoration, shared burdens, and guarding against pride — practical, costly love in action. In this teaching, you'll discover: 🤝 What it means to "restore gently" — approaching someone caught in sin with humility instead of judgment ⚖️ The difference between burdens we're meant to carry ourselves and burdens designed to be shared 💛 Why safety, closeness, and a willingness to stay are what make a church community able to carry each other's weight 🚫 How pride quietly keeps us from both restoring others and being restored ourselves 🙏 Why testing our own hearts before God — not comparing ourselves to others — is the path to genuine humility Whether you've been carrying something heavy alone or sense someone near you is struggling in silence, this message is an invitation into the kind of costly, ordinary love Paul calls "the law of Christ." 📍 Crucible Church | Richmond, BC 🕚 Sundays at 11 am — City Centre Community Centre, 5900 Minoru Blvd, 3rd Floor 🔔 Subscribe for weekly sermons, Bible teaching, and updates from Crucible Church #CarryEachOthersBurdens #Galatians6 #ChristianCommunity #ChurchLife #BibleTeaching #CrucibleChurch #RichmondBC #Restoration #LawOfChrist We can also be found on the following Social Media Platforms: Website Facebook Instagram Threads Youtube LinkedIn Apple Podcast Spotify

    "A New Command: Love One Another" (John 13:34-35; 1 John 4:7-12) August 16, 2026

Send us Fan Mail As we continue our series on Christian Community, this message asks a question every church community must answer: what actually holds the church together? Is it programming and church events? No. More activity doesn't mean more love. Drawing from John 13:34-35 and 1 John 4:7-12, Pastor Sam explores Jesus' new command to love one another — not as a warm feeling, but as a sacrificial, Christ-modelled action that makes the church visible to the world. In this message, you'll discover: 🦶 Why Jesus washed His disciples' feet — including Judas' — before giving the command to love, and what that reveals about true humility ❤️ The difference between agape love and the world's conditional, feelings-based definition of "love" 🙏 Why we can't manufacture love through effort alone — and how it flows instead from being grounded in God's love first ✝️ What it means that "God is love," and why knowing God and loving others can never be separated (1 John 4:7-8) 🌍 How practicing sacrificial love within the church becomes the very thing that makes God's love visible to a watching world Whether you're struggling to love someone difficult in your life or just tired and running on empty, this message points to the same place: sit with the One who is Love first, and let that love overflow. 📍 Crucible Church | Richmond, BC 🕚 Sundays at 11am — City Centre Community Centre, 5900 Minoru Blvd, 3rd Floor 🔔 Subscribe for weekly sermons, Bible teaching, and updates from Crucible Church #LoveOneAnother #AgapeLove #John13 #1John4 #ChristianCommunity #BibleTeaching #CrucibleChurch #RichmondBC #NewCommandment We can also be found on the following Social Media Platforms: Website Facebook Instagram Threads Youtube LinkedIn Apple Podcast Spotify

"Why the Church Needs YOU" (1 Corinthians 12:12-27) August 09, 2026

Send us Fan Mail Continuing our series on Christian Community, this message tackles a question many believers quietly wrestle with: does the church really need me? Drawing from 1 Corinthians 12:12-27, Pastor Sam unpacks Paul's powerful metaphor of the church as one body with many parts — and why every member, whether visible and celebrated or quiet and behind-the-scenes, is essential to the life of the church. In this teaching, you'll discover: 🙌 Why you were placed in your church community on purpose, not by accident 👁️ How the "less visible" spiritual gifts (like the gift of helps) are actually indispensable — anankaios in the Greek — to the body of Christ 💔 What it means that "when one part suffers, all suffer" — and how the church is called to carry one another's burdens 🎉 Why celebrating others' gifts, not comparing or competing, is what makes the body of Christ stronger ✝️ How Paul's letter to a divided, status-obsessed Corinthian church still speaks directly to the culture of comparison we live in today Whether you feel like the "hand" whose gifts are seen and celebrated, or the "foot" who wonders if your quiet faithfulness matters — this message is a reminder that every member of the body of Christ is necessary, valued, and needed. 📍 Crucible Church | Richmond, BC 🕚 Sundays at 11am — City Centre Community Centre, 5900 Minoru Blvd, 3rd Floor 🔔 Subscribe for weekly sermons, Bible teaching, and updates from Crucible Church #EveryMemberMatters #BodyOfChrist #1Corinthians12 #ChristianCommunity #ChurchLife #BibleTeaching #CrucibleChurch #RichmondBC #SpiritualGifts We can also be found on the following Social Media Platforms: Website Facebook Instagram Threads Youtube LinkedIn Apple Podcast Spotify

"Created for Community" (Genesis 2:18; Acts 2:42-47) August 02, 2026

Send us Fan Mail Kicking off our new series on Christian Community, this message tackles a question many of us feel but rarely name: why do we still feel lonely, even when we're surrounded by people? Drawing from Genesis 2:18 and Acts 2:42-47, Pastor Sam explores what Scripture says about our deep, built-in need for authentic relationship — and how God's answer to human loneliness has always been community. In this teaching, you'll discover: 🧬 Why the Bible calls Adam's aloneness "not good" — and what the Hebrew words tov and badad reveal about true relational and communal connections. 📱 Why our hyper-connected, digital world has produced one of the loneliest generations in history ⛪ How the early church in Acts 2 built radical, life-giving community through four key practices: teaching, fellowship (koinonia), breaking bread, and prayer 💛 What it looks like to move from surface-level connection to being truly known Whether you're wrestling with loneliness, longing for deeper relationships, or curious what genuine Christian community looks like in practice, this message offers a biblical vision for the life we were created to live — together. 📍 Crucible Church | Richmond, BC 🕚 Sundays at 11am — City Centre Community Centre, 5900 Minoru Blvd, 3rd Floor 🔔 Subscribe for weekly sermons, Bible teaching, and updates from Crucible. #ChristianCommunity #CreatedForCommunity #LonelinessEpidemic #ActsOfTheApostles #BookOfGenesis #BibleTeaching #CrucibleChurch #RichmondBC #ChurchCommunity #Koinonia We can also be found on the following Social Media Platforms: Website Facebook Instagram Threads Youtube LinkedIn Apple Podcast Spotify

"How to Weather the Storms of Life" (Acts 27:13-44) July 19, 2026

Send us Fan Mail Life is like a roller coaster — and when the storms hit, how do we respond? In this message, Pastor Sam speaks from Acts 27:13-44, where Paul finds himself in the middle of a violent, life-threatening storm at sea — and shows us what it looks like to trust God when everything is out of control. Whether you're navigating grief, uncertainty, loss, or a season of darkness — this message is for you. Three things we learn from Paul's storm in Acts 27: 1. God is Sovereign in the Storms of Life When life feels completely out of control, it is never out of God's control. Paul and 276 people on board had given up all hope — yet God knew exactly where they were and cared for every single one of them. Sometimes storms are not a sign that we're outside God's will. Sometimes they are exactly where God wants us — forming something in us that can only happen in the storm. 2. Our Responsibility is to Trust in God's Care Trusting God doesn't mean throwing out common sense or good judgment. It means responding differently than those who don't know God. Paul stood out on that ship not because he wasn't afraid, but because he moved forward in faith despite his fear — anchored in God's promise and Word. If we build a spiritual foundation in Christ before the storm hits, we'll have something solid to stand on when it does. 3. God Uses Our Trust in the Storm to Bear Witness Paul didn't keep God's promise to himself. He shared it openly — giving thanks to God in front of the entire crew of sailors, soldiers, and prisoners. In dark seasons, people are more open to spiritual things. Your trust in God in the storm can become someone else's evidence that God is real. Your faithfulness is not private — it is meant for everyone around you who is watching.
