I do not enjoy this show, its hosts, or the dynamic it promotes.
The Wild Podcast, hosted by Brandon Cardoso, Julian Barboza, and Parker Reid, is categorized as a sexuality podcast and repeatedly centers its content on gay and bisexual men, gay sex, pornography, DL experiences, coming out, and same-sex attraction.
My concern is not that anyone owes the public a sexual-orientation label. It is that the show repeatedly uses uncertainty about the hosts’ sexuality as a marketing device. Its own episode titles and descriptions have asked whether the hosts are “gay or straight,” whether they are “queer baiters or simply queer,” and encouraged people to tune in to determine where they fall.
When that ambiguity is repeatedly used to generate curiosity, views, subscriptions, and revenue from a predominantly gay audience, it no longer feels like simple privacy. It feels like a deliberate business strategy built around the gay community’s fascination with supposedly straight or DL men.
The hosts are free to identify however they choose, and audiences are equally free to question why this ambiguity is being monetized. Gay men should be more thoughtful about financially rewarding content that turns our identities, desires, and fixation on unavailable “straight” men into a profitable gimmick.
