An interview with Arthur Morgan! Actor Roger Clark on Red Dead 2, Loss & the Role of a Lifetime

This week, I’m joined by Roger Clark, the actor behind Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption 2, the third best-selling video game of all time. We talk about his life and career. The years of struggle before his secret audition with Rockstar, losing his mum at 15, creating Arthur over five years, performance capture, and why the character still means so much to people nearly eight years later. This one is personal, too. My last ever time with my brother Jordan was playing Red Dead 2 online, just 36 hours before he took his own life. Afterwards, I disappeared back into that world. There were days and weeks where I was more Arthur Morgan than myself. He Lost The Love Of His Life, Then Made It Funny: interview with comedian Sam Morrison

Is it possible to turn hope into loss - and even comedy? This week, I'm joined by US comedian Sam Morrison for a conversation about love, grief, comedy, and the show that changed his life. Sam is the creator of Sugar Daddy, a critically acclaimed solo show about losing his partner Jonathan to Covid, being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, and somehow turning the most painful period of his life into something funny, moving and deeply human. We also talk about his show DUCK, which he's currently performing at the Edinburgh Fringe throughout August. In this episode, Sam talks about meeting Jonathan, the silliness and love that defined their relationship, and what it means to keep someone alive by continuing to talk about them. He also opens up about anger, grief, body image, gay culture, and why making jokes about loss is one of the hardest things he has ever had to do. Funny, filthy, tender and unexpectedly profound, I loved this conversation. He Broke His Neck, Lost His Rugby Career, then Built One of the UK's Fastest Growing Companies | James Laithwaite

Today’s guest is entrepreneur and former rugby league player James Laithwaite. Describing himself as one of rugby league’s ‘unluckiest’ players, James Laithwaite broke the same leg four times, broke his neck - it was the first time his now-wife watched him play - and lost the only career he had ever imagined. At 27, he went from playing professional rugby league in front of tens of thousands to labouring on building sites, with a baby on the way and no fallback plan. Then he and his wife Michelle started meal prep business FuelHub. Their son was born on the day the company launched - James talks about leaving the hospital that morning to deliver its first meals. They later sold everything, emptied their savings and risked it all to keep it alive. Seven years on, FuelHub is one of the fastest growing companies in the UK. It produces around 25,000 meals a week, and works with Team GB, England Rugby, major football clubs, Eddie Hearn and Matchroom. This is a brilliant conversation about entrepreneurship, injury, identity, family, obsession and starting again. Real-Life Spider-Man: on Stan Lee, Climbing the World’s Tallest Buildings and Alex Honnold controversy

Dan Goodwin, better known as Spider-Dan, is a legendary climber, daredevil and high-rise safety campaigner. In 1981, aged 25, he climbed the Sears Tower, then the tallest building in the world, wearing a homemade Spider-Man suit and using equipment he had designed himself. He later climbed the World Trade Center, among a dozen skyscrapers, free-soloed both sides of the CN Tower and developed an unlikely friendship with Spider-Man's creator and Marvel founder Stan Lee. We talk about controlling fear when one mistake means death, the moments he came closest to falling, why firefighters once tried to knock him from a building, and the real reason behind his spectacular climbs. They also discuss his complicated feelings about Alex Honnold and the way modern climbing history is presented, surviving stage-four cancer, the power and limitations of positive thinking, turning 70, and why Dan hopes he still has another 70 years ahead of him. This is a conversation about risk, recognition, survival and refusing to live an ordinary life. It's about challenging the possible. What Growing Up With An Alcoholic Parent Really Does To You - interview with Nacoa founder Hilary Henriques MBE

Hilary Henriques MBE is the founder and CEO of Nacoa (National Association for Children of Alcoholics), a charity she established more than 35 years ago after discovering the profound impact parental alcoholism can have on children. We talk about growing up in chaotic homes, why children so often blame themselves for their parents' drinking, the hidden effects of childhood trauma in adulthood, breaking generational cycles, and whether forgiveness is always possible. Hilary shares stories from thousands of calls to the Nacoa helpline, including children as young as five, and reflects on a lifetime spent helping people realise they are not alone. We also discuss Nacoa's "Chasing Yesterday" campaign, which sees Calum Best and others attempt an extraordinary Guinness World Record by running two marathons across the International Date Line - effectively going back in time to do so! Don't worry... all is explained in the episode! It's a powerful conversation about childhood, resilience, and the lives we build afterwards. The CBBC star that rescued FIVE lions from a warzone: an interview with One Zoo Three's Cam Whitnall

Cam Whitnall was once dubbed the World's Youngest Zookeeper. When his grandparents bought a dilapidated zoo, once known as the worst in the UK, and brought it back to life, they also created a home for their family. Cam grew up on the grounds, now known as Hertfordshire Zoo, in a bedroom overlooking the tiger enclosure. His childhood playground, where he and his brothers would play hide-and-seek after hours, was filled with endangered species from around the world. As Managing Director of The Big Cat Sanctuary and one of the stars of CBBC's One Zoo Three along with his brothers Aaron and Tyler, conservation has never just been a job - it's been his entire life. But in 2024, that life took an extraordinary turn. When five traumatised lions were discovered in war-torn Ukraine, Cam led an ambitious mission to bring them to safety in the UK, raising more than £500,000 and overseeing one of the most remarkable animal rescues in history. In this episode, we discuss growing up with big cats in his back garden, the realities of conservation, whether animals can suffer trauma, life in front of the camera, and what it takes to attempt something that most people would consider impossible. Cam also shares the story behind his new book, Lion Heart, and reflects on the lessons he's learned from a lifetime spent protecting some of nature's most magnificent creatures. Why Elon Musk Is Wrong About Mars - Interview with space expert Dr Niamh Shaw

Dr. Niamh Shaw is an engineer, scientist and storyteller who has spent more than a decade chasing an extraordinary dream: to become a citizen astronaut. Along the way, she's spoken at NASA's Johnson Space Center, covered launches from Kennedy Space Center, trained for space, lived on a simulated Mars mission and experienced zero gravity aboard the infamous "Vomit Comet". We talk about whether humans should ever colonise Mars, why she believes Elon Musk's vision for humanity's future is fundamentally flawed, whether space tourism is closer than we think, the search for aliens, and why astronauts believe we need poets, priests and philosophers in space just as much as engineers. It's a conversation that starts with rockets, but ends up being about something much bigger: perspective, possibility and what it means to be human.
