    All the Fall Vibes

In this episode, I’m sharing two recent fall stops: Peck & Bushel Organic Fruit Company in Colgate and Schuster’s Farm in Deerfield. While Peck & Bushel is all about the apple orchard experience, Schuster’s Farm takes fall fun to a whole other level — with 70+ attractions and activities, a massive corn maze, a 14-acre pumpkin patch, farm animals, food, drinks, nighttime activities, live music and even a Haunted Forest. So grab your favorite fall drink and let’s get into ALL THE FALL VIBES! 🍎 Peck & Bushel Organic Fruit Company First up: Peck & Bushel Organic Fruit Company, a family-owned certified organic orchard in Colgate. With more than 50,000 dwarf apple and fruit trees across 80 acres, Peck & Bushel is a beautiful spot for a classic Wisconsin apple-picking experience. They grow more than 35 varieties of apples, and you can pick your own fruit during the season or purchase pre-picked apples. 🍏 Pick-Your-Own Pricing 1 peck bag: $34 — approximately 10 pounds and allows up to 5 people into the orchard¼ peck bag: $12 per person — approximately 2–3 poundsNo reservations are neededOpen Fridays–Sundays, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. during the picking seasonAnd of course, there are plenty of apple treats and farm goodies to make the visit even more fall-approved! 🎃 Schuster’s Farm Fall Festival Now let’s talk about the main event: Schuster’s Farm in Deerfield. If you’re looking for a place where you can basically spend an entire day soaking up fall, this is it. Schuster’s Fall Festival features: 🍂 70+ attractions and activities🌽 8-acre corn maze🎃 14-acre pumpkin patch🐐 Farm animals🚜 Wagon rides🍎 Apple cannons🏃 Ropes obstacle course🎯 Yard games🦆 Rubber duck races🎳 Roller Bowler🔥 Bonfires🍩 Fall food & bakery treats🍺 Drinks & seasonal beverages🎶 Live music🌙 Flashlight Maze👻 Haunted Forest And that list still doesn’t cover everything! The really fun part is that Schuster’s is designed for kids, families, adults, couples and groups. 🎟️ Schuster’s Farm Ticket Breakdown 🍁 Weekend Farm Fun Pass This is your basic Fall Festival admission and gives you access to the daytime farm experience. September weekends:$15.50 online / $15.88 at the farm October weekends:$16.50 online / $16.83 at the farm Ages 60+: $13Ages 2 & under: FREE The Farm Fun Pass includes the farm’s daytime attractions, including the Backyard activities, corn maze and wagon ride to the pumpkin patch. There are no capacity or timed-entry restrictions, so you can plan your day at your own pace. 🎯 Want to Upgrade? Schuster’s also offers special upgrades to the Farm Fun Pass: Shooting SpecialIncludes: 12 apple-cannon shots50 paintball shotsFull-on Farmer PassIncludes: The Shooting SpecialA $10 pumpkin from the pumpkin patchSo if you’re looking to make your visit a little more competitive — or just want to launch things at stuff — there are options for that too. 😂 🎫 Season Pass Planning multiple fall trips? The Season Pass is $35 and is valid for weekend and weekday daytime admission. 🍁 My Takeaway What I loved about Schuster’s is that it doesn’t feel like you’re just going to a pumpkin patch. It’s more like an entire fall experience. You can come during the day for the pumpkins, animals, corn maze and games. Stay for food and drinks. Make a bonfire. Come back at night for the flashlight maze or Haunted Forest. Catch some live music. Or make it a family day, date night or girls’ outing. There are honestly enough activities to make a whole afternoon — or an entire evening — out of it. So if you’re looking for a place to really lean into ALL THE FALL VIBES, Schuster’s Farm definitely belongs on your Wisconsin fall bucket list. 📍 Schuster’s Farm 1326 US-12Deerfield, Wisconsin 📍 Peck & Bushel Organic Fruit Company 5454 County Road QColgate, Wisconsin Listen to the full episode for my personal experience at both spots, what I loved, and why Wisconsin fall activities are officially one of my favorite things. 🍂🎃🍎

Savoring Elkhorn Ribfest: BBQ, Pitmasters, and Summer Vibes

This week on One of a Kind Milwaukee, I’m taking you to Elkhorn Ribfest—one of southeastern Wisconsin’s tastiest summer traditions! Now I finally had the chance to attend this yearly event. From sampling award-winning ribs to chatting with championship pitmasters, this episode is packed with smoky flavors, BBQ tips, and everything you need to know before heading out. Whether you’re a backyard grill master or simply love discovering great local events, you’ll get an inside look at what makes Ribfest such a fun weekend destination. Why This Story Matters Summer festivals are about more than great food—they bring communities together and celebrate the people behind the craft. Meeting the pitmasters and hearing the passion, techniques, and traditions that go into competition BBQ made this experience even more memorable. What We Get Into My first impressions of Elkhorn RibfestWhy it’s one of Wisconsin’s must-visit summer festivalsSampling award-winning ribs from local and international pitmastersAn interview with Mr. Green’s BBQ and their signature Wisconsin-inspired approachAn interview with Aussom Aussie BBQ and how Australian influences create a completely different rib experienceWhy you should add Ribfest to your summer bucket listMeet the Featured Pitmasters Mr. Green’s BBQ Representing Wisconsin, Mr. Green’s BBQ shared the secrets behind their award-winning ribs, including their unique 4-1 cooking method, a flavorful dry-rub style, and the use of Wisconsin honey as part of their cooking process. Their commitment to local ingredients and balanced flavors makes them a standout on the competition circuit. Aussom Aussie BBQ Bringing authentic Australian BBQ traditions to Ribfest, Aussom Aussie BBQ takes a different approach by smoking their ribs over fruit woods and incorporating fruit into their signature barbecue sauce. The result is a naturally balanced sweetness and acidity without relying heavily on vinegar, finished with a beautifully crisp, caramelized glaze. Connect with the Pitmasters Be sure to follow Mr. Green’s BBQ and Aussom Aussie on social media to see where they’ll be competing next and to support these incredible pitmasters beyond Ribfest.
