The Big Gay Book Club is a podcast for every reader out there, queer or otherwise! Every month two queer best friends, Amy and Chris, will dive into a curated selection of queer literature and give you their honest thoughts through their own unique perspectives. We will discuss the queer characters and themes present in these books, and the wonderful authors that have brought them to life. Come with us as we fill up our bookcases with the gayest books around and try our best to spread positivity and love for the books that are so vital to our LGBTQIA+ community.     Episode 32 - Carry On

    This month your hosts, Amy and Chris, read Carry On by Rainbow Rowell, the first book in the Simon Snow series, which follows the adventures of a magical young adult (Simon Snow), his whip smart best friend, his couldn’t-care-less (ex?) girlfriend, and his devious roommate who most certainly is a vampire (probably (I mean look at him)). Being the chosen one sucks, honestly, and Simon has had just about enough of that. This was a book that Amy and Chris both reread specifically so they can talk about it for the podcast, AND because they love it so dang much.     Episode 27 - In Other Lands

    This month our hosts, Amy and Chris, read In Other Lands by Sarah Rees Brennan. Their Season 2 finale (wow!) promises to be a hoot. This was a book Amy had been suggesting for a long time and Chris wishes they'd read it sooner. A new favorite and a story they know everyone will relate to. Read Chris's synopsis below: Mermaids and unicorns and elves and dwarfs and harpies and trolls, oh my! The Other Lands is a place filled to the brim with races and creatures Elliot only ever read about in books growing up, but upon his first visit, he discovers it’s not quite as magical as one might expect it to be. With an upsetting lack of central heating and not a single, suitable writing implement in sight, it might just be the worst place he’s ever been. But what’s the point of going back? Back to a parent who doesn’t care. Back to a school that doesn’t feel welcoming? Back to a world with nothing to offer him. Because The Other Lands do offer Elliot something he’s never had access to before: the potential to love, and to be loved in return. To be the one that can bring about true, world-altering change.
