Welcome to Well for Goodness Sake, a PODCAST about keeping it real through real live talks and throughout all walks of life. Whether or not you are a parent, a student, a young person, married or single, or maybe you’re just now recovering from a broken relationship, this is a SAFE SPACE for you to be able to come and relax, to listen, and to find encouragement as well as that desired and relatable connection with other people who might be in the same boat you’re in right now. I am here to laugh with you, to love on you, and encourage your heart with all of mine – as much as God gives me the words to do so. We are simply searching the heart of God by getting in His presence, diving into His word, and pursuing THE 4:8 LIFE. What is THE 4:8 LIFE? Well, that’s what we are here to talk about. It begins by applying my life verse - Philippians 4:8, and then by getting in God’s presence FIRST AND DAILY and applying practical truths found in scripture in order to find that perfect peace, identity, and purpose. YOU ARE NOT ALONE! Life is full of chaos, and through all of the ups and downs we experience in life, relationships, and circumstances, often outside of our ability to alter or control, we need God’s mercy and grace. We need to laugh and cry, rest and then push forward, and find that peace by embracing God’s infinite purpose for each of us. On today’s episode, Part 2 of UNDERSTANDING THE CHARACTER OF GOD. We dive even deeper into the key passage, Exodus 34:6-7, dissecting the tension of God’s mercy and justice. We take a closer look individually at the five attributes of God from the key passage: compassionate, gracious, slow to anger, loyal in love, and faithfulness. There is only one REALITY! The reality of God, His creation, Kingship, purpose, and plan for all of creation. Your eternity depends on the reality you are walking and living in. Are you walking and living in the one reality of the living Lord and King of the heavens and earth, the God of the Bible? Are you in union with the Holy God, and unashamedly His? KEY VERSES Exodus 34:6-7 “6The Lord passed in front of him and proclaimed: The Lord  — the Lord is a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger and abounding (overflowing) in faithful (loyal) love and truth, maintaining faithful love to a thousand generations, forgiving iniquity, rebellion, and sin. 7But he will not leave the guilty unpunished, bringing the consequences of the fathers’ iniquity on the children and grandchildren to the third and fourth generation.” KEY FOCAL POINTS Compassionate God: God is “Yahweh” (Rakh-oom’), His character is “rakh-umim”. God’s character and this Hebrew word are analogous to the compassionate care of a mother and her newborn baby. Gracious God: KHANUN is the HEBREW noun FOR GRACIOUS. Related is the verb KHEN (often translated as GRACE or FAVOR), and it gets interesting if you follow its use throughout the Bible. Slow to Anger God: In Hebrew, “SLOW TO ANGER” is pronounced, “er’ik-uh-pie-em”. The common Hebrew biblical way of referring to an angry person was “hot nose”, or “their nose burned hot”. Loyal Loving God: LOYAL LOVE translates into the Hebrew word “KHESED”. KHESED describes acts of loyalty that are motivated by deep personal care from someone. Faithful God: The Hebrew word EMET means FAITHFULNESS or TRUTH. It’s also related to the word many of you have already heard in church – AMEN!
