When Love Hurts: Caregiving, Anger, & Coming Home to Yourself

What does it really mean to love… when it hurts? In this deeply personal episode, I share the raw and honest reality of caring for my 90 year old mother and her ailing conditions and cognitive deficits —what it asks of me as a daughter, a mother, and a woman trying to hold it all together. This is a conversation about sacrifice…about anger…about the grief of watching someone you love slip away—and the guilt of not always having enough left for your children… or yourself. But it’s also about something deeper.About learning to sit with the fears that rise—fear of losing love, fear of not being enough—and discovering how those very fears can guide us back into the heart.Through this journey, I’ve begun to find what I call a Home Within—a space of stillness, presence, and deep inner listening that allows me to soften, to breathe, and to meet both myself and my mother with more compassion. If you are a caregiver, a daughter, a son, or someone walking alongside a loved one in a difficult season… this episode is for you.Not for answers—but for comfort, understanding, and the reminder that you are not alone. In this episode:• The emotional reality of caregiving for a parent (dementia, Alzheimers, or not) • Navigating anger, guilt, and physical exhaustion• Witnessing your own patterns through caregiving• Finding presence through and with your children in the midst of pain• Creating a “Home Within” through stillness and self-awareness* If this episode speaks to your heart, consider sharing it with someone who may need a moment of understanding and support. This Too Shall Pass

Circumstances change. Seasons of life rise and fall. And sometimes when we’re in the middle of challenging times, or a painful moment, it can feel like it will never pass. This episode is a gentle reminder of the truth of impermanence—that whatever you are facing right now is not the whole story of who you are, and it will not last forever. When our minds are loud with fear, shame, or despair, they can convince us that something is wrong with us—that we are broken. But the deeper truth is that beneath the noise of the mind, your core self remains whole, divine, and complete. Nothing that is happening in your circumstances can take that away.In this episode, I share reflections on caring for ourselves during difficult seasons and remembering our inherent worth even when life feels uncertain. It’s an invitation to pause, nurture yourself, and soften toward whatever you are experiencing.I also reflect on teachings from Eckhart Tolle about not overvaluing our circumstances, and the wisdom he offers: “Beyond happiness and unhappiness there is peace.” When we stop attaching our identity to what is happening around us, we reconnect with the quiet steadiness that lives within. These teachings remind me of my father's favorite saying: This Too Shall Pass. To him this meant that, In times of prosperity, we remain humble, and In times of despair, to have and feed hope.If you are going through a difficult chapter right now, this episode is for you. A reminder that circumstances pass, that you are not broken, and that peace is always closer than the mind would have us believe. This week, let’s practice not overvaluing our circumstances—and instead remembering who we truly are beneath them. #thistooshallpass #eckharttolle #hope #impermanence #yourworthit  FREE BAN SHAME TIP SHEET EMPOWER YOUR RECOVERY YOGA (FREE for Parents in Recovery) GIVE BACK FOLLOW Learn more about your ad choices. Collision Course

What comes to mind when you hear the words collision course? Maybe you picture two cars hurtling toward impact. Or maybe your mind drifts upward—far beyond our atmosphere—where entire star systems move through space, drawn by gravity, destined to meet. Out there in the vastness of the cosmos, collisions aren’t accidents. They are part of creation itself. When stars collide, they don’t simply destroy—they ignite. They reshape galaxies. They forge new elements. They give birth to something that did not exist before. In this episode, “Collision Course,” Nadia explores that cosmic analogy and brings it home—into the landscape of our own hearts. Within each of us, emotions collide. Fear meets desire. Shame meets longing. Anger crashes into vulnerability. And when those inner forces go unexamined, their aftershocks ripple outward—into our words, our actions, our relationships. Suddenly, we find ourselves on a collision course with someone else. But what if these moments of tension, friction, and even hostility are not signs of failure? What if they are windows of opportunity assuming we don’t create any more wreckage along the way, what if they are signals of transformation?  Just like dense star systems drawn together by unseen forces, our internal conflicts are often guiding us toward discovery. When we widen our perspective, we begin to see that collision does not always mean catastrophe—it can mean breakthrough. This episode invites you to pause in the heat of impact. To watch your words. To observe your actions. To retreat and reflect rather than react. To remember your true self and return home within. From that inner home—rooted in the heart—you can rise from shame-based thoughts, whether they come from within you or are directed at you. You can choose love over fear. Compassion over judgment. Presence over reaction. Every day, we stand at a crossroads between love and fear. Love, as we explore it here, is not sentimental. It is the living current of the heart space—where life feels alive, where intuition speaks, where the voice of the soul can be heard. Fear and judgment are not enemies; they are master survival skills. But when the mind takes over, we can find ourselves carried away by them. By creating a home within the heart, we gain the capacity to witness both. To observe the collision courses forming inside us and around us. To maintain hope for what is emerging. And to remember a powerful truth: everything is impermanent. Even the impact. This episode is a reminder that collisions can become catalysts. That friction can refine us. That what feels like destruction may actually be transformation in disguise. Slow down. Step back. Return home within. And rise.
