    Hope in the Storm: When Everything Else Is Shaken

    What happens to our faith when the things we normally rely on suddenly disappear? In this raw and honest lockdown-era conversation, Ben and the team sit down over coffee at Elim Church Swanley to talk about fear, uncertainty, pressure and where our hope really sits when life becomes unstable. Lockdown exposed more than empty streets and closed businesses. It exposed the things many of us had quietly built our security around — money, mortgages, work, holidays, possessions, routines, our own strength and even religious systems.     Equipped for purpose, Part 1

    Are we truly equipped for the life we are living, or are we carrying armour that will fail the moment the pressure rises? In Part 1 of Equipped for Purpose, Simon and Ben sit down for an honest and challenging conversation about spiritual readiness, pressure, distraction, identity and what it really means to be fit for purpose as a follower of Jesus. Life can feel as though it is coming at us from every direction. There are constant decisions to make, pressures to carry and voices competing for our attention. We can tell ourselves to “stay strong”, keep going and push through — but human strength alone can eventually leave us exhausted, distracted and empty. Using the story of David and Goliath, Simon and Ben look at the danger of trying to fight spiritual battles in borrowed armour. David could not fight effectively wearing Saul’s equipment because it was never designed for him. In the same way, we can easily reach for things that look strong on the outside — status, image, entertainment, success, distraction or self-reliance — while remaining spiritually unprepared underneath. The conversation also looks at modern distraction culture. Phones, streaming, endless scrolling, box sets and constant entertainment can become ways of escaping from what is really happening within us. The question is not simply whether these things are wrong, but whether they are stealing our focus, weakening our spiritual awareness and pulling us away from the purpose God has placed before us. Simon and Ben also speak openly about the direction of culture and the challenges facing the Church in the UK — including humanism, the idea of “my truth”, situational morality, compromised leadership and the danger of presenting something that sounds Christian without carrying genuine spiritual depth or power. But this episode is not about fear. It is about returning to the foundation. Jesus. Being born again. Being saved by grace. Surrendering our lives completely to Christ. And allowing God — rather than the world — to equip us for the battle ahead.     Let Go and Let God - part 2 -

    You can say you trust God and still keep a hidden brake pedal ready for the worst-case scenario. In Part 2 of Let Go and Let God, Reverend Ben Cooper and Simon Pinchbeck continue the honest, straight-talking conversations people know from Christian Straight Talk (CST) — now under the wider Faith Without Walls banner. This episode goes deeper into surrender, faith, endurance and what it really means to stop gripping the controls and trust Jesus with the whole vehicle of your life.     What If Salvation Was Written Before Creation?

    You can feel the pressure in the air right now: tired bodies, noisy headlines, and a constant pull towards fear. We respond the only way we know how, by opening the Bible and praying, then following one clear thread all the way through Scripture: redemption. We start in Galatians 3 where Paul says the gospel was announced in advance to Abraham and that the Gentiles are justified by faith. From there we walk back into Genesis 12, the call to Abram to leave everything familiar and step into a promise he cannot yet map. That “migration” becomes a picture of how salvation works: not inherited by tradition, not enforced by numbers, but received personally as a gift from above through Jesus Christ and sealed by the Holy Spirit. A big part of our conversation turns to Israel and Jerusalem, covenant language, and why “I will bless those who bless you” still shapes how we pray. We talk bluntly about division, about the difference between religion and relationship, and about why “you must be born again” is not a slogan but a call to salvation. We finish at the table with communion, self-examination, forgiveness, and the simple invitation to come as you are and get to the cross.     Let Go and Let God - part 1

    What is holding you back from fully trusting God? Fear, anxiety, self-doubt, money worries, health concerns, family pressure and the opinions of other people can quietly become a spiritual handbrake. We can say we trust God while still keeping our foot firmly on the brake. In Part 1 of Let Go and Let God, Reverend Ben Cooper and Simon Pinchbeck speak openly about surrender, faith, fear, mindset and learning to trust God when life feels uncertain. This episode is a powerful reminder that what looks impossible to us is never impossible for God. “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.” — Mark 10:27Ben and Simon explore how easily we can limit what we believe God can do through our thinking, our words and our expectations. Instead of continually asking, “Can God?”, we are challenged to start living with the confidence that God can. The conversation also looks at the importance of remembering what God has already done.     No GDPR At Calvary

    A candle is lit, Scripture is opened, and the tone is set: keep the lamp burning. We take Joel 3 seriously as a warning about what happens when nations scatter God’s people and divide what He calls His inheritance. That thread quickly collides with the real world as we speak about leadership, the spiritual weight of decisions made in the UK, and why we believe believers cannot afford to treat Israel as a side issue or a purely political argument. From there we cross-reference into Colossians 1 and bring everything back to the centre of the Christian faith: Jesus Christ and the cross of Calvary. We read and reflect on Christ’s supremacy, the church belonging to Him alone, and the staggering claim that peace is made “through his blood shed on the cross”. We talk plainly about redemption, reconciliation, and being presented holy and free from accusation, and we challenge the ways church culture can drift into institutions, trends, and comfort while the gospel is pushed to the margins. The final movement takes us to the Communion table.     Jesus Alone Is Worthy To Open The Seals

    “Worthy” is a big word, and we do not hand it out lightly. We start in Revelation 5:9 where heaven sings to the Lamb who was slain, and we ask what that means when the world keeps talking about Jesus, resisting Him, or trying to replace Him with something safer. For us, the centre is clear: redemption is not a theory, a trend, or a church brand. It is the blood of Jesus Christ buying people back for God from every nation.  We trace that redemption thread through the Bible, connecting Genesis 22, the Passover lamb in Exodus, and the repeated sacrifices that could never fully atone. Then we land in Ephesians 1:7 and keep it plain: “In him we have redemption through his blood.” Along the way we challenge religion that swaps the cross for performance, or avoids the language of sin and grace to stay “seeker friendly”. The question is personal, not institutional: do we know Jesus as Lord and Saviour, and do we understand what it truly means to be born again?  We also open Psalm 22 and place it next to John 19, where the details of Calvary echo with prophetic clarity, including the casting of lots for Jesus’ garments. The conversation touches on culture and education too, including the stubborn reality of before Christ and after Christ, and why the cross still divides history.     Why 1 Peter Says Silver Cannot Save

    “He was chosen before the creation of the world.” That line from 1 Peter stops us in our tracks, because it says redemption was not God’s emergency response, it was always the plan.
