There are no "superheroes." We don't even use that word: we call them Anomalies. And to us normal people, not blessed with the gifts of flight, or strength, or hyper-powered mech-suits, these Anomalies, regardless of their intentions, are a threat. They must be dealt with--they must be equalized. We are the Bureau for the Equalization of Anomalistic Metahumans, BEAM for short. We will solve the Anomaly problem, by whatever means necessary. The BEAM Chronicles is a sci-fi/super-hero fiction podcast hosted, written, and performed by storyteller MJ Dooney. Compelling, charming characters in a very believable superpowered world!
I'm fully invested in this audio-drama! In terms of worldbuilding, it portrays a well-thought-out approach to how a world might realistically react to superpowered people. It does a great job establishing an explanation for how everyone's powers actually work, with a consistent internal logic; everything feels plausible, even if there isn't any real-world "science" behind it. Also features some seemingly commonplace or trope-y superpowers (like telekinesis or teleporting) that are approached and explored in unique ways.
Each character has a distinct voice, both literally and in terms of mannerisms/vocab/etc.--which is particularly impressive considering that they're all voiced by one person! I can't wait to hear what comes next in Book Two.
