Their short-term programs promote sustainability and cultural awareness. They work side-by-side as equals with communities working on projects of their choice and method. an organization offering short-term adventure with purpose through “adventure in service” trips in 26 countries. Kimberly explains how their one-week, fully coordinated experiences combine meaningful hands-on service—like building homes, installing concrete floors for single moms, or assembling wheelchairs for landmine victims—with cultural immersion and unforgettable travel highlights. Together, they explore why showing up in person matters more than simply writing a check, how service transforms both the giver and the recipient, and what ethical volunteer travel should truly look like. Kimberly Haley-Coleman is the founder and Executive Director of Globe Aware, a US & Canada based nonprofit that leads and mobilizes volunteers for short-term service projects in over 25 countries (since the year 2000). With a background in international business development and finance, she previously held leadership roles at global firms including CNBC.com, Space Services International, and Investtools. Kimberly holds an MBA in International Business, an MA in Art History, and a BA from Emory University. A multiple patent holder, SMU Guest Lecturer, and recipient of the Texas Business Hall of Fame Award and long-time Hall of Fame member, Chairman of the Executive Board for the International Volunteer Programs Association (IVPA) and actively engaged with organizations like the Building Bridges Coalition and United Nations ESOC Consultative Status Committee and variety of other nonprofit boards focused on international service, community development, and environmental improvement.

    Lend a Hand Bahamas is a Bahamian nonprofit community-development organization based in Nassau. Founded in 2014, it focuses on expanding educational opportunities, workforce skills, food security, disaster relief, and community resilience in underserved neighborhoods, particularly the Grant’s Town and Bain’s Town areas of Nassau.  The organization works to strengthen communities through programs that promote education, health, economic opportunity, and long-term self-sufficiency. Its stated goal is to create brighter futures through collaboration with local and international partners while serving children, youth, and adults. Programs have included literacy initiatives, STEM education, workforce development, hydroponic farming, and community support services. Based in Grant’s Town, our community centres serve as a safe spaces for children, youth, and adults to learn, grow, and connect, positively impacting thousands every year. Empowering Our Community We provide vital resources and programs that build self-sufficiency and resilience for Bahamian families, focusing on education, health, and economic stability. Education We provide accessible educational programs—from youth enrichment to adult literacy—that empower community members to reach their full potential and build brighter futures. Creating Sustainable Jobs Through workforce development and skills training, including our hydroponic farming program, we equip residents with practical skills to secure sustainable employment and promote local economic growth. Enhancing Health and Food Security Our initiatives improve access to nutritious food and promote well-being through programs that address critical health needs and reduce food insecurity in vulnerable areas. Building Strong Partnerships By collaborating with local and international organizations, we bring innovative, impactful programs to Nassau, creating a network of support that drives long-term community resilience.
