    Is the NFC North the BEST Division in the NFL?!

    We’ve been waiting for the Detroit Lions to take that final step towards the Super Bowl for some time.  The Green Bay Packers are always on everyone’s radar and have young talent up and down the roster.  Expectations are high for the newly Indiana-relocated Chicago Bears in Caleb Williams’ third season following a playoff victory.  And don’t count out the Minnesota Vikings. JJ McCarthy is on the shelf, the defense is stacked, and Kyler Murray is in town on a 1-year, “prove-it” contract.     Steelers & Ravens Officially Chart New Eras

    Two long-time stalwarts in the AFC North have always been John Harbaugh with the Baltimore Ravens and Mike Tomlin with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Welp… not anymore! A breath of fresh air comes into the beltway with Jesse Minter but is a first-time head coach the voice to lead a veteran-laden squad of Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry? Aaron Rodgers returns to the Steel City for one last ride before he turns to the sunset and he lets bygones by bygones in giving the kiss of approval for the Rooney’s to hire hometown hero Mike McCarthy. Can some key veteran additions and rookie plucks put A-Rod back into the playoff picture? And then we have the Bengals…. and the Browns. A revamped defense in Cincinnati could hold the key to Zac Taylor keeping his job and Tood Monken has a mess in Cleveland deciding whether to go with the mercurial headache of Deshaun Watson or the ever-developing, but electric, Shedeur Sanders.     Eagles & Cowboys Tinker, Giants BLOW IT UP!

    The Philadelphia Eagles are only a year and change removed from a Super Bowl championship. A chunk of the core is still there, except one major piece… AJ Brown. Nick Sirianni and Howie Roseman chose to fill this hole with draft pieces but will a slot receiver from the west coast and a new Tight End to spell Dallas Goedert be enough to ease Jalen Hurts’ woes? The Dallas Cowboys are usually expected to make offseason noice but Year 2 under Brian Schottenheimer may bring mostly maintenance. Some swaps calling a woeful defense and taking care of playmakers Javonte Williams and George Pickens may look OK on paper, but will Caleb Downs’ fall in the draft and a new scheme be enough to turn around this dreadful defense? PLUS, Washington just hopes some tinkering and a new franchise linebacker is enough to right the ship. And oh yeah, a healthy season from Jayden Daniels.  Meanwhile, the team that DID NOT have a quiet offseason was the New York Giants. Mike Tomlin was expected to get the job and all of a sudden, enter John Harbaugh. A big shakeup in the Draft and a load of new wideouts in, led by a VERY familiar face, is this enough to make the G-Men competitive or are they another Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo injury away from falling back to the basement?     Bills Mafia Shakeup, AJ + Drake & the Dolphins Disaster

    You’d think the New England Patriots would be feeling pretty good after making the Super Bowl in Drake Maye’s second year. But after getting embarrassed and thrown around like a rag doll, they didn’t stand pat and brought in two huge new targets in the mercurial AJ Brown and Romeo Doubs. As far as not standing pat goes, we suppose Sean McDermott’s seat got a little too hot in Buffalo. As Buccs McGee called his shot with McDermott heading out of town, Joe Brady was elevated to head coach to maintain his offensive relationship with “Super” Josh Allen instead going after the proven veteran head coaches on the market. Add in DJ Moore for virtually nothing and beef up the defense, can Josh and the Bills finally make it to the promised land? PLUS, what exactly is happening with the disasters in Miami and New York? The Dolphins completely cleaned house by firing Mike McDaniel and shipping off Tua Tagovailoa and Jaylen Waddle and replacing them with…. Jeff Hafley and Malik Willis? Could be a long season in South Beach. The New York Jets usually do have “long seasons” and will Aaron Glenn’s seat get undeservedly hot? After grabbing a young and tested QB from the college ranks and two stud receiving options, it all rests on… Geno Smith.     QB Carousels, Contract Disputes & Sub.-500 Champs!

    For a division that can’t field a winner above .500, there sure is a lot going on in the NFC South. The Falcons fell apart last year and decided to not only bring in a new voice with former Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski, but also another injury-prone quarterback in Tua Tagovailoa. And guess what? No one knows if either will be ready for Week 1. Speaking of QBs, the Bucs couldn’t quite figure out how to lock up Baker Mayfield long term and that’s not the only contract that’s up in the air as All-Pro Vita Vea wants greener pastures?
