Orbit for Creators

Valentin - The European Creator Guy

Orbit for Creators is a show about exploring how creators succeed today and what that success looks like. Each episode tackles a real challenge creators face, through conversations with people who’ve found meaningful solutions. The show is built on shared truths from the broader creator journey, not opinions or a single experience. Providing a canvas for our guests, introducing them to our audience, and every video answers a single question, creators ask every day. Forget the algorithm. Create with friends.

Diablo, WoW, Skyrim — that kind of thing. So when D&D started popping up on my radar I was curious, but it took me until 2019 to actually try it.When I finally did, I had no idea what I was doing. I picked up the Icespire Peak campaign and just started Googling. That's how I found Bob. He had this way of explaining everything that just made sense.A year later during the pandemic I started my first YouTube Channel called Cardboard Cleric. It was about D&D and crafting and surprisingly it became my first real experience of making money on the internet. But in 2023 in the lead up to D&D's 50th anniversary things got messy. You see D&D isn't just a fun game it's a multi million dollar IP that is effectively owned by Hasbro, the toy company. They saw a lot of opportunity in the anniversary to reshape the game and make more money with it. The problem was just that the community fiercely fought back and not a day went by without drama. That's when I had to stop making content about it and I was already on my path to launch this channel, Orbit for Creators. Bob on the other hand stayed in the niche and he handled it better than almost anyone. Thoughtful, level-headed, somehow managing to talk to both sides of a very angry fanbase without losing himself in it. And through all of that he built up a business. In large part because of his Patreon, publishing his own adventures, and sponsorships. He was able to build a sustainable career doing what he loves.I've wanted to have this conversation ever since he taught me how to play, honestly. Because his videos make it look effortless, and I wanted better understand the reality behind the content. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Chapters0:00 Who is Bob World Builder?1:05 The journey to go full-time9:36 Being forced to go full time16:24 When a community turns toxic23:09 Going Viral with shorts31:02 Making a creator career sustainable37:41 What does success look like?---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------About the ChannelHi, I’m Valentin.
