The Journey West County

Welcome to The Journey West County Podcast. We are a church just west of St. Louis, Missouri. Our heart is simple: We want you to enjoy God's grace, embody his love for one another, and engage your culture as an ambassador of Christ. The way we do that is also simple, and ultimately, this is our prayer for you: that you would love being with Jesus. That you would begin to do the things that Jesus did when he was here on earth. And then as you go about your work and life you would link arms with Jesus and partner with him to see his kingdom come in your life, in St. Louis, and in this world. We would love for you to join us on a Sunday at 625 Meramec Station Rd Manchester, MO 63021 at 9:00 or 10:45 am. For more information, visit: thejourney.org

A Kingdom of Priests (Exodus 28:1-12) | Into the Wild - Tim Holley

The book of Exodus is far more than a collection of familiar children's stories. For many of us, Exodus brings to mind baby Moses in a basket, the ten plagues, the parting of the Red Sea, the golden calf, and Israel wandering in the wilderness. These stories have become so familiar that it's easy to lose sight of their humanity, their weight, and their relevance. But Exodus isn't just Israel's story; it mirrors our own story. Though separated from us by thousands of years and a vastly different culture, the themes of Exodus are remarkably familiar. Like Israel, we question God's sovereignty, resist His pursuit of us, and struggle to understand what it means to live as a rescued people. Over the course of 13 weeks, we'll journey through Exodus and discover that God's rescue was never simply about freedom from oppression; it was always about relationship. As God draws His people into His presence, we'll see that the deepest longing of every human heart is to know and be known by our Creator. Yet that invitation is met with resistance, both around us and within us. Together, we'll learn what it means to trust Him in the wilderness, follow Him in obedience, and live as a people shaped by His presence. // Questions for Reflection & Discussion  How does understanding God's mandate for Adam and Eve in Genesis shape your understanding of the priestly role in Exodus?  Why do you think God established priests as mediators for the Israelites?  How and why is Jesus the greater high priest?   What is your reaction to God calling you into a priesthood of believers?  What is one specific way you can live out your priestly calling to the people or context God has placed you in?

The Tabernacle (Exodus 25:1-9) | Into the Wild - Tim Holley

Obedience Grounded in Grace (Exodus 19:3-7) | Into the Wild - Andy Chambers

The book of Exodus is far more than a collection of familiar children's stories. For many of us, Exodus brings to mind baby Moses in a basket, the ten plagues, the parting of the Red Sea, the golden calf, and Israel wandering in the wilderness. These stories have become so familiar that it's easy to lose sight of their humanity, their weight, and their relevance. But Exodus isn't just Israel's story; it mirrors our own story. Though separated from us by thousands of years and a vastly different culture, the themes of Exodus are remarkably familiar. // Questions for Reflection & Discussion  What stood out to you from the sermon? How were you encouraged? Challenged? God gave the 10 Commandments (the Law) after liberating Israel from slavery in Egypt. Grace precedes the law. Why is this order of that important? What does this order say about God's character? Can you remember a time when you trusted God faithfully while you were in the wilderness (i.e., a season of difficulty)? What does it mean to you that you are "God's treasured possession?" How does that change the way you see yourself?  Being God's treasured possession is intended to make God's name known. Brainstorm ways in which that can happen in your relationship at home, in your neighborhoods, your places of work, and the larger community. How many ideas can you collectively come up with? The first four commandments focus on loving God, while the remaining six focus on loving others. Which of these areas—your devotion to God or your relationships with others—is more challenging for you right now? What is one practical way you could grow in obedience this week?
