the dance floor is dead so now we're making a rock music episode

Noting here that I recorded this before Wink Wink came out and I want to make it known here that it's easily my favorite of the singles! Love that it's reflective without being corny and nostalgic... Also the video is hot so we have to celebrate that! Looking forward to the full record obvs! This is more of a Rock Music dissection and a personal catch up episode but we will be discussing the full record once it comes out. Maybe this is a music podcast now! I can do whatever I want :)

the TRUTH behind the lorde x jack antonoff powerpoint | american in peril

Before you start listening, I do recommend going and listening to the And Introducing episode w/ Powerpoint creator Buzzkillary. That’s the Spotify link, but it’s also on Soundcloud here. Listen on 2x speed and come back. It provides the base for some of my research here and I would recommend familiarizing yourself. Or you could not do that and just take my word for it. That’s fine, too. Anyway, this one was fun! I like having a deep dive topic like this, you guys! Research is fun! Follow me! Substack - American in Peril Instagram / Letterboxd - notmckinzie

the sicko episode: famesick, euphoria s3, and the hyperpop resurgence

I really just love using the word sicko, so I'm glad I can use it here. let me know what you think about euphoria specifically guys because I reallllly hate it like since recording this I have caught up with all of the current episodes and I think it's time to put sam levinson to pasture I really can't do it anymore you guys!! also thanks for listening to these because lately I've been feeling like posting online in a humiliation ritual so all the nice things I hear do make it worth it 3 I love all seven of my fans! follow me on substack - american in peril and instagram - notmckinzie

every book I read last year ranked because I can | american in peril

sorry for the nasty and disgusting quality of this episode, I filmed this one on my stupid phone and it took up so much space on my laptop that I had to literally delete logic and also all of my photos to edit it and export it so you get the quality you deserve. or maybe the quality I deserve, because it's my fault for not using an external drive and also for filming on my stupid phone where every video is like minimum 1 gb of storage. what's that all about? apple explain.

logging back on to talk I Love LA | american in peril

I'm back bitches!! in this one we discuss why I left, the etymology of "slop", I Love LA, hyper-localism, TV being kind of bad, and getting off that damn phone. acknowledging the audio is a little busted, troubleshooting for next time!! but it's my right to film on my laptop... you'll take that from my cold dead hands.references in this one:American Psycho (dir. every book I read in 2024: a ranking

I would provide a list of the books here but then you could just scroll down and see all of them which would be cheating so instead I will link you to my goodreads even though I kind of hate goodreads but I do use it to keep track of things so here it is! there is another mckinzie smith on goodreads where the icon is a girl wearing quirky girl square glasses and it's also me but it's my account from high school so please ignore it... I don't know her like that anymore. I haven't shopped from modcloth in years. also follow me on: twitter: liamgirllagher instagram: notmckinzie pi.fyi: americaninperil

Liam Payne :( Pt. 1 | American in Peril (Bonus Ep)

I'll be back with an election episode soon but in the meantime, my friend Mikayla (and biggest 1D supporter I know) and I had a chat about Liam Payne hours after finding out about his passing; processing a bit of grief and confusion. We recorded more a couple weeks later to talk more in-depth about it, so I'll be uploading that later this month. Anyway, hope everyone is taking care of themselves and I will see you soon (I would add a heart here but apparently angled brackets aren't allowed on youtube, STUPID) Follow Mikayla here: Instagram - mikaylington Follow me here: Instagram - notmckinzie Twitter - liamgirllagher Tumblr - kisscharlikiss pi.fyi - americaninperil Usually I would include sources or recommendations here based on what we talked about but this was off the cuff so some 1D faves to go check out: Fireproof Stockholm Syndrome Where Do Broken Hearts Go What a Feeling Night Changes Perfect Rock Me Little Black Dress Little White Lies No Control Change Your Ticket One Direction: This Is Us (concert film) - Martin Scorsese is in this!

    Oasis Takes the Substance

in this episode we discuss the oasis reunion, the brat remix record (belatedly), and the substance. topics covered include noel gallagher wishing death upon damon albarn, matty healy saying something stupid (I almost considered calling this the white british guys episode but I needed clickbait sorry), and beauty norms of previous decades vs. today. spoiler: filler is in but looking like you have it is out. follow me on: twitter - liamgirllagher instagram, letterboxd - notmckinzie pi.fyi - americaninperil
