This podcast is based on the research, writings, and content created by John E. Cassinat found principally in his two-volume book entitled The Book of Revelation Doctrinal Commentary: Unveiling Jesus Christ. The book focuses on the unveiling of Jesus Christ as seen through the eyes of John the Revelator. The podcast sets forth the views and opinions of theologians and Biblical scholars from many different religions, although the doctrinal views of the apocalypse predominantly align with those found in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. John the Revelator’s symbolism and images are explained with reference to multiple Old Testament books, including Daniel, Ezekiel, Isaiah, Joel and Zechariah. Jesus Christ is the major focus of this podcast from the time of his premortal existence through the time of the celestialization of the earth. Within these broad parameters, podcast topics will include a discussion of the creation of spirit bodies in premortality; the premortal conflict between Lucifer (Satan) and Jehovah (Christ) during the grand council in heaven and the war in heaven; Christ’s physical creation of multiple worlds; the mortal ministry of Christ among the Jews and the establishment of his ancient church; the postmortal ministry of Christ’s spirit in paradise after His crucifixion; the post-resurrection ministry of Christ among the Jews on the eastern hemisphere, the Nephites on the western hemisphere and the lost ten tribes of Israel; the ongoing conflicts between Christ and Satan in the earthly kingdoms of Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, Rome and the modern nations of the earth; the great apostasy that followed the apostolic period; the restoration of Christ’s latter-day church in preparation for His Second Coming and the resurrection of His saints; and Christ’s millennial reign of peace on the renewed and paradisiacal earth for 1000 years, followed by the final defeat of Satan’s kingdom at the end of the earth.     [§297] Rev 18:6-7: Modern Babylon Rewarded Double for Her Works

    This podcast explains the imagery and symbolism used by John in revelation 18:6-8, which describe the Lord’s judgment on Modern Babylon at the time of the Second Coming. These verses say: “Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double. How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow. Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.” The double judgment is an idiom that expresses a complete judgment that is equal to a punishment that fits the crime. This judgment comes because Modern Babylon arrogantly and pridefully glorifies herself in luxurious living conditions. She claims to sit as a queen that is above and beyond judgment or punishment. She also claims that because she is no widow, she shall see no sorrow. Her logic is completely circular. She is the great whore who has no husband and whose sorrow is therefore eternal. The plagues of Babylon will come in one day as a literal judgment, similar to the fall of ancient Babylon to the Persian armies of Cyrus in a single day. This one-day judgment shall bring about four conditions that include death and morning, as well as a famine that is both physical and spiritual. The fourth condition is fire that will burn Modern Babylon completely. God will bring about these four conditions, for the power of God is far superior to the power of Babylon.

    [§296] Rev 18:4-5: The Saints Are Commanded to Flee Modern Babylon

    This podcast explains the imagery and symbolism used by John in revelation 18:4-5, which states: “And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.” The other voice in heaven is God the Father. No later than the gathering of saints at Adam-ondi-Ahman, he warns his covenant people who are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to come out of Modern Babylon and come to Zion in Missouri. Those who fail to heed this warning will partake of the sins of Modern Babylon and will therefore receive her plagues during the seventh vial plague of the Third Woe at the second coming. God will remember the sins of Modern Babylon and will be justified in destroying Babylon and her citizens because her sins will be like the wickedness of people in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah, the days of Noah, and the days of the apostate Nephites on the American continent. The destruction of Babylon is two-fold: The spiritual fall of Babylon will occur at the time of the gathering of saints at Adam-ondi-Ahman. The physical fall of Babylon will occur during the seventh vial plague of the Third Woe at Christ’s Second Coming.

    [§295] Rev 18:1-3: The Spiritual Fall of the Great Whore [Modern Babylon]

    This podcast explains the imagery and symbolism used by John in Revelation 18:1-3, which state: “AND after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.” The other angel in Revelation 18:1 is Jesus Christ, who appears at the gathering of saints at Adam-ondi-Ahman to be coronated King of kings and Lord of lords. A similar description of Christ is found in Revelation 10:3. Revelation 10:3 describes the rise of Christ’s power on earth, while Revelation 18:1 describes the corresponding loss of Satan’s power, saying: “Babylon is fallen, is fallen.” Babylon falls spiritually at the time the saints gather to Adam-ondi-Ahman, 3½ years before the Second Coming. The physical fall of Babylon will occur at the Second Coming, which John records in in subsequent verses in Revelation 18. When Modern Babylon falls spiritually, the world will become the habitation of devils. This means the earth will become a spiritually desolate place for all unembodied and disembodied spirit sons of perdition who have their influence on earth. This earth will become a hold (a place of detention like a holding cell) for these foul spirits, and a cage for these metaphorically unclean and hateful birds. When Babylon falls spiritually, these evil spirits and devils will no longer have their customary freedom to influence people on earth to commit evil. However, they will not be removed from the earth until Modern Babylon falls physically during the seventh vial plague of the Third Woe. John describes their removal in Revelation 19:20 for disembodied spirit sons of perdition and in Revelation 20:1-3 for unembodied spirit sons of perdition. Revelation 18:3 describes three reasons why Modern Babylon will fall both spiritually and physically. First, Modern Babylon will fall because all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of fornication supplied by the Great Whore of false religion. Second, the kings of the earth have committed spiritual fornication with her, which means they have forsaken Jesus Christ to worship modern idols including riches, fame, and immoral acts of self-indulgence. Third, and finally, Babylon will fall because the merchants of the earth are waxed rich by selling the worldly goods of Modern Babylon that have no redeeming quality.

    [§294] Rev 17:18: The Great Whore Reigns over Modern Babylon

    This podcast explains the imagery and symbolism used by John in Revelation 17:18, which states: “And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.” This verse is dualistic, which means it has two separate meanings. The symbol of the woman of false religion is first identified as that great city. This refers to Rome as the seat of power in the ancient Roman Empire, including the Holy Roman Empire through the time of the Protestant Reformation. From ancient Rome, the Roman emperors ruled over the kings of the earth throughout the middle and dark ages, Ancient Rome is a type and foreshadow for Spiritual Babylon in the modern era. Revelation 17:18 identifies Modern Babylon (the Great Whore and Babylon the Great) as that great city which also reigns over the kings of the earth. Modern Babylon is not a single city but a collection of all cities where the evils of Modern Babylon can be found. Modern Babylon is the anti-type for Rome, which is also an anti-type for ancient Babylon. ancient Babylon was the seat of great wickedness since at least the days of Nimrod and the tower of Babel.

    [§293] Rev 17:16-17: Ten Horns Shall Hate and Burn the Great Whore

    This podcast explains the symbolism and imagery used by John in Revelation 17:16-17, which states: “And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire. For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.” Horns are a symbol of power and then ten horns represent one part of the whole sum of Satan’s power on earth in the last days. The power of the ten horns resides in the ten kings that represent the modern nations of the world. These ten kings are also part of the Second Beast from Revelation 13:11-18. The Second Beast is synonymous with Modern Babylon, which is corrupted by the influence of the Great Whore of false religion until the time of the Second Coming when the ten kings will then hate the whore of false religion and will seek to destroy her. The desolate, and naked condition of the Great Whore means that she will be openly exposed for everyone to see who and what she actually is. When that occurs, her flesh shall be eaten and she shall be burned as a symbol of her complete destruction and annihilation. All this will occur according to the will of God, even though the destruction of the Great Whore is carried out by Modern Babylon which is an enemy to God. Modern Babylon is ultimately an instrument in the fulfillment of God’s will and his righteous purposes.

    [§291] Rev 17:14: The Latter-day War of the Kings/Beast with the Lamb

    This podcast explains the symbolism and imagery used by John the Revelator in the Book of Revelation, chapter 17:14-15, which states: “These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful. And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.” The persons making war with the Lamb (Jesus Christ) are the ten kings which represent a whole of the part of all modern nations and earthly kingdoms that unite with the Great Whore of false religion to engage in a war against the kingdom of God on earth since the restoration of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1830. Modern nations and new geopolitical divisions have been forming since the early 1800s, which coincide with the rise of Satan’s seventh kingdom known as Modern Babylon, the Second Beast from Revelation 13:11-18, and the little horn from Daniel 7:8. The Civil War in America was the first modern war against the Lamb, where Satan sought to destroy the United States as the birthplace and cradle for the restored church. Since that time, wars have multiplied as part of Satan’s ongoing effort to make war with the Lamb. The Lamb will ultimately prevail because he is Lord of lords and King of kings, which means that at the Second Coming he will rule over both and ecclesiastical and political kingdom because all other earthly kingdoms will be destroyed. At the Second Coming, Christ will be accompanied by a heavenly host identified as the 144,000 Servants who stand with the Lamb on heavenly Mount Zion in Revelation 14:1, and then descend with him at his Second Coming. Revelation 17:15 refers to the Great Whore sitting on many waters that represent wicked people in all the world who support her wicked ideals and her warfare against the Lamb. The waters are identified using the world number four (4) to represent the geographical and worldwide completeness of all peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues.

    [§290] Rev 17:12-13: The Beast Empowers Ten Kings [Modern Nations]

    This podcast explains the imagery and symbolism used by John in Revelation 17:12-13, which states: “And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.” The ten horns are mentioned several times in the book of Revelation, including the 10 horns on the seventh head of the First Beast in Revelation 13:1, and again on the scarlet-colored beast in Revelation 17:2. The ten horns represent power. They are ten in number to symbolize that they are one part of the whole power of Satan’s seventh kingdom in the modern era. Revelation 17:12 indicates that the ten horns also represent ten kings or kingdoms in the modern era since the fall of the Holy Roman Empire in the early 1800s. When John had his vision in 96 AD, these ten kings had received no kingdom. However, the ten kings and their evolving kingdoms now exist in these last days. The ten kings receive power as kings one hour with the Second Beast (Rev 13:11-18), which means that the modern nations incrementally come and go as each receives power from the beast. This power corrupts the leaders of nations and ungodly institutions. The modern nations have one mind with the beast, which means they share the same purpose and goal of wickedness and evil in the last days. As modern nations become increasingly corrupt and more powerful because of their corruption, they give back power to the Great Whore of false religion. She then becomes even more powerful and influential as we approach the Second Coming.

    [§287] Rev 17:9: The Seven Heads and Mountains of Ancient Rome

    This podcast explains the imagery and symbolism used by John in Revelation 17:9-11. These verses state: “And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth. And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space. And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.” The mind which hath wisdom is similar to the saying found in each of the letters to the seven churches in Asia Minor, which state: “He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith.” Wisdom born of the Spirit is required to understand and apply the message concerning the woman of false religion who sits on the scarlet colored beast that has seven heads. The seven heads are also seven mountains that represent the hills upon which Rome was built. This means that the beast represents the Roman Empire. These verses also identify seven kings who represent the seven earthly kingdoms of Satan. The five fallen kingdoms are Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Persia, and Greece. The Roman empire is the sixth kingdom that still is, as of the time of John’s vision in 96 AD. The seventh kingdom yet to come is the Second Beast from Revelation 13, and Babylon the Great (Modern Babylon) from Revelation 17:5. The seventh kingdom exists in the modern age beginning in the early 1830s at the same time the gospel of Jesus Christ was restored to the earth. The seventh kingdom continues a short space between 1830 and the Second Coming when Modern Babylon will fall. The beast in Revelation 17 also represents an eighth kingdom that will come during the little season after the millennium. At that time, the battle of Gog and Magog will be fought as both a spiritual and physical battle. Satan and his unembodied spirit sons of perdition will be defeated and cast into perdition by Michael and his heavenly host at the end of the earth.
