The Interchange Podcast

Interchange

Interchange is about integrated transport infrastructure as the solution to achieving a more effective and decarbonised transport network. The Interchange podcast is a monthly show, produced in association with Arcadis https://www.arcadis.com/en Hosted by Ayo Abbas, the show will drill down into the challenges, the opportunities and the economic, environmental and societal benefits we could gain by having a low carbon, seamless, and fully integrated transport system that works. Each month we’re going to ask some of the greatest thinkers in the sector to help us unpick the main blockers, highlight the enablers and identify the infrastructure investment needed to support the transition. The Interchange Podcast interviews leading changemakers and thinkers about how we can make integrated transport infrastructure happen. This season’s discussions fall under 4 key themes: Place, Data and Digitisation, Energy and Environment. This podcast series is part of Interchange, which is a platform that culminates in a thought-provoking two-day major conference being held on 04/05 March 2025 at Manchester Central. Integrated transport begins from a point of understanding, Andy Clarke, Costain

Welcome to The Interchange podcast where our guest is Andy Clarke, Director for Integrated Transport at Costain.  In this episode, we discussed: that integrated transport systems must start from a point of understanding our clients' biggest issueshow deeper collaboration is needed across the sector and more openness to changethe key role the private sector can play in the cross-sector fertilisation of knowledge sharing and ideaswhy more modes should use the model developed by the aviation sector to deliver integrated transport systemshow the use of innovative technology such as hydrogen and batteries will play a crucial role in decarbonisation. But we must be mindful that there is no one silver bullet and we will need to adopt multiple approaches.being mindful about introducing technology just for technology’s sake This podcast series is produced in association with Arcadis and hosted by independent broadcaster, Ayo Abbas and interviews leading changemakers and thinkers about how integrated transport infrastructure is the solution to achieving a more effective and decarbonised transport network.
