House on the Rock: Foundational Truth | 9/13/2026

What does it take to build a faith that will still be standing when the storms of life come? In this opening message of the House on the Rock series, we’ll look at Jesus’ conclusion to the Sermon on the Mount and His picture of two builders whose houses looked much the same—until the storm revealed what was underneath. Jesus reminds us that everyone is building a life and a faith, and the choices we make today are laying a foundation for the person we will become tomorrow. The difference between the wise and foolish builders isn’t simply what they know or even what they claim to believe. Jesus says the wise builder hears His words and puts them into practice. We’ll discover why a lasting faith is built through trusting Christ’s authority, obeying His teaching, and repeatedly putting His words into action until they shape the way we actually live. Storms will come, but Jesus, the Master Architect, has given us the plans for a faith that can withstand them. The question is not whether we’ve heard His words, but whether we’re building our lives on them

Bumper Sticker Theology: Get out of My Way! | 8/30/2026

When the pressure is on and the outcome seems uncertain, is it ever acceptable to compromise what is right in order to make things work? In this message from 1 Samuel 13, Pastor Brent examines King Saul’s decision to take matters into his own hands when Samuel failed to arrive when Saul expected. Faced with a powerful enemy and a rapidly disappearing army, Saul chose what seemed practical—but in doing so, he disobeyed God and began trusting his own judgment more than God’s command. Through Saul’s failure, we’ll confront the seductive idea of pragmatism: “If it works, it must be right.” Scripture calls us to something different. Rather than manipulating circumstances, rationalizing compromise, or using God to accomplish our plans, we’re called to obey what God has said and trust Him with the results. Saul wanted God’s power more than he wanted God Himself; the challenge for us is to choose faithfulness even when obedience doesn’t appear to produce the outcome we want. When the pressure rises, will we do what works—or will we do what’s right and leave the results to God?

    Bumper Sticker Theology: John 3:16 | 8/23/2026

John 3:16 may be the most familiar verse in the Bible, but what does it really mean to be “born again”? In this message, we’ll step into Jesus’ nighttime conversation with Nicodemus—a respected, moral, deeply religious man who discovers that none of his knowledge, accomplishments, or religious devotion can give him eternal life. Through Jesus’ words and two powerful Old Testament pictures, we’ll see that salvation isn’t something we achieve for God; it is a work God does in us through His Spirit. Together we discover how John 3:16 brings the whole conversation into focus: God loves a condemned world so deeply that He gave His Son so that whoever believes in Him can receive new life. Christianity is not about becoming good enough, religious enough, or devoted enough to earn God’s acceptance. It is about looking to Christ, trusting what He has done for us, and experiencing the transformation only God can give. The question Nicodemus faced is the same one each of us must answer: Have I truly been born again?

Bumper Sticker Theology: Honk for Jesus | 8/16/2026

We live in a world constantly competing for our attention, but what if our biggest distractions aren't necessarily bad things? In this message from Luke 10, we'll look at the familiar story of Mary and Martha and discover how easily good responsibilities can crowd out what matters most. Martha wasn't doing something wrong—she was simply so focused on serving Jesus that she became distracted from actually being with Jesus. Her story challenges us to examine the things filling our calendars, consuming our attention, and leaving us worried, exhausted, and unable to be fully present. Jesus offers a different way to live: move from the many, to the few, and ultimately to the one thing that matters most. We'll learn to identify what's competing for our attention, reduce and reorder our priorities, and make our relationship with Jesus the center of our lives. The question isn't simply, "What am I doing?" but "Is what has my attention right now really the most important thing?"

    Bumper Sticker Theology: F.I.S.H. | 8/9/2026

How can people tell that we're Christians before we ever tell them? Using the familiar Christian fish symbol as a starting point, this message turns to 1 Peter to explore what should truly identify a follower of Jesus. Peter reminds believers that we are "foreigners and exiles" in this world—people whose deepest identity and allegiance belong to Christ rather than the surrounding culture. Instead of simply displaying the symbols of Christianity, we're called to live differently in ways that make Christ visible through our character and conduct. Through the simple framework of F-I-S-H, we'll discover what this kind of life looks like: identify as a foreigner, live a life of integrity, model a spirit of submission, and honor others. Rather than withdrawing from culture or trying to force it to change, Peter challenges us to live such good lives among those around us that our integrity, good deeds, humility, and respect point people toward God. The question becomes more personal than whether we wear a Christian symbol: Could someone tell that I follow Jesus simply by watching the way I live?

Bumper Sticker Theology: Jesus is coming, look busy! | 8/2/2026

Jesus promised that He is coming again but what should His followers be doing until that day arrives? In this message from the Olivet Discourse, Pastor Brent explores four powerful illustrations Jesus gives to answer that very question. Rather than merely "looking busy," Christ calls His people to live with faithful expectation by remaining committed to His mission, spiritually prepared for His return, courageous in using the gifts and opportunities He has entrusted to them, and compassionate toward "the least of these." As Brent walks through these familiar parables, we'll be challenged to see that readiness isn't about predicting when Jesus will return, but about faithfully serving Him every day until He does. His return is certain, and our lives today should reflect that reality. The question isn't whether we're busy, but whether we're faithfully investing our lives in what matters most to the King who has promised to come again

Bumper Sticker Theology: Jesus would let me merge | 7/26/2026

What happens when our faith becomes more about what we can get from Jesus than how we can become more like Him? In this message from Mark 10, Brent explores the surprising request of James and John to receive the highest places of honor in Christ's kingdom and discover how their ambition exposed deeper issues of presumption and entitlement. Jesus turns their expectations upside down, revealing that greatness in His kingdom is not found through privilege, recognition, or power, but through humility, sacrifice, and serving others. As we examine our own hearts, we'll be challenged to consider whether we've allowed self-interest to shape our faith. Rather than asking Jesus to advance our agenda, we'll learn to embrace a life marked by gratitude for God's gifts, grace toward others, and a willingness to serve as Christ Himself served. In God's kingdom, the way up is down, and true greatness is found by following the example of the One who "did not come to be served, but to serve."

Bumper Sticker Theology: Do you Follow Jesus this Closely? | 7/12/2026

What does it really mean to follow Jesus? In this message, Brent begins a new series by looking beyond a familiar bumper sticker and into Jesus' own invitation: "Follow Me." Walking through several key passages from the Gospels, we discover that following Christ is far more than admiring Him from a distance or simply adding Him to an already busy life. Jesus calls His followers to leave behind competing priorities, embrace His mission, listen for His voice above all the others, and trust Him even when the path is uncertain or costly. The challenge for each of us is not simply whether we claim to follow Jesus, but how closely we are actually walking with Him. Are we following at a safe distance, or are we trusting Him enough to let Him shape every part of our lives?
