Come along with MJ as they embark on a personal journey of training runs and races, culminating in their inaugural multi-day ultramarathon, while managing type 1 diabetes. MJ resides in Melbourne, Australia. They are a professional voice-over artist, father, husband and long-distance trail runner living with type 1 diabetes. Following their diagnosis in 2018 they started running, which became long distance running, and in 2023 they are completing 6 trail runs ranging from 25km - 43km on some of Victoria's most beautiful and challenging mountain trails.     Episode 1 - Diagnosis and why I started running

    After being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes 5 years ago, I started running. At first, it was very gradual and cautious as I was highly insulin sensitive, and any type of exercise was quite scary.  The post exercise low blood sugar was quite intense, and it took a while to feel in control.  But once I got out there on the roads, paths, and trails, I knew I had caught the bug, and now I constantly find myself asking... what's next? Join me on my journey to complete my first 100-mile multi day ultra marathon in 2024, all whilst managing type 1 diabetes.
