I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE | What Jesus Meant in John 6:35 | Powerful Christian Sermon What did Jesus Christ mean when He declared, “I am the bread of life”? In John 6:35 (NIV), Jesus declared: “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” The world offers many things to satisfy the human heart—money, success, possessions, pleasure, recognition, education, religion, and power. Yet none of these things can satisfy the deepest hunger of the soul. Physical bread can sustain the body temporarily, but only Jesus Christ, the Bread of Life, can save the soul and give eternal life. You may have enough food on your table and still have an empty heart. You may be successful before people and spiritually starving before God. You may attend church, know Christian language, and possess religious knowledge, yet never personally receive Jesus Christ by faith. Jesus did not say that He merely gives bread. He declared that He is the Bread of Life. Salvation is not found in religious ceremonies, human achievements, good works, or denominational membership. Salvation is found in Jesus Christ alone. In this powerful, Christ-centered sermon, Evangelist Dr. Gabriel Oluwakotanmi explains: What Jesus meant when He said, “I am the Bread of Life”Why every human soul desperately needs Jesus ChristThe difference between physical hunger and spiritual hungerWhy worldly success cannot satisfy the soulHow Jesus fulfills our deepest spiritual needWhy knowing about Jesus is not the same as trusting HimWhat it means to come to Christ and believe in HimWhy rejecting Jesus is rejecting God’s provision for eternal lifeHow repentance and faith lead to salvationWhy the Bread of Life is essential for eternityJesus warned in John 6:27 (NIV): “Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life.” Everything you possess in this world will eventually pass away. Your money will be left behind. Your career will end. Your body will grow weak. Your earthly accomplishments will fade. But your soul will live forever. The most urgent question is not, “What will I eat today?” The most urgent question is, “Has my soul received Jesus Christ, the Bread of Life?” Do not mistake familiarity with Christianity for saving faith. Knowing facts about Christ does not save. Attending church without surrendering to Christ does not save. Religious activity without repentance does not save. You must personally come to Jesus, trust Him, receive His forgiveness, and surrender your life to Him. Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins, was buried, and rose victoriously from the dead. He now offers forgiveness, salvation, and eternal life to everyone who repents and believes in Him. The world may feed your desires, but only Jesus Christ can feed your starving soul. Rejecting Jesus Christ is rejecting the only Bread heaven has provided. Without Him, a person may be physically alive while remaining spiritually dead. If this message speaks to your heart, do not harden it. Turn away from sin and come to Jesus Christ today. He will forgive you, cleanse you, restore you, and give you eternal life.
