#182: When You Can’t Think Your Way Through It

What would change if you loosened your grip on who you think you are? In this episode of The Angela Montano Hour: Prayer on the Air, Angela explores what becomes possible when we stop living so tightly inside our own point of view. When we are caught in the push and pull of the thought field, trying to figure out what should happen next, there is very little available besides more push, more pull. But as Angela reminds us, “thoughts are no problem if we let thoughts think.” When our grip loosens, even slightly, we become available to something steadier underneath: the Love that is immovable. Love is never dormant. Divine loving attention is always present. It only needs our attention. Angela explores contemplation as an activation of curiosity for a spiritual aim, opening us to insight beyond our current purview. And she asks a beautiful question: How lightly can I hold myself? She also offers a powerful distinction between reciprocity and receivership: moving from the expectation that what we give should come back to us in a particular way, toward trusting what is ours by right of consciousness and becoming willing to receive our good in ways we may not have anticipated. This week’s prayer requests bring these teachings into two very human experiences: When your work isn’t bringing the results you hoped for: Angela explores receivership, breadth versus depth, trusting guidance, and the willingness to listen for what is truly ours to do.Processing grief, anger, and loss: Angela explores how blame can keep anger from circulating and releasing, and how we can allow anger to move without allowing anger to have us. The invitation throughout is to hold ourselves a little more lightly, listen beyond the thought field, and become available to the Love that is already here. When we can’t think our way through it, perhaps there is something deeper to listen for. —----- About The Angela Montano Hour: Prayer on the Air Prayer on the Air is a global prayer community reaching people in more than 75 countries. #181: When the Next Step Is Enough

What if we don’t need to know the whole way forward? In this episode of Prayer on the Air, Angela explores the simplicity of divine guidance and what becomes possible when we loosen our grip on the past, the future, and the mind’s need to reach a conclusion. “Faith is the withholding of a conclusion,” spiritual teacher Adyashanti says. And when we withhold our conclusions, something else becomes available: the loving intelligence of the universe has an available portal through us. Sometimes the guidance that arises is remarkably simple. Go brush your teeth. Go back to bed. Wash the dishes. Do the next thing that occurs to a clear mind in the now. The ego may insist that divine guidance needs a bigger “wow factor.” But Angela invites us to consider that the simple instructions of divine loving intelligence always serve the greater joy, peace, and love of us. Even the simplest experience can hold holiness. This week’s prayer request beautifully brings the teaching to life. A mother asks for prayer around a stressful dynamic with her adult son, wondering what she needs to let go of or shift and how they might find greater harmony. Together, we pray beyond the urge to force a solution. What if neither person is the gatekeeper of the other’s peace or freedom? What if there is nothing to force? As Angela reminds us, peace is ours by right of consciousness. Freedom is ours by right of consciousness. From there, the next step can arise naturally: a wholehearted yes, a wholehearted no, a moment of listening, or simply the next thing that is ours to do. Prayer is solution energy. And when we become less invested in forcing an outcome, we create the spaciousness to let miracles unfold. Perhaps we don’t need the entire answer. Perhaps the next step is enough. —----- About The Angela Montano Hour: Prayer on the Air Prayer on the Air is a global prayer community reaching people in more than 75 countries. #180: Letting the Mystery Do Us

What happens when we stop trying to run the show? In this episode of Prayer on the Air, Angela invites us into a contemplation of trust, allowing, and letting. Our minds are quick to decide: I know. I know what this means. I know what’s going to happen. I know how this should be. But what becomes possible when we loosen our grip on those assumptions and become more available to the loving intelligence of life itself? Angela explores living with “floating question marks” in our consciousness, moving from the ‘I know’ mind into curiosity, receptivity, and mystery. Because again and again, when fear, doubt, and worry loosen their hold, a stunning revelation appears: life works on its own. This week’s prayer requests invite us to practice this together: Finding peace when facing conflict, uncertainty, or the need to prove ourselvesRemembering that our worth and value are not determined by recognition or external circumstancesLetting go of our assumptions about how things should unfold and becoming more available to what is We don’t have the human capacity to zoom out enough to see how all things work together. But perhaps we don’t need to. Perhaps we can trust the allowing. The letting. And let the mystery do us. —----- About The Angela Montano Hour: Prayer on the Air Prayer on the Air is a global prayer community reaching people in more than 75 countries. #179: How to Feel Truly Safe - Once and For All

You are held within incorruptible Love We all want to feel safe — physically, emotionally, financially. So we search for it: in people, in income, in circumstances we hope will hold us steady. But then life happens — a job loss, a mental or physical health crisis, a relationship ends — and we feel so very scared. And in today's world, with news streaming 24/7, many of us feel less and less safe. This episode invites us to go deeper. Is it possible to trade the endless search for safety — through people, conditions, and things — for something far more sustainable? What would it be like to realize the consciousness of safety is already what we are? To know that we are safety is to experience being wrapped in trustworthy, incorruptible Love. In this realization, safety is not something to get, but something to come home to — already happening here and now. Through intimate conversations with live listeners, Angela offers spiritual guidance and radically authentic prayer. Terri Jo shares feelings of abandonment linked to losing her mother as a baby. Eileen navigates an upcoming visit with a friend. Jennifer shares how exhausting it is to judge herself and others. Angela explores the hidden connection between judgment and unworthiness, asking a question worth sitting with: Are you ranking, or are you connecting? May these prayers move you from thought into Presence, from fear into Openness, from judgment into Compassion. You are whole. You are safe. You are not missing anything. -------------------------- Join Angela LIVE every Monday for Prayer on the Air at 11:00 am PT / 2:00 pm ET. #178: What if Nothing is Wrong?

What if the thing creating the most suffering isn’t simply what’s happening—but our resistance to what’s happening? In this deeply tender episode of Prayer on the Air, Angela explores what becomes possible when we stop trying to make life conform to our expectations and begin meeting what is actually here. One of the invitations she returns to is simple and powerful: Don’t quit before the blessing is obtained. But what does that really mean? Perhaps it isn’t about holding tighter to the outcome we think we need. Perhaps it is about staying open -- continuing in prayer while releasing our ideas about what the blessing is supposed to look like. Through conversations about grief, loss, fear, uncertainty, disappointment and change, Angela invites us into a different kind of prayer -- one rooted not in fixing life, but in loving it. She explores the freedom that can come through accepting life’s impermanence and unpredictability, and the possibility that grief can transform us rather than simply being something we need to “get over.” And underneath it all is a profound question: What if nothing is wrong? You don’t have to figure everything out right now. Don’t quit. Stay open. Stay in the loving. ---------- Join Angela LIVE every Monday for Prayer on the Air at 11:00 am PT / 2:00 pm ET. #177: Dwelling in Possibility: What if Love is Already Leading the Way?

Prayer is a language we're always just beginning to fathom. That simple but profound reflection opens this week's episode and sets the stage for an exploration of what it means to dwell in possibility rather than survival. In this episode, Angela invites us to loosen our grip on fear, stop strategizing from survival, and become more receptive to the love that is always here. As we do, old stories begin to lose their hold, fear softens, and new possibilities emerge. As Angela reminds us, Prayer on the Air is more than a podcast. It is a global prayer without ceasing community. Someone is always tuned into this podcast from somewhere in the world, holding the light of love for you and me. Because we all drift. Into fear. Into self-doubt. Into toxic shame. Into unhealthy guilt. As Anne Lamott writes, "My mind is like a bad neighborhood. Better not enter in alone." Prayer gently illuminates those dark places with love, helping us become, even if only by "one one-trillionth," a little less afraid. In this episode, Angela explores: Why you don't have to be "good" at prayerWhat it means to be husbanded by the universeMoving from survival into creativity, kindness, and serviceFollowing the golden breadcrumbs instead of forcing outcomesLiving with both receptivity and intentional actionWhy prayer is a distribution system for love This week's prayers include opening to loving relationship without grasping, discovering new forms of comfort after releasing old coping patterns, and surrendering into a deeper trust. Come exactly as you are. Someone, somewhere, is holding the light of love with you. —----- Join Angela LIVE every Monday for Prayer on the Air at 11:00 am PT / 2:00 pm ET. #176: Peace Before the Circumstances Change

There is a word that comes up often in prayer that most of us find complicated: Surrender. For many of us it sounds like defeat, like giving up, like one more thing we have to do after already doing everything we could think of. But in this episode of The Angela Montano Hour: Prayer on the Air, Angela offers a different way of seeing it. Surrender, she suggests, is not resignation. It is the willingness to let the architecture of suffering dissolve, to release the conviction that our peace must wait until circumstances finally go the way we need them to go.  And once we have surrendered into that mystery, something else becomes possible: asking. Not asking from lack or shame or the desperate hope that getting what we want will finally make us feel worthy. Asking from wholeness. From esteem. From the quiet audacity of believing that even me, even I, deserve more. This in-breath and out-breath of prayer, surrender and opening, is the heart of this week's conversation. Through deeply moving prayer requests, Angela shows us how the practice of surrender and opening can meet us exactly where we are, even in the places that feel most intractable. Sandra is navigating an extraordinary opportunity with her son, recognizing that true peace does not depend on another. What freedom there is in letting go of that need for another to be whom we 'think' we need them to be, and what a gift it is to take that pressure off of both mother and son.Kate's beloved horse Bonfire has withdrawn after a difficult training session, and together they discover that love is present even in the distance, even in the space that doesn't yet look the way Kate feels she needs it to be. Through prayer, we open to the deeper perfection unfolding.Chris brings something so many of us are carrying right now, the weight of watching cruelty unfold in the world, from war to trafficking, and the anguished question of where God is in any of it.Her response to Chris carries the heart of the whole episode: “Love can never be absent, but Love needs a witness.” Prayer, she reminds us, is how we become that witness. It is how we send love into the places where it appears most dormant, trusting that something is happening even when we cannot see it. In this episode: Releasing the dualistic mindset that keeps peace just out of reachAsking from a place of wholeness, not lackAllowing the architecture of suffering to dissolveThe Krishnamurti teaching on peace that changes everythingHow love is present even in distance, even in silenceBecoming a witness to love in the places where it appears most dormant About Prayer on the Air Prayer on the Air is a live weekly gathering where people from more than 75 countries come together to pray, reflect, and remember the presence of love at the center of all things. #175: The Incredible Life of the Modern-Day Mystic

In this heartfelt episode of The Angela Montano Hour: Prayer on the Air, Angela explores what it means to live as a modern-day mystic in the midst of ordinary life.  While monasteries offer a stable environment for practicing the presence of God, most of us navigate work, relationships, uncertainty, and a world that often feels anything but steady. The invitation, Angela reminds us, is not to escape life, but to meet it with a deeper awareness of peace, love, and the divine presence that is always available. Through powerful prayer requests from members of the community, this conversation touches on releasing the trance of scarcity, trusting the long and winding road of love, reclaiming what is ours instead of believing it has been taken from us, and discovering how an open heart and healthy boundaries can exist together.  Along the way, Angela returns to a simple yet profound reminder from A Course in Miracles: "I let peace be my only goal today." Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, navigating conflict, or simply longing to return to your center, this episode offers a gentle invitation to practice the presence, release stressful thinking, and remember that more is going on than meets the eye. Prayer, Angela reminds us, is the way we walk ourselves home to the love that is. In this episode: What it means to live as a modern-day mystic Practicing the presence of God in everyday life Releasing the trance of scarcity and trusting divine abundance Reclaiming what is yours without living in judgment Holding both an open heart and healthy boundaries Using stress as a cue to return to prayer A Course in Miracles reminder: "I let peace be my only goal today."
