    Zechariah 7

In this stirring message, Pastor Joshua Lewis dives into the rich depths of Zechariah 7, drawing out a timeless warning about the perils of empty religious rituals and the profound call to heart-level obedience. Exploring the historical backdrop of post-exilic Judah, Josh highlights how the people’s fasting had become a hollow tradition, devoid of true repentance and love for God and neighbor. Drawing powerful parallels to the traditions we hold today, he challenges us to examine whether our religious practices cultivate righteousness or mere outward appearances. With compelling illustrations—from the “Fiddler on the Roof” to the story of Jehoshaphat and even the faux-spiritual practices of Jesus’ day—Josh paints a vivid picture of how tradition can either anchor us in faithfulness or numb us to the Word of God. He points to Jesus as the true fulfillment of all godly traditions and calls believers to reorient their practices toward genuine love, mercy, and justice. Whether confronting the hard-heartedness of Zechariah’s hearers or reminding us of Christ’s call to love the widow, the orphan, and the sojourner, this message resonates with a prophetic urgency for authentic discipleship. Listeners are left with a clear takeaway: our religious practices must point us to the transformative power of God’s Word, not merely to human approval. Zechariah 6:9-15

Zechariah 6:9-15 depicts the crowning of Joshua the high priest, a symbolic act that foreshadows Jesus as both King and Priest. The sermon highlights how the phrase “the Word of the Lord came” often signals a Christophany, pointing to Christ’s presence in the Old Testament. Joshua is not the true Branch but a sign of the coming Messiah who will build God’s temple, not with stone but with people. The multiple crowns in the passage connect to Jesus’ many crowns in Revelation, representing His suffering, authority, and rule over the nations. This passage also calls believers to recognize their role as a royal priesthood, living as testimonies of Christ’s work. Just as Joshua’s crowning pointed forward to Christ, our lives should point back to His finished work. Preaching must keep Christ at the center, exalting Him as both Savior and Lord. The nations will one day lay their crowns before Him, and we are called to do the same through obedience, worship, and faithful service. Zechariah 6:1-8

Zechariah 6:1-8 presents the final vision in Zechariah’s chiastic structure, revealing God’s sovereignty over the nations through the imagery of four chariots emerging from between two bronze mountains. These war chariots, representing the forces of heaven, move out across the earth to execute judgment. Unlike the earlier vision where the horsemen merely patrolled the earth, these chariots are now sent forth in active judgment. The passage connects to similar biblical themes, including the four winds of heaven and the four horsemen of Revelation, illustrating God's justice moving across the nations. This vision assures God’s people that He is not passive in the face of evil but actively bringing justice. The bronze mountains symbolize the firmness of God's judgment, and the horses going to the north and south indicate His response to historical oppressors like Babylon. Just as God intervened on behalf of Israel, He continues to act in history, ensuring that His purposes prevail. Believers are reminded that God’s justice is certain, His wrath is real, and His people can trust in His righteous rule. We hope you have enjoyed these sermons from King’s Fellowship Church Ada. Zechariah 5:5-11

In this sermon, Joshua Lewis unpacks Zechariah 5:5-11, a mysterious and powerful vision depicting a woman in a basket, identified as “wickedness,” being carried away to the land of Shinar. Through biblical exegesis, theological insights, and historical context, Lewis explores the significance of this passage in light of spiritual warfare, idolatry, and God’s ultimate plan for justice. Drawing connections between Zechariah’s vision, Babylonian idolatry, and the imagery of the Whore of Babylon in Revelation, this message highlights the ongoing spiritual battle against deception, immorality, and false worship. Lewis also examines the role of the stork-winged women, often misunderstood as demonic, and presents a compelling case for their divine commission. With contemporary applications, this sermon challenges believers to recognize the influence of modern-day Babylon, addressing issues such as sexual immorality, idolatry, and cultural compromise. Listeners are encouraged to stand firm in holiness, trust in God’s justice, and engage in spiritual warfare through the power of the gospel. A deep, thought-provoking, and biblically rich message, this teaching equips believers to discern spiritual deception and live faithfully in a world increasingly resembling the Babylon of old.
