When Did You Stop Being Amazed by God?

When's the last time you were genuinely awestruck by God, not just going through the motions of faith, but actually amazed by His goodness and His glory? In Luke 5:9, after Jesus performs a miracle, Peter and his partners James and John aren't just impressed, they're awestruck. That's the response real spiritual sight produces. In today's Daily Hope, Pastor John S. Dickerson asks why so many of us stop being amazed by God the longer we walk with Him, and why that's something we can actually pray to change. Paul prayed exactly this in Ephesians 1:18, that the eyes of our hearts would be enlightened so we could truly know God. Pastor Dickerson also gets honest about a hard pattern in human history: give people freedom, prosperity, and rights, and within a couple of generations they tend to drift away from God and start replacing Him with other things. That's not just true of history, it's true of us. That's exactly why ongoing repentance matters. It isn't about staying stuck in where we fall short, it's about stepping through that into where God is sufficient. His grace covers our sin, His love is unconditional, and even though none of us deserve a place in His kingdom, He's given us the Holy Spirit and invited us in anyway. Not Good Enough For God? Imperfect Peter Still Led Thousands To Christ

Do you ever feel like you're too flawed, too inconsistent, or too immature for God to actually use you? In today's Daily Hope, Pastor John S. Dickerson points out something most people miss about Simon Peter: he wasn't perfect. Scripture shows him as impulsive, selfish, and immature - a guy who messed up more than once. But Jesus kept choosing to work through Peter anyway, because Peter kept obeying, even imperfectly. In Luke 5, Jesus asks Peter for three things in a row that didn't make sense: use his boat, row out into deeper water, and drop his nets again after an exhausting, empty night. Peter said yes every time, and what followed was the biggest miracle he had seen yet - nets so full of fish they began to tear. Pastor Dickerson calls obedience a staircase: every step feels hard in the moment, but each one grows your faith until what once felt impossible becomes normal. He challenges listeners to imagine bringing at least one person to salvation every year for the rest of their life, and picturing that long line of people someday saying, "because of you, I'm here." Your obedience - even imperfect, even ordinary - can be the bridge to that kind of legacy. What's one imperfect step of obedience you can take today?
