On today's podcast... Venezuela - Barbados Venezuela and Barbados are strengthening their ties of cooperation with a joint work agenda to promote integration and mutual development, following the official visit on Monday by Venezuela's Acting President, Delcy Rodríguez, to Barbados Prime Minister Mia Motley. The Venezuelan leader announced the birth of an economic and commercial union between both countries and invited Barbados to invest in Venezuelan oil and gas fields.  Colombia In Colombia, amid an escalation of attacks, a troubling theory is growing that terrorism is being used to manipulate the upcoming elections at the end of May.  President Gustavo Petro ordered an investigation into whether the weapons and explosives used in the recent attacks came from Ecuador, given that Ecuadorian President Daniel Novoa is being accused of acting as an agent of the United States, tasked with sabotaging and interfering in the electoral process and preventing the victory of the leftist Iván Zepeda, Petro's political successor, and the clear favorite to win the elections, possibly in the first round.  Argentina And in Argentina, the president of the Episcopal Conference and Archbishop of Mendoza, Marcelo Colombo, emphasized that inequality will deepen, describing the impact that cuts under the government program of the far-right, pro-U.S. Milei are having on the most vulnerable sectors, especially the retirees and people with disabilities.

On today's podcast... Venezuela The Acting President of Venezuela, Delcy Rodriguez, received this Friday, in Caracas, the President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro.  This was the first direct meeting between the two, and it also makes Petro the first head of state to meet with Rodríguez, since she assumed power after the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife.  The agenda focused mainly on border security to confront drug trafficking, and also included economic and energy issues such as the possible purchase of Venezuelan gas, the reactivation of a binational gas pipeline, and the promotion of bilateral trading.  Argentina In Argentina, for the first time in history, the government banned accredited journalists from entering the Casa Rosada under the excuse of "combating illegal espionage".  Experts claim that the far-right, pro-U.S. leader Milei has chosen journalism as an enemy for following the recent publication of corruption cases involving ministers and officials of his government. Additionally, the ban on the press suspiciously coincided with a visit to Milley at the Casa Rosada by Peter Thiel, the American billionaire who may have gone to sell him a mass surveillance service.  Peru And in Peru, the Social Democratic presidential candidate Roberto Sánchez announced that if he reaches the presidency, he will support Peru's integration to BRICS.  According to preliminary official results, Sánchez is in second place, and if that position is confirmed by the electoral authorities, he would face the right-wing candidate Keiko Fujimori, daughter of the dictator Alberto Fujimori, in the second round scheduled for June 7.

On today's podcast.  Iran - United States The president of Iran says that the United States naval blockade of Iran is the main obstacle to genuine negotiations. On his X account, the president affirmed that Iran maintains its willingness to reach agreements but directly pointed to the White House for failing to keep its promises and maintaining the blockade around the Strait of Hormuz.  He described the US position as hypocritical, citing a deep gap between its diplomatic statements and its military actions in the region.  Argentina In Argentina, the far-right pro United States, Javier Melie returning from Israel, is meeting this Thursday at the Casa Rosada presidential palace with Peter Thiel, the billionaire cofounder of Palantir Technologies, a mass intelligence company created with CIA funding and one of the main financiers of Donald Trump's 2026 campaign.  The meeting, which has generated concern over the possible hiring of digital surveillance services for the Argentine state, strengthens ties between the governing far right in Argentina, its alignment with Israel, and the most controversial sector of global technological powers.  Peru In Peru, a protest was held in front of the National Jury of Elections to reject the request of far-right candidate Rafael Lopez-Aliaga, who is in third place in the partial vote count of the recent presidential elections, demanding complimentary elections and alleging, without evidence, premeditated fraud against him.  Meanwhile, the social democratic candidate Roberto Sanchez, political hear of president Pedro Castillo, who rose to second place in the vote count, resume his campaign activities assuming he will face on June 7th, the right-wing candidate Keiko Fujimori, daughter of dictator Alberto Fujimori, who leads the tally.

On today's podcast Venezuela The Acting President of Venezuela, Delcy Rodriguez, in a message to the nation on Sunday night, presented an assessment of her first 100 days in office, describing it as progress towards a new historical moment in which she has been promoting national reconciliation and overcoming political hatred.  Earlier, the leader took part in the State of Zulia in the national pilgrimage against international sanctions and the economic blockade.  On that occasion, she directly asked the U.S. and Europe to lift those measures and announce economic actions such as a possible increase in the minimum wage for May 1st.  Colombia In Colombia, President Gustavo Petro filed a criminal complaint against his Ecuadorian counterpart, Daniel Novoa, before the prosecutor's office for the crime of slander after Novoa attempted to link him to drug trafficking.  According to some analysts, Novoa is doing the dirty work on behalf of the U.S. and the Colombian right by muddying the political landscape with these types of accusations just six weeks before the presidential elections with the aim of destabilizing Petro's government and preventing the victory of Ivan Zepeda, currently leading in the polls and considered Petro's political heir.  Iran - United States And Iran accuses the United States of piracy following the seizure of one of its cargo ships that was attempting to break the naval blockade imposed by the U.S. in the Strait of Hormuz.  The Iranian Foreign Ministry stated that there are still no plans to attend the meeting in Pakistan to continue peace talks with the U.S. while uncertainty grows as the fragile ceasefire set to expire this week approaches amid tensions and accusations of violations.
