Through leadership, speaking, work, relationships, travel, and everyday life, I explore communication and the lessons that shape how we think, connect, lead, and create meaningful action. This isn't a podcast about having all the answers—it's a thinking laboratory where I question assumptions, test ideas through real experiences, and document what I'm learning along the way. Episode 38: Questions About Public Speaking | Confidence, Nerves, and Getting Better

I've been speaking in public for most of my life—and I genuinely love it. But loving public speaking doesn't mean I've figured it all out. In this episode, I'm answering five questions about public speaking based on my own experience: what I still find difficult, how I became more confident, whether I still get nervous, what I wish I knew when I started, and what public speaking has taught me about myself. I'm not approaching these questions as a public speaking expert with definitive answers. I'm sharing what I've learned, what I've experienced, and what I'm still figuring out after years of speaking, hosting, presenting, training, competing, and practicing. If you're interested in public speaking, communication, confidence, speaking anxiety, or becoming a better speaker, I hope this conversation gives you something to think about. Episode 37: Questions About Confidence | How I Built Mine, What Still Challenges Me, and What I've Learned

What does it actually mean to be confident? I've often thought of confidence as something people either have or don't have. But when I look at my own experiences, I don't think I was simply born confident—and I definitely don't think I became confident overnight. In this episode of Version by Version, I explore five questions about confidence based on my own experiences, including: Whether I've always considered myself a confident personHow trying new things and taking risks changed my confidenceWhat I still struggle with, especially when I compare myself to other peopleWhat I think people misunderstand about confident peopleWhat confidence has revealed to me about what I'm capable of I also share some personal experiences that shaped how I see confidence today—from growing up with insecurities, to moving to Cebu and living alone, trying new things, traveling internationally by myself, and learning to trust my ability to figure things out. I'm not approaching this as an expert with a definitive formula for confidence. I'm simply reflecting on what I've experienced, what I currently believe, and how my understanding might continue to change. Episode 36: I’ve Been Speaking in Public for Years. Here’s What I Was Missing.

I’ve been speaking in public for twenty years. So what could I possibly still learn about communication? That was the question I found myself confronting after joining Toastmasters. I started public speaking when I was nine years old and continued hosting, presenting, training, and speaking in different contexts throughout my life. For years, I largely relied on experience, instinct, reflection, and whatever feedback I received along the way. But joining Toastmasters changed how I looked at public speaking and communication. In this episode of Version by Version, I reflect on what changed for me and the lessons I’ve continued to learn through the experience. I explore questions around: How do we intentionally develop a skill we've already been practicing for years? What happens before we actually speak? Why does having a space to experiment matter when we want to improve? How can what we practice in lower-stakes situations influence how we communicate when the stakes are higher? This isn't an episode about why everyone should join Toastmasters. It's a reflection on my own experience and how that experience continues to shape the way I think about communication, public speaking, learning, and growth. I'm still learning, still experimenting, and still figuring out what works for me. Have a topic or question you'd like me to explore in a future episode? Episode 35: What My First Speech Contest Taught Me About Becoming a Better Communicator

I revised my speech more than 30 times, practiced it, tested parts of it with other people, competed through several levels—and still didn't win at the district level. But looking back, I don't think the result was the most valuable part of my first speech contest. In this episode of Version by Version, I reflect on three lessons I gained from the experience—and am still learning today: 🎤 The speaker is responsible for giving the message a chance to land. 👀 Better speakers can give us better reference points.💭 Feedback requires discernment. From experiencing silence after a joke that had worked with smaller audiences, to competing alongside speakers who showed me what certain skills could look like at a higher level, to receiving so much feedback that I became confused about what to do with it, the contest revealed more than I expected about my own development as a communicator. It also left me with a question I'm still sitting with: Is becoming a better communicator really just about speaking better—or is it something else? This isn't a formula for winning a speech contest or becoming the perfect speaker. It's a reflection on one experience, what it exposed, and what I'm continuing to work on as I try to become a better communicator, speaker, and leader. If you're also navigating public speaking, communication, feedback, or your own journey of improvement, I hope this episode gives you something to reflect on. Episode 34: Why You’ll Never Feel Ready Before You Start

What if the things you're waiting for before you start are actually things you can only build by starting? For a long time, I wanted to have my own podcast—but I kept postponing it. And even after I started in 2023, I was inconsistent, took long breaks, and repeatedly questioned whether I was really ready. Looking back, I realized I had created my own definition of readiness. I thought I needed: More credibility More ideas An audience More confidence Only then, I believed, would I be ready to truly begin. But after reflecting on the past three years of starting, stopping, learning, and trying again, I began questioning whether I had the sequence backwards. In this episode of Version by Version, I reflect on my own experience with podcasting, why I kept waiting to feel ready, and the shift in thinking that changed how I now approach action, confidence, learning, and growth. I don't fully know why I created those conditions for myself in the first place. I'm still thinking about that. But this episode documents what my experience has taught me so far—and the question I now ask myself whenever I catch myself waiting to feel ready. If you've been postponing something because you're waiting for more confidence, clarity, experience, ideas, or some other condition, perhaps this episode will give you something to reflect on. 🎙️ Listen to the full episode and join me in the conversation. Episode 33: My Relationship with Uncertainty

A few weeks ago, a conversation with someone I was getting to know made me notice something about myself: how much I wanted certainty—and what happened when I couldn't have it. In this episode of Version by Version – The Love Ravina Podcast, I reflect on a personal experience that led me to examine my relationship with uncertainty. What began as a conversation about not rushing a relationship eventually became a broader reflection on how I respond when I don't have answers, can't predict what will happen, or can't control the outcome. I explore: Why I found myself wanting constant updates and reassuranceHow a possible professional instinct to create clarity may have followed me into my personal lifeWhy uncertainty may not have been the real source of the frictionWhat it means to remain present without immediate answersWhy I'm beginning to think about trusting myself differentlyThe questions I still don't have answers to This isn't an episode about having uncertainty figured out. I'm still exploring what it means to navigate it—and what trusting myself might actually look like in everyday life. This is one experience, one reflection, and one more question I'm carrying forward. Because sometimes, becoming more intentional doesn't mean immediately changing what we notice about ourselves. Sometimes, it begins with noticing it. And if there's a question, experience, or topic you'd like me to explore in a future episode, you can share your suggestions through this link: https://forms.gle/D4Rwv3Nk2JgzrPJu6 ✨ Version by Version – The Love Ravina Podcast is a thinking laboratory where I document the ongoing development of my ideas through real experiences, reflection, questions, and experimentation—one version at a time.

Episode 32: What Solo Travel Taught Me About Confidence | My First International Solo Trip to Taiwan

What does solo travel really teach you about confidence? People often say that traveling alone builds confidence. After my first international solo trip to Taiwan, I realized that's true—but not in the way I expected. In this episode of Version by Version – The Love Ravina Podcast, I reflect on three moments that challenged me the most: Going through immigration as a first-time solo travelerNavigating Taiwan's MRT system after missing my stopAsking complete strangers to take my photos Looking back, I don't think Taiwan magically made me more confident. Instead, it gave me something much more valuable: evidence that I was more capable than I thought. This episode isn't about travel tips. It's about confidence, uncertainty, communication, and the stories we tell ourselves before we ever take the first step. In this episode: Why preparation isn't the same as confidenceWhat missing a train taught me about asking for helpWhy the rejection we fear often exists only in our imaginationHow confidence grows by collecting evidence, not waiting to feel ready Question for you: Where in your life have you been waiting to feel confident before taking the first step? — 🎙️ Version by Version – The Love Ravina Podcast A podcast documenting my journey of becoming a more memorable and engaging communicator while exploring what it means to communicate with greater intention. Episode 31: Living Alone Taught Me This About Communication | Creating Space Before We Speak

What can living alone teach us about communication, self-awareness, and the conversations we have with ourselves? When I first started living alone, becoming a better communicator wasn't something I expected to learn from the experience. I moved to Cebu for a promotion during a season when almost everything in my life seemed to be changing at once. I was adjusting to a new city, navigating bigger responsibilities at work, recovering from the end of a six-year relationship, and figuring out what it meant to live completely on my own. And somewhere in all that change, living alone gave me something I didn't realize I needed: Space. Space to think. Space to process. Space to notice. Without the usual distractions around me, I started becoming more aware of my inner dialogue—the conversations I was having with myself when nobody else was listening. And I didn't always like what I heard. I noticed the negative self-talk, self-doubt, overthinking, fear, and the pressure I constantly placed on myself. Eventually, I began noticing something even more uncomfortable: some of those internal conversations were starting to show up in the way I communicated with other people. That realization made me question something I hadn't seriously considered before: Could the conversations we have with ourselves in private be shaping the conversations we have with everyone else? In this episode of Version by Version – The Love Ravina Podcast, I reflect on what living alone unexpectedly taught me about communication, self-awareness, personal reflection, and intentional communication. This isn't an episode about why you should live alone. Living alone just happened to be where I found the space that made some of these patterns easier for me to notice. I share how that awareness gradually changed the way I respond to myself, communicate at work, and approach difficult conversations with others. I also explore an idea I'm still developing: perhaps becoming a more intentional communicator doesn't begin with speaking better. Perhaps part of it begins much earlier—with noticing how we think, how we process our emotions, and how we speak to ourselves. Because I'm beginning to believe that communication starts with the relationship we have with ourselves. And maybe creating space to listen, think, process, and reflect is part of learning how to communicate with greater intention. 💭 I'd love to continue the conversation with you: What kind of space do you create to listen to yourself before you speak to others? Share your experience in the comments. What resonated with you? What challenged your thinking? What would you add to this conversation?
