We're celebrating THREE YEARS of The Forensic Files Duo, and what better way to honor the cases covered by FF, than to cover the one that unfolded on Halloween night? On October 31, 2004, roommates Leslie Mazzara and Adriane Insogna spent the evening handing out candy to trick-or-treaters in their quiet Napa, California neighborhood. Just hours later, both women would be murdered inside their home, leaving their community shaken and investigators searching for answers. With hundreds of DNA samples, more than a thousand interviews, and groundbreaking forensic technology, the investigation would eventually lead police to someone disturbingly close to the victims. This week, we're revisiting Forensic Files: "Good as Gold", diving deeper into the investigation, examining details the original episode didn't fully explore, and sharing updates and clarifications uncovered through additional research. When we started The Forensic Files Duo, we never imagined just how much joy this little podcast would bring us. Three years of researching cases, recording together, laughing at ourselves, learning new things, and somehow finding even more to talk about every single week. We're so grateful that we get to create something together again, and even more grateful for everyone who has listened, laughed, shared an episode, or supported us along the way. This week, Danielle and Drew are covering the Forensic Files episode “Outbreak,” which follows a terrifying foodborne illness outbreak in the Pacific Northwest. As people began getting violently sick, investigators had to work backward to find the connection between seemingly unrelated cases and eventually trace the outbreak to contaminated ground beef. In 1988, the body of 29-year-old Sandra Cwik was discovered in a remote area outside San Diego, California.
