Welcome to the Passion Church Podcast. Passion Church is a church community passionate about helping people Know God, Find Community, and Identify their Purpose to Serve and Make a Difference. We believe in the authority and power of the scriptures to shape our communal life and practice, as we seek to teach God's word with clarity and conviction. Most of the teaching in our community is done by Pastor Nate Schaefer and our teaching team.     The Story Isn't Finished

    What do you do when you’ve prayed, obeyed, trusted God—and still can’t see what He is doing? In Acts 9, Saul appears to be one of the greatest threats facing the early church. But while believers saw a persecutor, Jesus saw someone whose story was far from finished. Through Saul’s encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus and the obedience of Ananias, we discover an important truth: what you can see is not everything God is doing. In this message, “The Story Isn’t Finished,” we look at what Acts 9 teaches us about faith, obedience, trusting God through uncertainty, and taking the next step even when we cannot see the next chapter. Key truths from this message: You don’t know what God is writing next. What you see isn’t all God sees. Your part is obedience; God owns the outcome. Faith takes the next step when it can’t see the next chapter. Jesus didn’t only save you from something—He saved you for something. Maybe you’ve prayed, waited, tried, or obeyed and nothing seems to be happening. Don’t confuse the end of what you can see with the end of what God is doing.     Scattered, Not Stopped

    What if what feels like God stopping something is actually God spreading it? In “Scattered, Not Stopped,” we walk through Acts 6–8 and the story of Stephen to discover what faithfulness looks like when obedience gets costly and you cannot see the outcome. Stephen was faithful. He was full of the Holy Spirit. He did what God called him to do—and his story still ended beneath a pile of stones. But what looked like failure became part of something much bigger. Persecution scattered the early church throughout Judea and Samaria, and those believers carried the gospel with them. Sometimes you won’t see what God is doing through your obedience. Sometimes following Jesus will lead somewhere you never expected. But God never wastes your faithfulness. In this message: Faithfulness doesn’t require understanding Faithfulness doesn’t change when it gets costly Faithfulness produces fruit we may never see Pressure reveals what is inside of us Your faithfulness is not failure Your responsibility is faithfulness; God’s responsibility is the outcome This week: Be available.     See The People

    What happens when a growing church begins facing growing needs? In Acts 6:1–7, the early church faced a real problem: people were being overlooked. The answer wasn’t for a few leaders to simply work harder. Instead, believers were empowered to step into their God-given roles, people were cared for, and the gospel continued to spread. In “See the People,” Nate Johnson challenges us to recognize that every believer has a part to play in the mission of Jesus. In this message, we look at: • Why growth creates both opportunities and responsibilities up servants, not spectators • Why serving people is spiritual work • Why you don’t need a title to live out your calling • How seeing and serving people demonstrates the love of Jesus • What happens when every believer embraces their role Missional living begins when we stop seeing interruptions and start seeing people.     Faith Gets Noticed

    What happens when ordinary people spend time with Jesus? In Acts 3 and 4, Peter and John encounter a man who had been unable to walk since birth. Instead of walking past him, they stop, look directly at him and point him toward the healing power of Jesus. The miracle draws attention—but Peter and John refuse to take the credit. Their faith becomes visible, opposition follows and the religious leaders recognize something undeniable: these men had been with Jesus. In this sermon, we explore three marks of visible, missional faith: • Faith sees people differently • Faith comes from being with Jesus • Faith chooses boldness over comfort Following Jesus is about more than attending church, knowing Bible facts or supporting good causes. It is about living so closely with Christ that His love, compassion and courage become visible through us. The question is not simply, “Do people know I am a Christian?” The question is: When people encounter me, can they tell I have been with Jesus?     Power Changes People

    What happens when the power of God truly encounters people? In Acts 2, the Holy Spirit disrupted expectations, pointed people toward Jesus, and transformed a gathering of strangers into a devoted community of believers. The same chapter challenges us to examine how we respond when God moves outside our comfort, preferences, or previous experience. In this message, Pastor Nate Schaefer explores three truths from Acts 2: • God’s power disrupts our expectations • God’s power points people to Jesus • God’s power produces transformation Discernment matters, but discernment is not the same as cynicism. It is possible to become so afraid of something false that we become resistant to something real. A genuine move of the Holy Spirit will not make celebrities out of people or build personal platforms. It will glorify Jesus, lead people toward repentance, and produce lasting transformation. The evidence of God’s power is not only what we experience—it is who we become. Before asking God to change our city, schools, families, or the next generation, perhaps our prayer should be: “Lord, start with me.” Don’t just pray for God to move. Make room for him to change you.     Are you so busy serving God that you have forgotten how to simply be with Him? In this message, Presence Over Activity, Scott teaches from the story of Mary and Martha in Luke 10:38–42. Martha was busy preparing and serving, but Mary chose to sit at the feet of Jesus. Her example reminds us that spiritual activity can never replace personal intimacy with God. This message explores how busyness, anxiety, distraction, ministry expectations, technology, and constant activity can pull our attention away from what matters most. You will also learn practical ways to make time with God your first priority—even if you begin with only ten minutes each morning.     Alignment Sounds Like Surrender

    In this message from Luke 22:39–46, we look at Jesus praying in the Garden of Gethsemane and learn what true surrender sounds like. Jesus prayed, “Not my will, but yours be done.” This is one of the hardest prayers any follower of Christ can pray. It is easy to trust God when His will matches ours, but surrender begins when His will leads us somewhere we would not choose on our own. This sermon explores how prayer is not about convincing God to align with us, but about allowing our hearts to align with Him. Through Jesus’ example, we learn that alignment is honest, alignment chooses trust, and alignment receives strength.
