Meet Me in the Middle Podcast

Lindsay Pollard & Joy Waters Martin

Meet Me in the Middle is a video podcast co-hosted by Lindsay Pollard and Joy Martin. The heartbeat of the show is to interview individuals-- highlighting their stories that are still "in the middle" ... (1) of their mess or waiting on that miracle, promise or prayer answered; (2) of race and cultural issues; (3) stories of those who are marginalized, unnoticed, with limited resources or opportunity. Our prayer is that as you hear the stories of others, you'll find HOPE in the Father's love as you navigate through the MIDDLE.

“Rebuilding the Guardrails in a Time of Cultural Chaos ”|| Meet Me in the Middle || Episode 61

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” (Proverbs 4:23 NIV)If you're like us, you may be wondering how to live in the tension of the current cultural climate. Recent headlines include the untimely, horrific deaths of Charlie Kirk (Conservative political activist and Executive director Turning Point USA), Iryna Zarutska (Ukrainian refugee), Melissa Hortman (former Minnesota House Speaker) and her husband, Mark, and many other precious children and adults. Along with that, it seems all bets are off as to how many choose to respond – often lashing out at anyone who doesn’t agree with them. This podcast is not about adding more laws. It’s not about which “side” is best. This is about our hearts.Where are the guardrails for our hearts – those healthy, personal, spiritual and physical boundaries that guard our thoughts, actions, relationships and conversations? What are the anchors for our heart to help us navigate our way through this season without falling off the edge of a cliff?Join Lindsay and Joy in conversation as they wrestle through this as two regular people longing to have the heart of Jesus no matter what is happening around us. We talk about “scapegoats and scoreboards” … “listening, being slow to speak, and speaking the truth in love”... "asking curious questions"... "don't hang up or give up."It’s our hope and prayer that, together, we all can share a little more light for the journey ahead. We welcome comments below to keep the conversation going. We just ask that you are kind and considerate and open to dialogue.Scripture quoted in this episode: “The Lord says, 'It is not too late. Return to Me with all your hearts. Come to Me with fasting and weeping over your sins. Tear your hearts, not your clothes. Return to the Lord your God, for He is gracious and full of compassion, patient and abounding in love. He keeps His promise and is waiting to forgive, not to punish.' "(Joel 2:12-13 The Clear Word Bible)Video Produced by: Lisa Jane BewleyCo-Hosts: Lindsay Pollard and Joy Waters Martin

Maternity Health Care Crisis || Meet Me in the Middle -- Tiffany Martin || Ep.54, Pt. 1

As we start 2024, we begin with some vital topics interviewing individuals "in the trenches" doing the hard work to bring about lasting change in our communities. Meet TIFFANY MARTIN of the DandeLion House, a non-profit in New Market, Alabama. Tiffany is professionally trained doula as well as being in the process of completing her training in midwifery, soon gaining her Associates of Science in Midwifery and further attaining her license to specialize in home births. Tiffany founded the DandeLion Difference, an initiative "focused on reducing maternal health disparity, providing compassionate and quality care to low income and young mothers in need, and improving birth outcomes in Alabama and the Tennessee Valley area." (from CAPPA, https://cappa.net/cappamember/tiffany... ) In this first of 3 episodes, we seek to give an overview of the health care crisis-- especially as it relates to the state of Alabama. Tiffany's path as a doula and soon a licensed midwife is very much connected to a spiritual calling as she shares a kingdom perspective. Be sure to listen as she talks about "assignments from the Father," "listening to God in the shower," how midwifery connects with social justice and statistics related to pregnancy and delivery for women of color. This is her passion and with that passion, God has graciously provided a beautiful, peaceful, sprawling location for her non-profit, the DandeLion House, which offers a perfect space for Tiffany to use for training along with spiritual and personal encouragement. One area close to her heart is being able to share her knowledge and valuable experience by offering training to individuals who would like to become a doula at the DandeLion House as well as encourage those who would like to become a midwife.
